How I Price My Tattoos As A Self Taught Artist
Переглядів 1,9 тис.Рік тому
Hi guys!! Quick little video that covers some of the factors that go into how I price my work as a tattoo artist. This topic sits in a lot of grey zone and can't really be answered with a "how to" video in my opinion, however there are some factors that each artist can take into account when coming up with prices for their work and I cover those here. PS don’t bully me about the sound quality I...

Переглядів 1,6 тис.Рік тому
Hi all ! this is an extension to the last video I uploaded. In that video I mentioned how I use google forms and Square Appointments to book my clients. This video goes more in depth on how I send large quantities of emails in batches that are all completely customized to my clients. = resources mentioned: - Part 1 on how I book clients: ua-cam.com/video/u_0dQCja1Lg/v-deo.htmlsi=Ln6a-POzJDecnIC...
How I Book Clients As A Self-Employed Tattoo Artist
Переглядів 17 тис.Рік тому
Hi guys ! Just thought I would make a video about how I get clients booked and on my calendar because I had a hard time figuring that out when I first started tattooing. This is the system that I use and that works for me, it is not perfect but it is relatively organized and I thought I would share for anybody who is lost. Thank you for the support, let me know if you have other video ideas/ to...
How I Became A Self-Taught Tattoo Artist At 19

Q&A - How I Became A Self-Taught Tattoo Artist At 19 These are all questions I pulled from a Q&A I held on my business Instagram. I am by no means saying this Is a tutorial or the “correct way” to start tattooing, it’s just what I did!! - Accounts That Helped Me: 1: www.youtube.com/@ArtSomething 2: www.youtube.com/@ThatTattooGuyOfficial 3: sanitation_station_ - SOCIALS 💌 - EMAIL:...
Hey I live in Lehi and am currently working towards the same thing. I have my blood Bourne pathogen and business license but how did you find a building to tattoo out of
Wow. ANOTHER 19 yr old know it all
Do not sleep on the power of cold emails to find and book the right clients. I have been combining Do You Mail with another cold email SaaS for about four months, and it is reliable at delivering emails with minimal hassles. Unlimited sending from unlimited domains really helps! The automatic DNS configuration is a time-saver you would not regret. If you want to build a robust system for reaching out to clients, especially if you are a solo entrepreneur, Do You Mail could definitely be your secret weapon.
Finding clients does not have to feel like pulling teeth. Mystrika is been in my arsenal for seven months, and its features are hard to beat. One thing that stands out is the automatic bounce detection, which saves me the headache of clearing out my list. The email warm-up pool in multiple languages offers unparalleled delivery rates. It is a setup I would recommend to any creative trying to broaden their clientele. The good vibes this brings to your workflow are priceless. Go ahead and see for yourself!
Hey, cold emails are not just about the hustle, it is an art, too! Mystrika has been my go-to for almost half a year. With their high-quality email warmup, sending out personalized emails is no longer a techie nightmare. The community of 7000 users provides a nice safety net for any issues you might run into. If reaching out to potential clients feels overwhelming, Mystrika makes it feel manageable and ever so rewarding. Do not take my word for it, give it a whirl!
I have been using Do You Mail for the past three months paired with another cold email platform, and it is shifted my client bookings into overdrive. The unlimited email sending feature and dedicated IPs assure high deliverability that I struggled with before. It is scalability at its best, and the price point is unbeatable in my experience. If you are looking to expand your reach without breaking the bank, this would be a solid choice.
Feeling the struggle of getting seen? With Mystrika is AI writing and personalization, my emails have not just been seen, they have been felt. For five months, this smart tool tailored my outreach effectively. The tag management options keep everything orderly, which as you know, matters when you are trying to stay organized. It is an investment in attention-grabbing. If your client roster is growing slower than you would like, Mystrika is a worthy companion.
So did you have all 3 things completed before tattooing your friends? ,..Sorry I’m just a bit confused because the 3rd thing you said was HEALTH DEPT CERTIFIED SPACE so were you tattooing friends before you found a space and was that legal? ..
how many hours a day/week did you put in and for how long?
How could I become a tattoo artist so I could be having a side business
Thank you so much for the advice! I’ve been struggling sorting through DMs and messages. Procrastinating making an actual process, but you broke it down so simple. Much appreciated 🙏
Great video first off! I have one question I’m starting to learn how to tattoo on fake skin and a few friends to practice. But I can’t really get a tattoo for myself cus I have a religious belief with god and Jesus Christ. My question is can I still be a tattoo artist with having no tattoos myself?? I would really appreciate anyone to let me know if that’s okay
I apprenticed, but I feel self taught. My first mentor was and is absolute trash. No joke. I was just desperate to get in the door. My second mentor just wasn’t good at TEACHING. Best boss I’ve ever had tho.
I’ve heard this so often and it’s so unfortunate!!! Definitely not saying that all apprenticeships are awful but it’s so disheartening how often I hear such similar stories!
Would be cool to see an update on what you have been up too
Hi Hailey, big fan of your videos. Im covered in ink and draw as a hobby, seriously considering taking the jump. I'd be curious to see how you design your flash, and the process behind that. Might make for an interesting video idea!
