Crafted tie down mounting brackets in the rear cargo area in my 2024 Ram Power Wagon (aka Red Beast) to securely hold my refrigerator and other cargo boxes/crates. Used 3/4-10 threaded rod with coupling nuts, standard nuts and lock nuts along with some wire ties. This method should work in any recent Ram HD truck as well as most trucks that have space available on the seat mounting brackets. Cu...

Removed Wheel Center Caps on the Red Beast

I removed the wheel center caps on my 2024 Ram Power Wagon (aka Red Beast) while getting my tires rotated. I had previously “chewed up” one of the plastic center caps on a rock during my last trip to Hurricane Creek. I removed the center caps and painted the center portion of my hubs with Rustoleum Flat Black paint. Turned out well and definitely won’t stick out far enough to get caught on rock...

One more pass on the Exhaust tip clearance on the Red Beast Wagon

On the 2024 Ram Power Wagon (aka Red Beast Wagon) , I previously had an MBRP exhaust tip where the black coating was getting scraped off from off-roading and being peeled off by the car wash wand. My goodness that is one beautiful rig! Love that color!
Thanks. Don't look too closely at the pinstripes, I mean character marks... 🤣
Do you like that suspension feel over the stok one ? Looking to change mine and doest know what i am gonna put on it
Love the Thuren/Carli suspension I have on there. I have more wheel travel (8" to 9.5" in the front and 9" to 11" in the rear) which all adds up to more articulation. The 37s absolutely do not rub at all at full flex and full steering lock with my configuration and it rides better than it did from the factory. See my video on the suspension install for more info... ua-cam.com/video/n-uhqXRMyP4/v-deo.html
That’s bigger than I thought.
It's decent size basically the same size as the Gazelle T4 Hub tent.
That's the same thing my wife told me. 😂😂😂😂
Nice! Red beast looking good out there.
Fun trail ride! Bill did great for his first time, looked like a seasoned veteran out there!
He did well. It might have been since he had his roof and doors off. 😂
Awesome PW!! Im gonna get a PW here soon I hope!!
Thanks. They are definitely fun on the trails.
I can’t wait to take my son off roading, we just ordered an RHO
👍👍😁

Thanks for watching. Reach out and join up to the Southeastern Power Wagon Facebook group. There are scheduled rides setup on that site.
I need to get out there again
Let's go!
I have a 2020 Wagon with a very similar setup...Method mr315's with the same 37" Toyo tire.....love them and very little rub when on the trails....Guess I need to do an update video lol. Keep up the vids! Also, Im in the Knoxville area
Nice. You should join the Southeastern Power Wagon facebook group. Fortunately my tires don’t rub at all. Thanks for watching.
Looks good 👍
Deep Jodge Ram
🤣🤣Definitely got a little tongue tied on that one.
Good video! Interested in knowing what that gx was running. I’ve got a stock Gx other than some all terrains. Wondering if I could make it through.
Thanks. He was running 33” BFG All Terrain tires. I would think so, just have to choose the right lines over some of the obstacles. Take a look at the lines he took in the GX. The obstacles of concern are shown in the video.
Good video 👍
Thanks. It is a great spot to hang out with friends.
We were with Coddiwomple that day
@@ohnoadventures Awesome to meet you out on the trails.
We ran Sarah's Creek and Earl's Ford roads that Friday. Great trails.
That looks like a great time! Truck is looking great!
Thanks. We had a great time. Looking forward to receiving my WKO rock sliders and the next adventures.
Good video. I love that area.
Thanks. We had a great time riding the trails and camping. Will be back there very soon.
The stock wheels looked soo good and had brand new tires on them lol.. now you have tires that rub whenever you flex the truck( which is what a powerwagon is for) and wheels that make your amazing truck look like a cheap work truck model. Man I’ll never understand the craze with these shitty small wheels and 37’s. Get whatever wheel you want and 35’s and be able to flex the powerwagon on fully turning and never rub. Guessing your another guy who is gonna be a mall cruiser power wagon lol..
Thanks for watching. Check out the other videos on the channel showing some offroading adventures so far. I am definitely wheeling the Red Beast and having a blast. Getting some pinstripes and scrapes (i.e., character marks). It is an absolute offroad monster with these 37s and 17x9 Method Bead Grip wheels. It flexes extremely well with absolutely no rubbing anywhere. Subscribe and follow along as I take the Red Beast down some trails that would make some 4x4 vehicles cringe and wonder if they would get stuck.
I went with 35s for just that reason. I wanted absolutely no rubbing issues and you can cram a full size 35 spare in the factory spare location.
