I think White Shadow is real because of two scenes. 1. The discuss at the construction site. The guy passing them said "excuse us" as he passed between them. He wouldn't need to do this if Huey is the only one. He could've just passed them. 2. The part when he warns Huey about yhe agency that was coming to get him. Yes, you can say that Huey was paranoid, but around this time he was retired so there was no reason for him to be paranoid. Plus, the way White Shadow described them is too accurate for someone's paranoid delusion.

The White Shadow represented Huey Newton's paranoia, during his time in prison and after his release. He felt he was being watched at all times, and had a hard time coping with society. He found comfort in drugs which ultimately led to his death.