Is 30 too old to start trying to get into the tattoo business? 😭 I’ve drawn my whole life but I’m just now feeling like I want to be creative as a job
Of course it isn’t too old !!!!! 30 is younggggg don’t even stress 💌
this is awesome <3
Hi Hailey, just saying thanks for sharing your thoughts on being a self taught artist. Your videos are great, you’re also really cute in a good way. I’ve been studying for the last 3 years and am just now laying down some ink. Thank God for procreate and stencils!
lovely video 🩶
Do the responders have to have a google account to answer the form?
I am also a self taught tattoo artist and I am signing a lease for a studio tomorrow... Instantly subscribed since our stories are so similar <3
I wish I knew you in real life I have more questions- I feel like I CANT be a tattoo artist because my LINES aren’t perfect. I can’t draw a perfect straight line, I can’t draw a perfect circle, my art has always been what I call “perfectly imperfect art” “trashy art” I paint and I draw but there are flaws. With tattoos I see them so CLEAN and perfect. I don’t think my art style fits. My friends and family always told me to tattoo.
Hi Amber !!! It sounds like you’re a great artist and have the potential to be a great tattoo artist! There are a few options. There are tattoo artists who tattoo “careless style” tattoos (more illustrative, doodle designs). This could also be a situation that would be worth seeking an apprenticeship as they would have you doing certain drawing exercises to tighten up those lines !!!! So many factors to consider but I hope that this response is even mildly helpful!!!
honestly u act to mature to be19 in my opinion
Wow. You got any tats?
20 and counting ! Can’t wait to get more 😇 There’s so many amazing artists I can’t wait to book with from all around the world!
We know it was for the rizz Hailey.
So useful! thank U!
Do you have the Google forms available for anyone to click fill out and send to you or do you have to personally send a link to them to fill out?
I typically put the link in my instagram bio and then just take it down when I feel like the form has enough submissions, I hope this answers your question!
You're more interested in social media that tattoo art. Fake.
You’re so right 😍
im just getting into tattooing and i live in ut in cottonwood heights wow what a small world what is the name of your tattoo shop?
Mood🤞🏾
Thank you for your story!! Im an aspiring tattoo artist and have been struggling to land an apprenticeship for 2-3 years now, so I’ve been thinking to possibly start myself and I love hearing others stories of succeeding at the same thing. Sub from me ❤
Do you just have to have a business license to start buying from licensed tattoo suppliers? And where do you buy those things. I live in Arizona so it would be different but is there an online supplier that is professional and reliable?
Im just getting started and your videos have made me more confident about booking 😊👌🏽 ty
same!
Dude… super simple process that gets the job done. I’ve been looking at booking software etc but this method seems more familiar and FREE. Thanks for sharing!
This is the method I also use a form. 💕
So why did u leave your private studio to work at someones else's shop?
❤❤❤❤
This is awesome, thanks for sharing! I just got a tattoo gun recently and have been starting that journey of research and practice! Who knows what’s to come
Woaaa super helpful❤❤❤❤
Ur an i inspiration to me♥️
Thanks so much
thanks to this video i was able to make a website for my tattoo portfolio. thank you :)
Omg ! So glad it helped !!
thanks babe
Awesome to see how easy you make this look, Thank you! 🙏🏽 You should do a product review of both equipment and technology for some future content.
Thank you so much! This has been exactly what I’ve been looking for. There’s a lot of courses that I see online and in person for the tiny tat and fine line tattooing that give you a certification. I’m assuming that certification is not something that’s required in Utah?
Hi !!! No absolutely not it’s purely a piece of paper that says certificate but means absolutely nothing to Utah’s health and safety guidelines for tattooing. Not to say that you can’t gain some valuable information from those “courses” but it is just a made up certificate. So glad I could help ! =)
I’ve been tattooing for 17 years and this is proof of what I’ve be en talking about a lot about lately. Apprenticeship is becoming long lost tradition. In all honesty even those of us that had an apprenticeship ultimately taught ourselves. It does make me sad though that the history is lacking in being self taught. One thing I did gain from my apprenticeship is learning who is who and what each person gave to our history. I’m currently working on building a remote apprenticeship program that would include this and could be used as a guide tool to help artists seeking the self taught route. I do hope to work with different states to meet the standards they have for licensing. The industry is changing and a lot of the old guys are freaking out instead of learning how to guide it in the right direction.
This is a fantastic way to word it !!! This was just a silly Q&A and I have a lot more I’d like to discuss about the topic. You make great points and I appreciate the comment, have a good day!
Omgg if u ever set up that remote apprenticeship I'd love to hear about it!
Interesting what you are saying about apprenticeship. For ep.15 of my podcast I spoke with a tattoo artist who had been an apprentice and then now has her own studio. Actually did the interview while she was working on someone! It's called What The Hell Is My Job!?
Awe your awesome. 😊I hope your future light blows really bright
I’ve been trying to get an apprenticeship for months and now it’s turned into them saying it’s going to cost me at least $8000 for them to teach me that has also pushed myself to start just teaching myself
thankful the universe brought me on your channel im following a similar path! wish you love and light and success **
I came across your channel, is subbed, I just love the topics you're engaging in its super helpful as a junior artist btw do you have any tips to build/grow clientele? also happy holidays !
I will absolutely touch on this in an upcoming video !!!
Thank you so much
Thank you for sharing! Would honestly love a video on finding inspiration for designs, making flash sheets, and stencils! Appreciate your videos so much!!
This is such a fun idea, I am definitely working on a little artist vlog that encapsulates this topic !!!
