Restoring Capitol State Forest
Переглядів 2055 місяців тому
Capitol State Forest is one of Washington's largest and most visited state forests. At 95,000 acres, it covers the entirety of the Black Hills, a region which experienced dramatic deforestation in the 19th and 20th centuries. Today there are no old growth forests remaining in Capitol State Forest, and the DNR is targeting the oldest remaining legacy forests for clear-cut logging. As recently as...

Natural forests of the Chehalis River watershed are rapidly being eliminated by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources. In another ten years, there will be little left but tree plantations, unless we act to protect what remains.

RESPONSE to Timber Industry Climate Propaganda
I live in Washington and have all the same elements on my 60 acres, going to harvest it all this spring it’s nice second growth
Bet they won't do any fire management and years from now it will burn so hot it kills everything.
Awesome job people, you are highly respected.
I appreciate the quality and beauty of your videos and your clear message. I went dirt bike riding past a forest that was clear cut, as a Marine, it reminded me of a battlefield. The shocking visual contrast between a legacy forest and a clearcut forest might be really helpful to see in one of your videos, because many like me are just becoming aware of what's happening to our amazing forests. I understand the need for lumber, for our homes and businesses and that our very way of life depends on wood and wood products. At the same time we must understand that without trees, soil, water and the interaction between them, mankind will die a slow and lingering death. Good reasons to think about our future, and our children and grand children's future. I appreciate my father and grandfather (who's name was Forest) loving the outdoors and teaching me how to enjoy it's many benefits and blessings. I appreciate the forests I got to grow up in. It's a priceless gift from our forefather's. I would like our children and grandchildren to experience the forests as I got to experience them. There are many of us who love the forest, native and non-native American's, nature lovers, photographers, hikers, mountain bikers, dirt bike riders and off roaders. I believe most of us would prefer to spend the weekend in a Legacy Forest rather than on a clear cut mountain, rendered impassible due to the washouts of erosion, the stumps, sharp jagged tree limbs, roots and debris remaining for decades after a clear cut. For all of us who go to the forest, for many different reasons, united we stand, or divided we, and the forests, will fall.
What a beautifully done video! Thank you for your efforts to bring attention to Legacy Forests that are being sold for clear cutting right underneath our noses!
Beautiful! Our forests are essential for the health of the planet and people. We need to start to rally in bigger ways for our forests before they are gone.
How can anyone see these places and not feel a spiritual responsibility to protect them?!
Very informative and unemotional as well as reasonable. 😊
Such important information for people to know! We must rally to protect these remaining forests before its too late... Thank you LFDC for all you are doing to create awareness and protect our natural lands.
Congratulations on your efforts to save our ecosystem, especially Harstine Island Flats. Please keep me posted on any changes.
Such a beautiful and telling video. This work is so important. Here is hoping for more legacy forests to be saved by this difficult but rewarding effort.
Very Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Great work, this is so important due to the climate and biodiversity crisis! Hopefully the momentum is building to save even more of these legacy forests.
Thank you so much.
This is so messed up!! And so sad!!!
People. We can't allow our last remaining legacy forest trees. We don't need thus money for education. STOP THIS NOW!
How dare they sell our last legacy Forrest. What about all the animals that have lived there for generations.
Bahahah, recently busted for misusing funds (cheating) on 2024 elections....
I buy toilet paper from a company that uses 100% recycled paper. It's shocking to me that all "final use" paper like this and paper towels ever use virgin wood pulp.
Humans are either going to destroy this place in 50 years or 5,000. Might as well enjoy the fruits of what is around while it's around, whether that's hiking in an old growth forest, or building your home out of it. There really is no difference. Blink of an eye.
