Love most forms of music (can't get into jazz and country though) but definitely fall into the metal category more than anything, bands like Thin Lizzy, Suicidal Tendencies, Priest, RATM, Electric Callboy... however we can't speed along at 100 miles an hour all the time. When it comes time to slow down ABBA is my band of choice (OK, Sade and Bob Marley too), every freaking song has a hook, harmony, or catchy soundbite that rivals anything Black Sabbath does ha ha. Don't know how or why, but ABBA speaks to me just as much as Metallica 😉🤣

Roy Wood from wizard threw a custard pie in Noddys face in the 1973 top of the pops Christmas show, because slade beat wizard to the Christmas number one. Both bands were great friends from the Midlands.

Its not officially Christmas in the UK until Noddy says so. If you like Slade have a look at the likes of Sweet, Mud, Wizard. The only big glam rock bands that probably made it to America were T-Rex & Queen

Slade's best track by far is 'How does it feel', it rarely gets a mention.

On a couple of their studio performances of this song (in this compilation), which has often hit the UK top ten chart around Christmas since 1973, some over imbibing of the 'Christmas spirits' might have occurred - the boys liked a good pint of beer! The custard pie lead singer Noddy Holder got to the face was from rival band Wizard's lead singer Roy Wood (they're good friends). Written by Noddy and bassist Jim Lea, and recorded in New York during the hot August summer of 1973, it was released in November and went straight to no. 1 in the UK charts, selling 1 million 7" singles in its first week alone. In recent years the Performing Rights Society (that handles payments to artists for airplay/cover versions/song use in TV and films, etc - like Dr Who) has quoted royalties of £512,000 annually, but the Daily Mail newspaper estimates it’s more like £1 million. Noddy often says “It’s like having a hit record every year. So it’s a nice pension plan, I’ll say that”.

Slade were huge in the UK in Glam Rock scene of the early to mid 70s. Their hits included "Cum On Feel The Noize" and "Mama , Weer All Crazee Now" - both of which were subsequently covered by Quiet Riot.

Rudy was recently selected among the top 25 music industry executives in Latin America for 2024. He had worked as a crew for Titanic & couple of other Hollywood movies. This explains why The Warning music videos from their earlier days were so well produced. Judging from this clip he could have been a good singer as well. He is a father figure to the girls. And his contributions to the band's success is legendary including how he got The Warning to open for Muse in Mexico in Jan. 2023.

He did some live performances recently and posted them on his youtube. He also is doing exactly what you just mentioned and has started a small venue tour singing mostly songs from the new album but also throwing in oldies but goodies including pillowtalk; however, its pillowtalk REimagined in a new vibe.

Yay we are finally back to Zayn! This entire album is a heartbreaking masterpiece - So raw, so bluesy and this song in particular has the same vibes to me as Harry "As it Was" where the message is actually really sad but its an upbeat kind of song.

My favorite Rudy story is the day he went to the Villarreal home to meet with the parents for the band manager job. It was in the evening and eventually the girls walked into the room in pajamas with their hair still wet from showering. After introductions the girls asked Rudy if he’d like to see them play. He responded, “You mean now?” They went down to the Cave and started jamming, Rudy was so moved he had tears running down his face from what he was witnessing. The rest is history.
