Despite what the haters are gonna say, I REALLY love the sound of my guitar through my big Ashdown Bass amp for spanky cleans to classic crunch tones! This video is just a quick tone test memo for myself with some mindless noodles but I thought there's some nice runs in there so I figured I'd share it! What do you think?
Equipment used:

Nick is creating music on Patreon: www.patreon.com/NickStanding Subscribe for more music and other projects. I was messing around with some looping on the BOSS DD-6 and realised that the bass riff for Re-Arranged by Limb Bizkit was short enough to loop (only 5.2 seconds on the DD-6), so I figured I'd jam some stuff out! Great track! It's not the exact guitar parts etc... but I hope you like it!...

Wait. Is that just the amp overdrive? Sounds great! I'd love to hear it boosted into
bro we need full song
Thanks so much! Indeed I need to sit down at some point and get some of these ideas together. People really seem to like this one in particular :)
🔥🎸🏆
Thanks Sir!
I love how it is still recognizably a J bass in all configurations.
Very much so which would make sense :) I think the neck only / series modes gets closer to the P sound, but it's not quite the same. Nice versatile bass though I think.
@JabunAudio agreed, it sounds great. My daily for the last 30 years has been a Jazz. That sound, and all its quirks, are burned into my brain
@@disgruntledfaerie Amazing! This was the first bass I ever had but it got stuck at my parent's place when I moved out and I've only just got it back after almost 10 years! Feels great to have it in arms reach again. My usual daily bass for the last 10 years has been a Sterling SB14, but it's nothing like the Jazz. Between them they really compliment each other though I generally feel more inspired with the Jazz in hand :) I'd love to get a fretless Jazz at some point
@@JabunAudio Niiice! After playing my Jazz for 29 years, I picked up a Sterling Ray4 HH last year. Been loving it. Kinda the logical next step after a J. Both Leo Fender designs, and the man was a stone cold genius. As @twoodford says, he'll go down in history for inventing the strat and tele, but the p-bass is the one that changed everything about music and made rock & roll possible.
Beef switch~
Indeed! :D
First time I've heard of the saxoflute, intriguing! :D Studio shaped up nicely too!
Cheers CD :) I think there's quite a variety of bamboo/mini-saxophones these days some more similar than others, but it's been great fun (and a challenge) so far :D Some shelves are up since this video went out with more coming this week too. It's getting there!
that was fire my man
Thanks so much :)
Totally love your vibe. Just fully enjoying a great tune, your way👍👍 Impressed that Korg EM-1 can do all that!!!!
Ah thanks so much! I do sometimes lose myself in these things :) The EM-1 is a limited instrument in many ways, but if you push it, it goes surprisingly far! Such a fun little box :)
🎹 🎸 🔥🔥🔥👏💯
Thanks Sir!
Pink Floyd Piggy!
Indeed! :D
congrats! 😄
Cheers :)
What is r that sounds cool
The little box is the Bastl Kastle (v1.5) a small synth which you patch little cables across points to generate the sounds. The bigger machine behind is a Roland Tr-08 Drum Machine which you can program drum parts on, and the red cable is sending a trigger to the Kastle so that they play in sync with each other. Both fun machines :)
@JabunAudio okay 👍 I like Black Star amps they have a lot of stuff you can do with them to they have built in drum modes have you tried black star amps before?? Black Star amps are badass.
@@patrickshannon4516 Aha! I don't think I've ever had the chance to try out a black star amp before. The write-ups I've seen have been very good though (and the demos sound nice too) :)
@JabunAudio I like those amps saves a lot of time not having to hook up ten pedals. I like a lot of effects, anything that makes me sound better is what I like. Black Star amps have it all.
@@patrickshannon4516 Ah cool, I'm more the opposite, I prefer amps with not too many options, maybe a spring reverb for effects but that's about it, then I'll go reach for anything else if/when I need/want it :) I feel like unless it's a specific effect for the purpose of playing, I play better when there's less in front of me to think about.
Chill cyberpunk heist music~
Gotta have a heist soundtrack :D Thanky!
Yes Short basic sidechain 66% mix by fingers 😊
Cheers :)
instant Psytrance! 😆👍very nice!
Thanks so much!
Oooo! Smort~
Thanky :D
very nice 🎹
Thanks so much :)
Really nice! Shame it ended so abruptly... Full track on the next Jabun album?
Thanky! Yeah... the camera did that "cuts out sound because of the noise reduction" thing so I lost the audio for the rest of it.... very frustrating, but I thought I'd post the bit that did survive anyway. It was a fun jam :)
@JabunAudio what a digital dummy...
@@TallismanRogue Very much indeed XD
Uh what tone did u use?
The signal chain is: Yamaha YC-25D Organ -> Ammoon Pockverb (for spring reverb) -> Orange Micro Dark Amp Head -> Homemade JabunAudio "Retro Rotary" Leslie Speaker Cabinet In terms of the settings. I can't remember off the top of my head but looking at the video I can tell it's approximately: Upper Keyboard: 16', 8' & 1' flutes on full (3) Lower Main keyboard: 16', 8' & 4' flutes on full (3), and 2 2/3' & 2' flutes on 2 Lower Bass Notes: just 16' on full (maybe 8' on 1) Shorthand for flute settings where they can be from 0-3 (0 being off, and 3 being full): Upper 3300003, Lower 33322, Bass 31 (or 30) Hammond B3 equivalent drawbar settings would be approximately: Upper 808000008, Lower 808866000, Bass 82 (or 80) Hope that helps and thanks for listening :)
what are the chord names? they're so dreamy and somehow reminds me of that hans zimmer interstellar theme
Thanks so much and the Interstellar Soundtrack is amazing! Lemme think... I'm not an expert in the exact notation but I'll write down the notes and my best estimates below (It's just the bottom 4 strings being played): Bb - Bb - D - A = (BbMaj7 (without the 5th)) C - C - E - A = (Am 1st inversion, or can be viewed as a C6 without the 5th) D - D - F - C = (Cm7 (without the 5th)) F - F - A - E = (FMaj7 (without the 5th)) Hope that helps!
@@JabunAudio thankss
@@mmeeeggr No worries :)
WOW you are getting really good!
Thanks so much :)

