2021 Toyota Tacoma - Remote Mounted VHF/UHF Radio
Lots of great info in the video. I'm getting ready to install a similar setup in my wife's 2023. Non bose 6 speaker. I'm changing the door speakers to kicker front/rear. LC2i pro with a CXA 800.1 powering preloaded L7S downfiring sub. I was looking for you to mention where/how you ran your power through the firewall 🤔? Have a great weekend 😃👍👍🤙
I did this and recently changed out to Rockford Fosgate in the front and rear doors.had kickers in the front doors and Kenwood Exelons in the rear doors for a year and they sounded good but it was like night and day with Fosgates especially with rock and metal and they are more clear and louder
Thanks! We usually use a wire threading tool to use a factory rubber grommet for our power wires! If my memory serves, these cars have a fairly large open space at the bottom of the grommet that was perfect for our power wire 👌
Whats the product number for the powerd kickers ?
51PTRTP10
How did you pull signal from factory radio?
In this installation we utilized a t-harness behind the factory radio paired with the amplifier/dsp's built-in high-level inputs , this not only keeps the wiring clean, but also keeps the installation very serviceable if you ever need to R&R the radio or the amps. 😉 Here's a link to the T-harness on Amazon ( amzn.to/4g1jkI2 )
David's the real deal ! I highly recommend. He did a great job on my f250. Replaced my stock speakers and installed an amplifier.
Who tf is this video for?
This video is used help future clients meet us, get familiar with our workmanship/service practices, and also see an example of some of the products that we offer 😁. These videos are primarily used to grow our businesses but most of them can also be helpful if you are DIY-ing and looking for removal guides for the specific vehicles we are servicing 😉
where did you connected the wire hardness coming from the subwoofer i only see you connect the the ground
In this installation we tapped into the front door speaker wiring where we added in the crossovers for the new speakers 😊
dosnt the boss setup already have a sub near the spare tire?
The factory subwoofer is a good start, but a dedicated amp and subwoofer can add significantly more low-end punch! 😁
And it sucks
Excellent videos thank you for posting them. Anything been done or maybe plans with an Acura TSX wagon with navigation? 🤞
Would be nice to see the wiring high level inputs in that factory connector in the door pillar. Also where did you get the connector that plugged in there?
Can you post which wires are the speaker wires form the door panel, or a wiring diagram, also in this a non Bose system ?
Unfortunately, do to our legal contracts/agreements we can't share our technical service info with the general public, but if you would like to use the same diagrams that we do, our technical data provider does offer a reduced cost for DIYers! All of the info about their DIY service can be found here 😊 www.alldata.com/diy-us/en
I have a 2021 CX-5 with the Bose system (just like this vehicle). Bose does some strange stuff. If you plot the drive frequency response curves to both the front, and rear door speakers....you'll find things that shouldn't be there. Number one is - they send to, and below 40 Hz to the front speakers! Now you would think with a stock Bose sub as part of the system, that surely they would CUT at around 60-80 Hz to these, to not make the low freq. excursion make them go nuts....but no, it's there. And as far as the rear door speakers go, the signals do go below 60-80 Hz, but much less than the fronts. And so the Bose sub in that car - they drive from 30-70 Hz....and the 70 Hz has an 18dB/oct cut rate. I didn't use their sub's drive, OR the rear door drive. As whacky as it may seem, I used the front spkr drive to drive a JX1000/1D amp, and a single Alpine R2-W12D4 sub in a 1 cu ft. sealed box. It kicks butt. OH...Also....I installed bass blockers on the front speakers, selected to start to cut the drive below about 70Hz . This cleaned up the sound out of them very noticeably.
What sound deadener did you guys use? Sweet install .
We utilize a few different products depending on the application and goals for the client, but in this video we are using a product from Ballistic 😊 Here is a link to it on Amazon if you wanted to get some for your vehicle 😉 ( amzn.to/4gnnVnD )
Nice but why not grab your signaling from the rear bose sub and use high level inputs? Yes I know its not a full range signal but it does work quite well.
We actually are usuing high level inputs here!😉 In our testing, the doors were a bit more reliable of a signal source. There was some roll off that wasn't as aggressive on the doors, and by using the rears we weren't locked into the factory crossover frequency for the sub! Thanks for watching! 😄
Good job
Thanks!
Neat!
What seat covers are those you have installed? They look quite nice 😀
This client actually was in the process of getting the interior fully reupholstered! This is why the door panels were already removed when we started this project! The new upholstery was definitely very nice 😁
On the excursion did you setup the speed sensor wire and where did you connect it?
Generally speaking the Speed pulse isn't needed for anything other than dead reckoning position when GPS Is non functional ( like when you are in a tunnel, etc) so 99% of the time you can skip it. On these excursions, you can find it at almost all of the computer modules ( ABS, PCM, wiper module, overhead trip computer, instrument cluster, etc) but the simplest place to grab it is usually the cluster since your right next to it for the radio install. I can't give you wiring information but if you have access to factory service info it would have all the information you need! If you don't own a factory service manual for your car, I recommend Mitchell 1's DIY service 😃 www.eautorepair.net
What voltage do you usually set for the low voltage cutoff? Would 11.8v be ok on a cx-5?
The answer to this question really depends on your goals, battery chemistry, battery age, and climate :) I wouldn't ever want to deplete a starter battery on a vehicle below 50% state of charge which is about 12v on a standard flooded lead acid battery. If you are in a warm climate, you might be OK to push the battery a bit harder, to get more record time. If you change the battery to a deep cycle type battery 11.8 should be fine. On the other end, If you have an AGM type battery I wouldn't push it past 12.2 or 12.4. The best solution if you are looking for extended key off record time is a stand alone battery bank for the dash camera. This keeps the drain off the starter battery, and lets the dash cam run WAY longer than connecting to any starter battery!
link's dead.. nice video btw!
Thanks! Seem to be working on my end but Ill take a look with another phone to be sure :)
Do I need a lc2 pro to make it sound better
In our testing on this CX-5, we didn't find any need for an LC2i. The Kickers FIT input works perfect for this :)
@@user-nv4vx2fv8m It improves the sound yes . The CX 5 with the Bose unit shuts off the subwoofer 35 volume .
nice job 👍
Thanks!
Thank you for showing the panel removal process. A lot of videos skip over that.
Thanks for the feedback!
What trim panel did you use? I notice that the Prius has the silvery textured plastic dash, as did the original radio control panel. The new one doesn't have the right texture, but does look much closer in color than the typical black one. Also, what will the XAV-AX5500 be able to do (if anything) about the car setup functions previously available via the bottom right button on the old control panel, no longer present? Thanks!
The dash kit used here was from Metra! 😀 amzn.to/46zV1x4 It does look a bit silvery here but that may just be the sheen of the light on the panels, cause the kit is matte black. I'm not super familiar with the UI of the factory radio so I'm not sure what options are within the button you are asking about , but most of the vehicle settings adjustments would be retained with a Maestro compatible radio and an MRR interface!
Wow, that is a lot of work. Is there any direct replacements for the speakers without messing with the factory radio and amp?
The audio in these videos has improved so much. Real nice looking install too.

What a clean install! Real quality work.
That's a clean install!
