I built and designed a backyard roller coaster/dark ride/motion simulator. It is the only ride in the world to combine a roller coaster pneumatic launch (in reverse) with a motion simulator. Riders travel through space on a turbulent unmanned star speeder experiencing a rescue mission. This custom 2DOF motion simulator uses high-volume/low-pressure pneumatics to carry 8 passengers on a flight t...

I'm in awe of how many computer and mechanical skills you learned and exercised to complete this project. Wow!
very amazing project! how do you power up that huge motors on the cart on the track? i'd see any cases with batteries inside. i hope you power it through the rails. if it don't, how do you power it. how much watt and volt are these motors, for the rotating, and for the ride itself. and do you learn the electric by yourself, or do you have a buddy that will help you with this ride? and are there new plans for a new ride the upcoming years? i'm glad to see that. very very nice, i like it. i don't have the room for this big cart, i do it by myself with a 24 volts motor, and i control it via esp32, with code, and buttons. i hope for your answer, keep up the good work, and hoping for more of this. greetings from the netherlands, Anne.
What have you got cooked up for this year?
Sadly this year there will be no Halloween attraction in Texas... I am in Cambridge studying engineering at MIT!
@@calrustad5746 Oh man, that's amazing!
Really well done. Looks like your house is the spot everyone goes to every Halloween
Kudos
Awesome!
Mine is 10 times better
Amazing job there. The ride is awesome and the video quality is superb! I'm also curious when you narrated the ride build, what kind of mic are you using. The audio is perfect.
All that fancy equipment and custom click-track programming that doesn’t even come with the licensing materials….and y’all couldn’t afford a bass player? There’s like no bass.
There is a bass player in there!
an upright bass playing abba songs 😭😭
@@anasian9217 bro was killing it 🙏 disco upright like nothing else

0:00 Just like from the Broadway!
Thanks for all your work. And thanks to your sponsors. Im so impressed by all of this.
It looks amazing, Cal! Congratulations on finishing the build, we're sure it was a huge hit. Looking forward to part 4 in the behind the scenes series. Thanks for documenting and sharing this journey with everyone.
Cal this was genuinely so wonderful to check out! Had a blast seeing your extremely creative skills put into practice with this homemade attraction. Killer work man! Can't wait to see what you create for this industry!
Thanks for having me out to ride this. I'm so impressed.
So cool! Very impressive!
This is very impressive, you deserve so many more views! Hope it becomes a recurring project that improves every Halloween!
I came here from SavageMisters channel because I wanted to see how you created this master piece and I am blown away, you sir will go on to do amazing things in life.
Thanks for hopping on his channel.
All I can note is that You may need extra hands with "Set Decor" from being so busy with the whole engineering process. Your work deserves full immersion.
I totally agree! Stay tuned for part 3 of this years Project: Oasis attraction, fit with full immersive queue and lighting !
Seriously doc everything please!! This is incredible. I checked out the other videos.. I subscribed. I've seen dark rides and simple step motors on tracks with proxy sensors in the diy realms but this is on another level of impressive for something at home. I work with Theme park techs in FL and I'm definitely showing them this channel. Phenomenal!
Do more and document it all please.
Wow! Thanks for documenting this so we can see for ourselves how incredible this project is. The breakdown of the process is fascinating. We are thrilled to partner with you, Cal, and can't wait to see the final result! 👏
Looking great, Cal! Love seeing that control cabinet all set up, can't wait for part 3.
This is incredible, Cal! I can't wait to see the finished attraction, but huge kudos to you for all the work you've done already. I love all the details about the forethought and planning that goes into creating something like this. I enjoyed seeing how things like the OnLogic computer and the ride player audio controller all work together. Keep up the amazing work!
This is unironically one of the coolest and most impressive homemade dark ride projects I've ever seen. The level of technical capability here is beyond admirable. Congrats for being able to work on such an amazing project! This will set you up incredibly well for if/when you want to enter the themed entertainment industry. Excited to see the final product!
Thank you so much!
Wow! Impressive progress!
You know whats crazy. I'm literally playing this as my marching band show. But we arent playing this score. We are playing a totally different score lol. And we play them in parts not acts.
So amazing!
Wow, phenomenal work!
This is kinda similar to star tours
Amazing! How much was the cost to build?
We had a lot of the electronics required already, (along with some of the building materials) but my best estimate is a few thousand.
WOOOOOOOOO LET'S GOOOO
question is, was the on ride film found online or custom
The actual visuals weren’t animated by me… the script, vocal recording, sfx, and audio was all done in house and the visuals were stitched to match our custom story ;) for more info email me cal@rustadpublishing.com
@@calrustad5746 thats actually impressive
This was spectacular! Wonderful job! How big was the air tank that you used?
6 Gallons for the launch, 10 gallons for the motion platform.
This is so creative! I love this!
I think it needs a bigger screen. And also this is really cool!
I need a tutorial
Can you make a tutorial please
Man this is amazing I've built one worked on it for a year but I how no footage to sync with the motion can I buy the video part for my ride???
Email me, cal@rustadpublishing.com
@@calrustad5746 hi there awhile ago I asked if I could buy a video for my homemade simulator if so I would love to please contact me if possible serious about it loved ur youtube video amazing I thank u will be pleased with mine also.
U there
@@Andrew-lr9rz yes, please email me cal@rustadpublishing.com! Thanks.
ρгό𝔪σŞm 🤣
Awesome work! I have a similar (smaller scale) simulator project in the works with a single rider using an arcade game motion base. How much travel did each airbag give?
If I remember correctly around 9 inches, the whole platform could tilt 19 degrees forward and backward and roll 10 degrees left and right!
So sweet! What controls everything?
It is a custom made ride controller, utilizing a combination of arduino hardware and software running on a laptop handling the AV side of things. Email me for details cal@rustadpublishing.com!
@@calrustad5746 cool, thanks! I figured it was probably arduino based. I've conceived a similar project using an industrial logic controller (plc) and a raspberry pi running FPP
@@calrustad5746 did you make the animation yourself?
@@fieldfilmz the film was made by Yessian and Pixomondo for a now defunct theme park in China, (Yessian ended up posting the ride video as portfolio work) I scrapped all of the audio and wrote my own script, did all sound effects work, and added in all of the music. You can find more about the source material here! www.yessian.com/experiential?play=star-journey
@@calrustad5746 that's really neat! I never figured that someone would post something like that. Great job!
this was so cool and deserves way more views
Great idea and execution
AMAZING!! Good job.
AAAAAAAAAAAAA Jamming so hard to this. Slaps HARD Nice job!
Wow! Such an awesome performance!!!!! Fantastic editing and video creating!
