    What’s that?

Hi! Thank you for your question! It's the ability of the brain to learn. After a neurological injury like a stroke, neuroplasticity helps people relearn to move or to walk again.

Good points! Great job! I I appreciate your in depth explanation. I have SPS - took over 12 yrs to get a dx even when I was very obviously debilitated and bed bound with overlapped clonic spasms that looked like seizures though I was wide awake. Hurt like nothing I ever experienced. Prior to this I ran and experienced very bad extreme pain in my low back and neck which got worse when I tried to do more. I was dx by clonus, central stiffness, EMG and MRI which showed lumbar lordosis. At first the docs thought I had ALS or MS but eventually I was diagnosed at Yale, NIH, Mayo Clinic etc.. I most often need a wheelchair or forearm crutches. As you mentioned I have agoraphobia due to many painful falls & spasms. I'm glad you mentioned the autonomic disturbances ( which I have) and your goals to help!!!!

Hi!! Thank you SO much for watching this video. I am so grateful!!! Thank you for sharing this with me!! I was so amazed at learning all this about SPS. Certainly I feel much more informed as a neurological physical therapist! Next week I am posting another video on SPS and physical therapy!!! I think you might find it very useful!!! I highly recommend finding a neurological physical therapist in your area, we are specialists in treating any condition of the nervous system.

@@thebrainpt Is a neurological PT a sub or specialized kind of PT? Forgive me if I'm stumbling over this since this is something I wasn't possibly aware of or I might reconsider if I knew what to ask for re: SPS. I've been to inpatient rehab in Spinal cord Injury rehab places to try and gain more function but no one knew about SPS back then. Is there we lay people can know if someone is a neurological PT vs someone who is trained in more than general PT so we might get a better fit?
