WYPTE Class 144 Pacer DMU on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway
Footage of WYPTE Class 144 Railbus / Pacer DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway which was operating the diesel service on my visit.
While I'm not a massive fan of riding on these trains as I used them a lot when they ran on the rail network in the North of England, the West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Exectutive / Metro red livery is one of my favourite modern liveries. I just took a short journey on this train, with one of the positive aspects being able to see into the Cab on the journey.

Beautiful...and impressive...very GWR...🎉❤😊
Thank you, I’m glad you appreciated it!
Damn the 825 still loud
Lovely ex br standard 4mt
This Lancs & Yorks engine has a lovely steady beat, climbing away from Keighley - where so many slip on that initial curve out the station (remember City of Wells in years gone by!). The Worth Valley and Bluebell (for me) are the two lines that really feel like working branch lines that just happen to have amazing motive power, rather than a preserved/heritage line staged for us to enjoy. Thanks for filming, editing and sharing this wonderful film.
Thanks so much for the kind comment :) I agree that the Bluebell and KWVR have a nice feel about them. I also like that you can see into the Cab on this one.
WESTERNS never ran with Air Con stock as the had no ETH.
It definitely happened. See below: www.railforums.co.uk/threads/pf-ukrt-western-champion-one-way-wizzo-railtour-14-4-24.264318/post-6726519
Excellent. I filmed this from Apesford but on the other side. Neil Fish, crossing keeper, can be seen on this film. Brilliant gala, and both your films very nice indeed. Well done.
It was indeed a brilliant gala. Thanks for your feedback! :)
Brilliant an interesting vidio
Thank you!
0:56 Now, that is how you do a shot transition! Well done!👏👏
Haha, thank you, I didn’t have much choice:D
Where was the location of the first one. With the freight trains in the open fields ? Also I was watching 34046 Braunton at Doncaster during the dayc
Hi the first one was a foot crossing close to Trent Junction near Gainsborough, thanks for watching and I hope that helps
@ brilliant! That has helped a lot
That's the best video I've seen of CVR. I'm there most weekends as I live close by. I'm on this film, in the trees by the Black Lion at Consall, so you are on my film. Must have been difficult to film for so long at the window but you made something great, and credit for composure, something often overlooked, it is easy on the eye. Very surprised you haven't got many more views, and I'm the first to comment. I will share this film with the CVR crew who will no doubt enjoy it. Thanks.
Thank you so much for your kind words! It’s a fantastic railway; one of the few places where you can see steam working genuinely hard in the UK. I’m still very much finding my feet with filming and youtube, so I greatly appreciate your support. Just fyi: this is my favourite run on the CVR just for pure thrash and drama: ua-cam.com/video/gYTYW5UpaDY/v-deo.htmlsi=GtrZb8P0WvwZCWF3
@iskra1234 I've shared your film on Memories Of Churnet Valley Railway fb group, and generated some interest. I'll take a look at the other film after work tonight. Cheers. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, the second video is better with the sound up :D
@iskra1234 volume always on eleven here!
Didn't even know about that turn. Most of that freight used to go through Retford. Down to one, maybe two a day now. Can' beat that Bulleid 'chat' as it accelerated away from you. Thanks. Are you arae of the Friends of Lea Road Station that keep it so smart?
Yeah that line has really picked up in recent years, even the passenger service too. Yeah it is a nicely kept station, but could benefit from better facilities I feel!
Looks like you had a good day after you left us at B & Q. Thanks for the company.
@@tedsabin2504 Thank you so much once again! I might see you there for the Black 5 in December :)
@@iskra1234 Liz has already prompted me on that one so its in the diary.
Like your footage 👍Bit puzzled by you saying thanks to Network rail as unless you work for them they certainly shouldn’t be letting you film from that location on the track even if it is a crossing 🤷
Thank you! A Network Rail Track gang assisted me in getting to that location and they were helpful in offering to keep the noise from their work down while the loco passed by. I was behind a user-worked (farm) level crossing barrier, so on public land and safe, although the zoom on the camera does make it look like I was closer to the track than I really was :) Thanks for watching!
@@iskra1234No problem 👍Didn’t want to seem critical as I know just what a zoom can make things look wrong. Regards Steve
So cool!!
Glad you liked this! :) Thanks for watching
7029 has been a favourite ever since my dad took me to Tyseley when I was 5 in 1969! 4472 was also there before she headed off to the USA. Thanks for this.
That's awesome, the Castle Class has really grown on me this year! Thanks for watching :)
Brilliant video!
Thanks Henry!

Couldn’t agree more John! Thanks for watching!
All 3 cylinders working hardc and sounding great
Lovely, but why the 37 on the back ? Nothing against the 37’s mind you ! Love a tractor ❤ Great video, thank you. It’s been far too long since I’ve been on the footplate, not since an NA on Puffing Billy at Belgrave or a Mallet 0-6-6-0T the Vivarais Railway. Retirement from SNCF in 2 years time can’t come fast enough for me so I can get back to volunteering.
Thank you! The 37 was an operational necessity at the time; the service couldn’t run to Keighley due to engineering work there, so had to terminate at Ingrow West where there is no run-round loop, so a locomotive at each end of the train was simpler to run.
@@iskra1234 I’m definitely in need of a steam "fix"😂 I’m getting withdrawal symptoms !
@@iskra1234I’ve been out of the UK for quite some while, but I thought preserved railways running under an LRO were limited to 25mph? I have the impression that this beauty is doing a bit more than that ?
@@iskra1234 subscribed great video!!!
I mean 25 is very much the official speed limit, as you say. Occasionally I have my doubts about the adherence to that, but it is only mere speculation of course.
Lovely ex ly loco
Good catch im seeing it at 2200
Thank you! Hope you enjoy it!
Saw it and it was amazing
@TrainspottingPerson Awesome! :D
That was cool to see her Wheel-slip But at the same time if it was that bad at getting out of the station with a passenger train why didn’t they use another engine to bank behind perhaps like a diesel or maybe a second steam engine to give it a boost to start maybe ? That would have been a better idea But hey Ho it made it out anyways down the line . Good on the ivatt and the driver in the cab fireman too . And I love the LMS maroon on her Ok bye 😊

@@trailwayt9HG Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed this :)
Great shot! The InterCity Sun livery really suits these locos....but I'm note so sure about the new two-tone blue.
When you were in Italy did you see the E401?
Yes, I did see some of these :)
How you knowed the name of the locomotive ?

Fantastic footage! I was in coach B for the day and the front vestibule in A looked very crowded for most of the day😅
Thank you! Yes, I did see you from a distance (I was sat with you for Sir Nigel Gresley last year). I was coach A and was surprised how relaxed they were about things, but it was nice to be treated like an adult on a railtour!
