    glasses weare are always an afterthought. most headset are designed to be used without glasses. its contacts or inserts for us. but inserts are only usefull if you dont have high prescription values. i have -7, this makes the glas on the inserts really thick. combined with the added hight of the adapter frame, this lead big comfort problems. on my index, even on maximum eye relief setting, my eyebrows are colliding the the glas of the insert, leading to a pressure point and a sweat spot due to the contact. telling the manufactorer about it, they only said: "high values and unlucky anatomy can lead to that result, nothing we can do" after asking about costum made lenses with cutouts or something they just replied "no way of doing costums design for user, would requier different machines and the market for selling lenses like this, is to smal to have profit, 90% of all sales, are below -5,5dpt.." so ye, thanks for nothing but adding salt to the wound. this wouldnt be a problem, if i could just wear contacts.. but astigmatism of -2,5 and red-bloodshot eyes even after 15 minutes of wearing them, rule that out

    The biggest problem I have with the Quest 2/3, is that I need a Facebook account to use it. This is a deal breaker for me. I don't use social media, and I refuse to let my investment be disabled if I am accused of wrongthink.

    I know this headsets not perfect due to the lack of audio quality and lense adjustment but I have a feeling this is the headset that might suit my needs. It's wired so no battery life to worry about, only needs steamvr alone to activate, has controllers that probably won't break fast like the index ones and they have batteries that can be swapped out. I was going to buy the bigscreen beyond but there's a few flaws to that headset due to the lenses being oleds being more likely to burn out and only convenient for the beyond are the index ones which break quickly and I'm in no position to rebuy $279 controllers every few months. So for right now I might actually buy this the DPVR E4 instead just as a replacement for my hp reverb g2 because in 2026 windows mixed reality may be completely bricked forever meaning I might never be able to use it again. And maybe later when I have a safer income to keep up with frequent expenses I'll buy the beyond. I personally hate how meta quest is mainly wired due to the battery dying fast and having to wait hours to recharge. I would probably prefer DPVR E4 over meta quest.

  • @FixingGlobe
    @FixingGlobe 10 місяців тому

    Something you should mention is that if you're female is that your IPD is lower than the average and somehow the most beta testers for a headset were male. My IPD is 60.5 mm and I'm a bit above average and some headsets can't go lower than 60 as a reference. The absolute max tolerance for IPD setting (from my personal non professional research) is 1mm so if you can't hit the perfect 0.1mm (my Valve Index allows such fine adjustments) don't worry about it too much. For apps on iOS I recommend to use both "EyeMeasure" featured in this video (requires iPhone X or newer) as well as "GlassesOn" (requires a credit card not to buy smth but as a reference object). If measured correctly both should give you a similar result. Also if you wear glasses (like me) please get some prescription lenses.

    3:11 yes, that does damage them over time. I used to wear glasses with my Quest 2, and they occasionally rubbed the lenses, and after just a few weeks there were noticeable scratch marks. I was lucky enough to be able to get an RMA though because the screens had some annoying dead pixels anyways

    04:33 IF I were to get this... thankfully I already have a solution! I have 2 clothes-line pully wheels mounted above head for my Reverb G2 cable so it hangs above and not down my spine. Came can be done for the DPVR E4 cable I would think.

    If I _don't_ wear my glasses when using a VR headset, I can't see anything. If I _do_ wear my glasses, the headset doesn't fit. HONS does _not_ make any inserts that even comes close to matching my prescription.

    ok, i just tried the ps5vr2 with my wife. cant tell you numbers. the digital adjust tells me that my idp is almost center of the range the devies offer.. my wife on the other hand.. minimum setting is 58mm for the ps5vr, yet she has to go even smaler, since on 58 it still shows red but the lense housing is already colliding with her nose ridge (she has a rather big nose). so from estimate, id guess since the calibration shows a lot of way to go, that shes at 55m or even 54. which is outside of what most headsets offer and puts the lenses so close together, that theres almost no space for the nose. the thing is: no one cares, its an exeption, though luck, sucks to be you, get a different hobby

    What a bad review. 1:12 complaining about box being hard to open, really? 2:13 Valid criticism of the material but crying so much about removing it... How often do you remove the material? 3 times a day?? 6:54 Nice comparison, if a bit illegible. 8:00 I don't believe you can't see a difference, I've returned my pico 4 and went back to wmr dell visor because 17Gbps on hdmi is incomparable to 0.3Gbps on 6e wifi 1 meter next to the headset, adding latency and compression artifacts. It's very much immersion breaking, and it's a reason why every standalone VR headset is so cheap compared to tethered ones. Please make better reviews.

    1:46 - I just watched another review by a popular UA-camr, and he LOVED the face gasket. Said it was super comfortable and blocked ALL of the light better than most HMD's. They also advertise this as having a 116 degree FOV.

    • @jackr.749
      @jackr.749 Рік тому

      VR facial interfaces and FOV are very dependent on a person's face shape, long thin faces will be prone to light leakage from the sides more than someone with a more rounded face. FOV wise, people with they eyes recessed into the face will have lower FOV than someone with their eyes sticking out more, the closer you get your eyes to the lenses sweet spot, the bigger the FOV and clarity gets. VR is NOT a one size fits all and most of the time each headset has to be modded (different facial interface, over the head support straps, counter weights at the back, etc) depending on a person's facial attributes to make the HMD comfortable and to get the most from it visually and for a better audio solution (crappy built into the strap speakers).