@@SupremeLeaderWPK Thanks for watching. I hope you are enjoying your PW as much as I am enjoying mine. 35s are a great choice especially with stock suspension (looks proportional). Also, a bonus that a 35” somewhat fits in the spare location. I went with 37s as I knew I was going to use Thuren/Carli suspension and the 37s look good in that scenario. Also, I have zero rubbing at full flex and turning steering full lock, etc. Depends on the wheel and tire combo to have no rubbing with 37s. I did make an adjustment at the inner fender liners (see other videos). I went with a 34” size spare as I carry a nice tire repair kit if I get hole in the normal spots. If needed I would put the 34” spare on the front. I will probably eventually get a full size spare and put it in the truck bed, but after I go to 38” tires. Yes, I will probably go bigger. I see exactly where I need to adjust for no rubbing at the inner fender area and this truck with the 8 speed transmission absolutely works great on and off road with 37s. I was originally concerned about power loss with the larger tires, but this truck would absolutely rock 38s without skipping a beat.
@@redbeastadventures no offense but 50 other people with the same exact suspension (as 90% of people all have this same suspension lol) rub like crazy when going full flex. You are doing some light off-roading, you are not full flexing your truck which you would rub. Either way, atleast your in the woods with your truck and not a mall princess, I apologize for saying you wouldn’t use it as a truck. Good on you 👍🏻
@@xGR1MxREAPERx No worries. I appreciate the comments and for watching the videos. I am not sure how much more I can flex it. I have went thru some pretty decent size ditches where several 4x4s were lifting their wheels and the Red Beast flexed beautifully without any rubbing. Not sure if maybe I am just lucky or something has changed with the 2024 version or my tire and wheel combo are just the correct sizing and offset. At any rate, I am having a great time offroading the Red Beast. Check out this video link in the beginning where I flex the truck pretty good. I may have to find some bigger ditches but I can't get it to rub anywhere lol. ua-cam.com/video/fN_fgR_giw8/v-deo.html
I have a 2019 PW . RedSquatch. Never Selling it. Great Channel. Where'd you get your side steps?
Thanks for watching the Red Beast Adventures. Purchased the Go Rhino Dominator D6 “slider” steps that are rocker panel mounted from RealTruck.com. They are holding up fairly well considering what I put them through so far. Check out the videos on the channel showing the steps and then later some damage underneath. I will be replacing them with White Knucke Offroad frame mounted sliders in a few weeks once the new ones ship. Will have a video on those new steps as well.
I also plan on keeping the Red Beast for a while as well as it maybe my forever offroading truck. 🤷♂ Hopefully your 2019 PW continues to serve you well.
And yes, those center caps are super cheap plastic. Weird they would go so budget on those.
Easy to chew up on the trails for sure
I just got the same tires and wheels for my 2020. I may have already told you that. :) What pressure are you running? Mine feel good at about 50 front and back. Doing a cross country trip in about 3 weeks so I might go higher on the highway with all my camping gear loaded down.
I run 48 front and 43 back. However I think 50 would also work well. I usually don’t have the camping gear loaded (at least for now). I would think 50 in the rear should be plenty. One way to check tire loading is to use a level and measure the loaded tire height. When I had the front and rear at the same tire pressures, the rear tire was taller. When they are the same height, they are somewhat equally loaded. In my case around 5 psi less in the rear.
More functionality! Love it.
What kinda side steps ya got?
I have the Go Rhino Dominator D6 "slider" steps for now. They have been holding up but are getting a little dented on the bottom. I have hit them several times off-roading, but I decided to go with some frame mounted rock sliders from White Knuckle Offroad. Those are on order and I am patiently waiting for delivery. I do have several videos about those rocker panel mounted D6 sliders already on my channel if interested.
Damn thats nice...
Thanks
Did you have any rubbing in the front, on the sway bar at full turn
No. The key is the backspacing on the wheels. I have the 17x9 +18mm offset wheels. In this case, there is no rubbing on the sway bar or radius arms. With the factory wheels and the same tires it would definitely rub on the sway bar because the backspacing on the factory wheel puts the tires back inside the fender more. With the factory wheels probably less potential of rubbing on the fender liner but rubbing on the sway bar with 37s. However, those 17x9 +18mm wheels put the tires in the sweet spot to not rub with 37s. You could probably run 35s on the factory wheels with no rubbing.
I have the same rims from CJC. I installed Toyo AT3 37x12.50R17. Also have a ram rebel 2500, should be the same height as the power wagon and for some reason my tires rub on the sway bar
@@johnsellers2353 Bummer on the tires rubbing. Although the Rebel 2500 truck might be the same height as the PW, I believe the front suspension would be different from a PW. The PW has a disconnecting swaybar that may have more tire clearance than the non-disconnecting version.
Yeah I’ll probably get the Carli torsion sway bar
Great video buddy and great job getting that big bastard through there!
