Shannon Falls Pools Trail - A HIDDEN GEM - Squamish, BC
If you’re planning a hiking trip to Vancouver and are looking for trail recommendations, then this video is for you. This time, we’re hiking the Shannon Falls Pools Trail, which is about an hour’s drive north of Vancouver. We picked this trail because we wanted to see Shannon Falls, but wanted something more adventurous than the paved trail at the base of the falls. What we found along the way was quite the surprise.

      There is no camping inside the park, but we camped at Camping Königstein, which is about a 25 minute drive To the parking lot of the national park. There is also a campsite in Rathen, from which you can take a boat across the river and walk right into the park which you may find more convenient. Search “campingplatz” or “zeltwiese” in google maps and you’ll find some options.

    Can anyone recommend any levadas we can do from funchal. We can get bus to them but not by car as we're not hiring a car? We are in our 50s but quite fit so just want to experience 1 or 2.

    • @trailtalestravel
      @trailtalestravel 2 місяці тому

      Regrettably most of the Levadas are not near where people live, so getting a bus directly to a trailhead is tough. I spent some time looking into this for you and didn’t see anything that jumped out. However, you can still enjoy this hike - you can take the 56 bus to Santana (about an hour from Funchal) and then take a taxi the rest of the way. It’s busy enough in the summer that you should have no difficulty in getting a taxi back to the bus stop for your return journey. The staff on site at Parque Florestal das Queimadas should also be able to help call one for you if needed.

      @@trailtalestravel Thank you for the tip about water. How much did you bring? We are thinking 3 liters plus some electrolytes and some water stored in the car for the return trip. We heard the spring water down there is drinkable but probably shouldn't count on finding it :)

      @juliedo5243 you cannot drink the river water, it will make you very sick. We’d recommend 2 litres per person minimum. Also, start earlier in the day than we did, it’ll be much cooler and easier. We started at 1pm and it was a sweat box 🥵

      @@trailtalestravel Right, yes, best to not take chances due to the toxic algae. For sure we will bring enough water and start early. Thanks :)

    In 2007 I did this with my two sons then 10 and 8 and it was amazing. Funny thing when we got back to Scouts Landing my youngest realized he left his pack on Angels Landing and had to go back to get it. Back then you didn't need a pass to hike it.

      That’s quite the story! It’s honestly something I could see one of us doing by mistake. That’s a long hike to do twice back to back!
