I don't EDC a fixed blade knife these days. In my teen years I did because I hunted a lot and spent a lot of time in forests, living outdoors. I then carried a medium sized bushcraft knife designed to render wood or game. I still have perfectly adequate small to large fixed blade knives (4 - 10 inch blades) for that same purpose when needed. My EDC knives for the past 60+ years have been for not only EDC, but for EDU (Every Day Use) and are, therefore, multi-purpose with only a passing nod to tacticality (my spell checker doesn't like that word). ☺I don't have much in the way of discretionary funding and have prioritize spending in a way that negatively impacts my needs vs wants Benjamin T.

Katrina survivor here (north shore of Pontchartrain). In the aftermath, if you need to go anywhere you should have a chainsaw (with fuel), steel cable or very strong rope, and a diesel vehicle. Trees blocked almost every back road. Gasoline was very scarce or unavailable while diesel was easy to get. After a week we became a liability (using up scarce resources) so, drove to Memphis to fly back home (PNW). We came back later to help with volunteer orgs rebuilding, mostly in Waveland and Pearl River area. People who have no resources need to leave the affected area (preferably before the hurricane hits) rather than stay and become a part of the problem.

Many of us have considered NC to be safe from natural disasters. We were surprised to find they got hit harder than many of us south of them. We lost power for days, had no Wi Fi etc. but water was not an issue, but in NC the flooding damaged the fresh water and the pumping system. This was a vacation spot.

I’m not even sure that the workhorse C-130 was ever intended to be used as a bomber, but it clearly was. It's been announced on the news several times since shortly before 9/11 that we can't possibly defeat the Islamists because they are so willing to die for their cause. That fallacy is so evident when we see that their leaders are not willing to do so. Erdoğan and his ilk want to obtain and retain power and wealth. They won't, on purpose, do anything to upset that apple cart. I say "on purpose" because they, like all blood-thirsty tyrants, just can't seem to hold themselves back from making monumental miscalculations that lead to their oopsie moment. I really don't see any of the state leaders displaying any willingness to even suffer mild discomfort for their cause. They expect their cannon-fodder masses to give all on their behalf. One of my neighbors has a lighted sign billboard proclaiming Israel to be bloodthirsty bastards. Another has an Israeli flag flying 24/7 with no American flag in sight. Who cares? Endless conflict is what they've done for 5000 years.

If some country attacked our border in a conventional way, I do not feel they would be successful on the southern border as all states on the south border are gun friendly to its residents except California. I may be missing something. If and individual threatens me,loved ones or innocent bystanders with grave bodily harm. That's the only reason to employ a firearm in self defense. I understand, subject to being corrected, that Israel withdrew from Gaza and the people of Gaza elected Hamas, who killed whatever opposition there may have been and became the sole party in charge forever. Hamas inserted itself into neighborhoods, hospitals, schools. Used money from Aid Societies to build tunnels, not schools or hospitals and then attacked Jews on Oct 7th. If any of this is wrong, correct me. From Oct 7 onward the West, college campuses have been pro Palestinian and anti Israel. Hamas will win the sympathy war and Israel will continued to be condemned for killing Palestinians. Even Harris is calling for a Cease Fire. Do not all know, Hamas will then attack again.