Thanks. I enjoyed wheeling the Red Beast down that trail. Definitely got some more pinstripes. I got the initial scratches over with on the first off road trip to Brown Mountain. Now just try to keep it from getting dented otherwise game on. New WKO rock sliders will be awesome once I receive them and get them installed.
Love your videos and love your PW! My 2023 is identical minus ramboxes and I have 35" RT Trails (awesome tires!). Your truck makes me want to go to 37s haha! Any thoughts on making it to Uwharrie? I plan on going once I also receive my Dethloff Mfg trans skid and when I get WKO sliders. Ran URE a bunch back in the day with my old Jeep and loved it, curious to see what a PW can do!
Thanks for watching. 37s are awesome along with the Thuren suspension setup. I will definitely be going to Uwharrie and Windrock as well. WKO sliders will be shipped and installed in a few weeks. 😀 I need to order the Dethloff transmission skid plate as well myself. Been busy getting setup and purchasing camping gear. I would definitely be camping at Uwharrie and Windrock. I think the PW will do well at both spots. Mine is an offroading beast that climbs like a mountain goat.
Nice truck! Im building my 23 f250 for off roading and camping now. Almost went with a powerwagon since they come ready from the factory. Enjoy the vids keep it up!
Thanks. Have fun offroading and camping with your truck.
is that a full size 37 inch spare under there?
No. A bigger tire than stock (LT285/75/17 - 34”) in the spare spot. A 37” would not fit. I probably could have put a 35” tire there with some ratchet straps and aired down. I decided that if needed I would run that spare on the front if required for a short timeframe. I have a nice tire repair kit that can plug the tires as long as it is not a side blowout and of course an air compressor. I have a video on the channel detailing this spare and additional information if interested. I may eventually get a full size spare tire and put in the bed. Probably go up to 38s next time and do a full size spare with that size.
@@redbeastadventureswhen you go 38 you can’t get RT trails anymore. You ok with going away from those? Didn’t like them enough to stick to them?
@@Gunfufighter So far the Toyo RT Trails are great. Will do a review on the tires after I get a few more miles on them. As you noted Toyo RT Trails are not available in 38s. Falken Wildpeak RT tires are available in 38x13.5x17 with a similar type weight and tread pattern as well as a nice sidewall design. In this case, I might go with these instead. I cannot find replacement gears for the PW axles to go from 4.10 to 4.88 or 5.13 which I would want to use if I go to 40s. However based on these 37s and the way the PW handles these, I would feel comfortable going with 38s and staying with the 4.10 axle ratio.
Thank you for posting my dream truck it’s so hard to find the power wagon in action… hope to see you take it to the west coast where it’s more open and scenic
Thanks for watching. Having a great time taking the Beast offroad. I might get out there eventually. Still building it out and getting my camp gear together. Have some WKO frame mounted rock sliders coming in a few weeks. Looking at a nice Dethloff transmission skid plate to add as well.
❤❤❤
Getting my first power wagon soon, subscribed to check out the journey of the red beast and get inspired.
Awesome. Congrats on your upcoming Power Wagon. Thanks for watching. This PW is an absolute offroad beast. Just point it at the obstacle and go.
And a waterproof tent bag! Best tent! I had no issues with mine.
Yep. Forgot to mention the bag. Definitely a nice setup.
I love my Gazelle tent .
Just installed the same model on my 2023 Jeep gladiator. Like you said they look really good and work great.
Thanks for watching. They are nice steps. I have taken them through some rocks so far and hit them pretty good on the bottom. They are surprisingly holding up fairly well. The top looks like new, the bottom has paint scraped off and a few small dents in the rectangular section. The steps are still straight and look the same from the top. However, I did order a few weeks ago a set of White Knuckle Off Road frame mounted rock sliders to put on the Beast for even more protection. If you look at some more recent videos, you will see some minor damage taken to the steps.
Navagating with those wide mirrors 👍👍
They definitely stick out. When you close them and then travel over 10 mph they auto open back. 😡
Seems them Rams handled the trail better than the 4Runners 😁 (V8 4Runner owner here)
Thanks for watching. We all had a great time. The Red Beast Wagon did not disappoint. The articulation on this truck is impressive. Having solid front axles is definitely a plus. Ordered some WKO frame mounted rock sliders and they will hopefully be installed in 4+ weeks or so. Definitely will be ready for even more rocks with those. Also, I have my eye on a nice transmission skid plate from Dethloff Mfg that would be a great addition to armor the Beast.
is this a 2500?
Yes. Power Wagon trim with special features.
RAM. es. RAM
You know it’s a tight and interesting trail when the mirrors are folded in! Another good video…Power Wagon don’t care!
