A couple of points: You really should use your TV's signal meter function if it has one to rate the antennas for signal strength. This is more accurate. There is no surprise that the antenna claiming an 880 mile range didn't perform well. No TV antenna is ever going to work past about 80 miles. Any number over that will be a lie. Generally, the bigger the lie they tell the worse the actual antenna. You really should get a set of old style rabbit ears and try them and keep them around as a basis for later comparisons. This way you have a good base line
