Great video! Amazing information as always! Which new era still cared about having a quality product. Crazy that even the player hats are not as nice anymore.

I have a Cooperstown Collection cap that's made in China, and it has the clicking button.

One of the most beautiful cap team official logo second to The Raiders

So the on field made in china etc... is fake and not what the players wear? Mines say exclusive made and engineered for mlb players..is that true ?

The regular game caps worn by players on the field are required to be made in the USA per MLB's requirements. Same with jerseys and pants. The spring training/batting practice caps can be made overseas as well as some special events caps, most often the All-Star Game caps. New Era is 100% absolutely fooling the public by selling versions standard on-field caps made overseas and passing them off as what the players actually wear.

Thank you Paul! I never realized why I do not like the Derby style so much even though the poly is nicer: The shield is too wide for me I much prefer the narrower one for my face shape

So what about the authentic on field caps that you buy on the MLB website that say they are authentic on field caps but not made in USA? They sell the replica version and the authentic ones. I always thought I was getting the real deal as I only buy the ones listed as authentic. I have almost all the teams hats so far and they have many different countries listed inside a few are China, Bangladesh etc. Just wondering about that.

Yes, New Era is fooling the general public. Aside from spring training and batting practice caps, standard player issue caps are made in USA. On-fields were always made in the USA until the late 2000s, and then they started supplementing retail stock with caps made overseas. Since 2019, all retail on-field caps are made overseas. Surplus USA made team stock can sometimes be found at discount clothing stores like Marshall's, TJ Maxx, and Ross. The reason New Era team issued caps are made in USA is because MLB requires it.

@@insomniac186 great information. Thanks. Just looked at all of mine. Only have one USA made one at that’s the Cleveland Indians Chief Wahoo hat. It’s a shame they resorted to making them overseas for consumers. I’ll have to check my local Lids store and other stores you mentioned for the old stock ones.

@blakewaddell451 each team also has an "authentics" game used department to get team issued caps. Selection varies from team to team, but you can sometimes get unworn stock or every lightly used caps, sometimes for less than retail.

@@insomniac186 that’s awesome to know. I wish i would of known that last month on vacation when I visited PNC Park. Luckily I had purchased hats before the game online as I didn’t make it to the team store during the game.

The authentic MLB caps on MLB shop are real they just made in different countries even the spring training MLB on field hats and batting practice hats the players wear on the field are made in different countries

Before you saying anything I’m guessing left is Derby. I can tell by softer looking poly. One on right has coarser poly. I’d say the ones made in FL are slightly above made in China as far as quality. MUSA and made in China are the only passable ones for me. Bangladesh, Haiti, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar are atrocious. I’d rather rock a snapback then a shallow crown Bangladesh 🤮

in my experience it is much better than overseas still. The sweatband is 100% better made in all my Florida ones compared to overseas which is a huge comfort factor for me