For sure. Thanks for watching. One thing that is interesting with this PW…. Once you drive over 10 mph the mirrors will automatically open back out. I had to keep closing them occasionally. 😡
New to all this UA-cam stuff but curious: how do you set up your 4wd as far as axle lock/sway bar ect. Do you do this at the bottom of the mountain or adjust to each obstacle?
Thanks for watching. I will start out in 4 low and disconnect the sway bar and typically just put on the rear lockers depending on the terrain. I might later turn on the front lockers depending on the obstacle and how wet it might be on the trail climbing that obstacle. Also, definitely air the tires down as well to get better traction and to provide a smoother ride. I have recently just been airing all tires to 25 psi and seems to work well for me. Obviously you would need an air source to inflate the tires back up before you get back on road.
For a stock PW with 33s, you might not want to air down to 25, maybe just 30 or so…. I have “bead grip” wheels (Method 704HD - check out earlier build videos), so those wheels could definitely allow some fairly low pressures without fear of debeading the tire. Also, you may want to check out my chalk test video and take a look at your tire pressures. Unless you are loading the truck up or towing you could probably lower your tire pressures over factory. I initially lowered my 33 tires to 60 front and 55 rear. Didn’t trip the TPMS factory setting there, but it might be close.
Im goad to see a PeeDub being used! The outside guy filming would need to match his video recording resolution with yours.
He recorded in Portrait mode so I cropped his footage to match up to my landscape mode. In this case, the resolution is not the same plus I have a newer iPhone model as well. I might invest in another video recorder to use for outside later.
Thanks for more PW content. But, just know, I don’t invite guys with flickering lights on my trail rides. 🤷🏻♂️ Congrats on buying the worst selling truck, ever…
No worries. Thanks for watching. You know that the lights don’t actually flicker with the naked eye only when recording with an iPhone or similar.
@@redbeastadventuresyes, I also have a PW. I was just joking based on a comment in your other video. Did you ever figure out what scraped?
@@That_Paul_Guy 🤣 The driver side step got scraped up pretty good with a minor dent. Surprisingly those steps are holding up pretty well. Good news is my WKO frame mounted rock sliders will be here in about 4 weeks. 😀
@@redbeastadventures you’ll be happy with them, I’ve had them on 2 previous vehicles. I am trying to hold out on purchasing them for my PW until they do their thanksgiving sale which is usually 15% off. We’ll see. Your videos are making me jealous but most of the stuff here in North Ga doesn’t even touch the factory step bars. Make sure to look at what others have said about the washers you install on the front brackets contacting the frame. Most people grind a couple flat to avoid it.
Nice. I have the same truck ( all stock) I can live vicariously through you
I missed a good time. Love brown mountain.
I have a 2024 annual pass. We can make another trip together some time. 😀
sick rig!. how much was performance affected stock vs 37's?
Thanks. I really don’t feel any difference with the performance of the 37s over the 33s with the 8 speed transmission. I believe it was more of an issue with the earlier models that had the 6 speed transmission. The effective axle ratio is now like a 3.7 instead of the 4.10. I actually think 38s would be fine as well as far as performance is concerned. Offroading in 4 low, it crawls up most anything it can fit through and clear.
How much?
ABOUT 85.000
Looks good brother! I had the black chrome one on my old tundra after I tore off the regular chrome one
Thanks. Definitely working to max out clearance where I can. Next to come off might be the rear parking sensors which are mounted in a plastic trim below the steel bumper. My guess I will rip them off soon enough. Scrubbed them on my first offroad trip to Brown Mountain. I can set the Rear sensors off and it stays that way even after cutting off the truck. So maybe just take them out of the plastic trim and tie them up some where higher…
Are the Method wheels the bead grip or standard? Thanks!
Bead grip
What did you like about the white knuckle vs. maple off-road? Thanks!
I looked at lots of videos and reviews on the White Knuckle Off Road rock sliders and they seemed like the most robust sliders out there for my truck model. They are really heavy (150 lbs each slider) but look well engineered and constructed. Should also be able to take a major hit without any issues from the videos I have seen and talking with some other customers that have WKO sliders on different vehicles.
Great video! What size tires? What did you air down to? Thanks!
Thanks for watching. Those are Toyo Open Country 37x12.50R17 tires. On this trip, I aired down to 25 psi all around with no tire spin. If you get a chance, check out the earlier videos that show the build process with lots of detailed specs from the beginning…
You’re adding all the right parts for sure, and getting to use the truck off road. I would suggest getting a high clearance front bumper (I got the Chassis Unlimited one, and is power wagon specific, and looks sick!). It gives you crazy good approach angle, which the stocker doesn’t have.
Thanks. Definitely a nice bumper. Looks like it weighs 120 lbs. Do you know what the weight of the standard bumper is for comparison? Maybe you can post a video on UA-cam of your bumper setup...