Ah nice, I heard about this a while back too after I figured it out myself. It's a fun one!

Lol! Well if you're buying XD
From the best era of LB! :D Nice.
Cheers CD! But is there really a "best" era of LB? Some distinct and great chapters in their own way methinks :D
@@JabunAudio True true, this is just the one I remember fondest maybe. :) Significant Other was when I was really getting introduced to their sound; numetal overall. Good memories!
@@cbrd 'Tis a great album! I got it on vinyl on my first date with Eva in Brighton WAAAAY back when XD
@ Ooh that is significant! :D You may have mentioned that earlier hmm... do you play that vinyl too, or is it more a collector's item/memorabilia?
@@cbrdI do play it every now and again, it's great :D
That sock is the best part of the cover🧦🎸
Lol XD
Classic you~ Very nice
Thanky :D Not often I play it on guitar, but it's definitely a bass staple of mine XD Such a groove!
I don’t like to be negative, but those foam tiles are a waste of money. You cannot perform any useful acoustic treatment with them.
I have to respectfully disagree. Used correctly I've found them to be incredibly useful for reducing reverb, flutter echos and early reflections for both listening and recording. A big bottom line is you need to get the appropriate tiles (Not just any foam will do), and you need to put up enough of them in the right places to make a difference for the application you seek. In terms of room resonance corrections, they make some improvement but are most effective when combined with thicker panels (eg: in the corners) and corrective eq/calibration of the monitoring system. One thing these panels won't do is soundproof: It's more about controlling how the sound develops in the room rather than how it gets in and out of it. Hope that helps.
Yeah your making some really good progress. Keep watching Justin Johnson it really helps
Cheers! I actually got my slide out yesterday for the first time in ages on acoustic and had a really inspired session so hopefully I can record/upload some more Justin Johnson inspired jams soon :)
very clever 😉
Cheers :) Saves the potential wall damage!
New studio's shaping up nicely! :) Good guide too, I remember those bamboo rods... Did you ever not use these work-arounds and just glue them straight on the wall; learn the side-effects thereof the hard way?
Ah cheers! And re side effects, thankfully no. Because I've always been in rented places before I've never been able to stick on the walls directly so I've had to be creative. I've heard it can be very difficult cleaning off stuck on wall tiles though.
Does this studio have an official name yet, like the Bamboo Forest (?)
Not yet, but it's not finished yet so still deciding. At the moment it's just "The Home Studio" XD
@JabunAudio hokay
Marshall Valvestate 2000 (AVT50) combo?
Yup! The AVT50X to be specific. I think the X is just aesthetic though :) I really like it! Great and flexible Marshall tone for price vs size/weight
Thank you.

@JabunAudio yee
1 second in and I love your voice.
Thanks so much! That's not a compliment I usually get XD
That sounded kick ass man your really making big improvements. You learn pretty good on the slide keep playing every day like that you're going to get really good already playing slide better than I can and I been playing 40 years
Ah thanks so much! I must admit, I've been a bit lax on my slide lately, especially in Open G tuning, but I've been meaning to get back to it :)
that thing is sweet!
It sure is :D Cheers!
Yeah your doing pretty good at playing just keep on practicing and learning you will really be great i think. Good video
