When Chess Pieces Become ZOMBIES!? - Winter v Capablanca
National Master Jesse Cohen (CEO & Head Coach of Summit School of Chess) reveals the terrifying truth: some moves turn your beloved chess pieces into undead pawns trapped in a strategic graveyard.
In this video, Master Cohen dives deep into the advanced concept of "Zombie Pieces": chess positions where pieces become utterly useless, their potential as good as devoured by a horde of bad decisions.
** But don't despair!** Master Cohen isn't just here to diagnose chess-piece rigor mortis. He'll equip you with the antidote:
Identify the symptoms: Learn how to spot Zombie Pieces before they drag down your entire army.
Perform an autopsy: Master Cohen dissects classic examples of Zombie Pieces, exposing the fatal moves that led to their demise.
Vaccinate your game: Discover prophylactic strategies to keep your pieces healthy and kicking (figuratively, of course).
This video is perfect for:
Ambitious chess players: Take your game to the next level by understanding the concept of Zombie Pieces.
Strategists of all kinds: Learn how to avoid dead-end scenarios in any competitive situation.
Anyone who's ever felt like their chess pieces are just... meh: Get your strategic mojo back with Master Cohen's insights!
Don't let your pieces suffer an eternal pawn-demic! Click the play button and resurrect your chess skills with National Master Jesse Cohen!
Bonus: Check out Summit School of Chess (summitschoolofchess.com/) to level up your game with expert coaching and resources!

I started playing in 2022 and was told when I got to 5000 games I would be good... well I guess I am kinda good but I apparently have missed something over the years or I am just a slow learner or,..IDK but I would like to get my aproach a little more on track. I just play for fun but still like improving as well, I live out by Haxtun Co on the frenchman Creek south of town In an RV cause my wife ran off with another guy and chess has filled the void she created. So hit me up if you want if not thats cool too, just testing the waters.

Very instructive video, Jesse! I liked at 20:19 where you explained how White's e4-pawn is pushed further than Black's d6-pawn, allowing White's pieces more room to operate.

Hi i just wanted to ask Jeremy Silman's book of how to reassess your chess talks about planing based on imbalances and flores rios book chess structure talks about planing based on pawn structure of a particular opening please suggest what to do how to approach the middle game

    • @jessercohen
      @jessercohen 7 місяців тому

Both are important. There is no wrong way to do it but what is ESSENTIALY is figuring out what are the details of the position that should inform you (the player) what the correct ideas are for the position.

Know bugger all about chess. Can’t even castle correctly… but I managed to win. I don’t think what they are thinking much, I just use common chess rules. I can’t think that fast or advanced. Instead I just try to confuse them…. Works sometimes, especially for a beginner. Eg. In second example, I can’t think your advanced moves. I and perhaps many others would play rook to attack Queen, this unblocks the square for a Queen checkmate. As I said I wouldn’t be able to think to your level…

    • @jessercohen

Thanks for the update buddy. Proud of you and your persistence. Remember the three key ingredients to improving at anything 70% is your own daily practice The other 30% is having a coach to guide you and tournaments to compete in. Both of these will drive you and push you to new limits.
