    A lot of these tools are Chinese they do the job but are not made for continuous heavy work the same stuff comes out of Aldi they are basically mechanical canon fodder in more stressed work situations I've bust a good few of these types of tools & I have been at it over 45 yrs in engineering work😉

    Great video Dobby I've had a problem with metal Mary my car she's just started randomly cutting out while driving so what I've done so far I've checked for vacuum leaks on the air intake no cracked hoses I've changed the battery as the electronics need a steady supply of 12 volts and my battery was failing I've also changed the crank position sensor as this can randomly cut out the car when faulty was only 10 ponds also changed the fuel filter also 10 pounds also as she's done 50 thousand miles and needed changing anyway I don't have a gauge to check the pressure on the fuel rail but the only thing left is the fuel pump or it could be the ignition switch as the cars 23 years old with the same switch it could be the connections worn out in that switch causing random power lose the coil pack I've changed and it's nothing to do with the plugs just hope it's not a fault in the ECU but I don't think that's it any ideas mate ? Fuel pumps are expensive so leaving that till last I thought you might want to do a video on cars that randomly stop in the future it would be helpful to people and make a good video keep up the good work mate 💯🤔👍

    • @dobbyrepairs
      @dobbyrepairs 29 днів тому

      That's not fun it Sounds like you checked nearly everything you have checked the fuel pump relay And the temperature sensor if that's playing up it will make the car shut off to protect the engine but out of the ignition switch or fuel pump id do the switch first as it's more likely does it restart straight away after it cuts or doesn't it play up about starting again ?

    • @martindoyle766
      @martindoyle766 28 днів тому

      @dobbyrepairs hi Dobby yes it's a pain but interesting the fuel relay is kicking in ok not faulty hmmm you say temp sensor do you mean oil temp sensor ? As I don't see an oil temp sensor on the car anywhere ? Unless it's a dual sensor with the oil level sensor which is next to the oil filter housing is the oil level sensor also incorporating the oil temp sensor 2 in one ? I've been thinking the oil temp sensor myself so I've. Put that in my phone and nothing comes up on oil temp sensor for the car 206 the car restarts straight away and no more problems for 20 or so miles till she does it again sometimes the warning light comes on sometimes not when it does come on she puts up a po300 code ( multiple cylinder misfire ) the oil level is also bang on just above half way on the stick with clean oil in I think you. Could be on the right lines with the temp sensor the dash temp sensor reads correct always your right an oil temp sensor if it has one ? would shut down the engine if faulty also the dash temp sensor yes I will change the ignition switch before the fuel pump good idea thanks a lot for your advise let me know if the 206 has an oil temp sensor thanks doing my head in trying to find that on the car automatic cars have that sensor normally lol was thinking the 206 might have one 🤔 you know your stuff mate good to talk to someone with vast knowledge on cars thanks so much for your help it's much appreciated 👍🤔💯

    • @dobbyrepairs
      @dobbyrepairs 28 днів тому

      I did mean the engine coolant temp sensor which is fairly easy to test with a multimeter I believe the oil sensor is a 2 in one deal given the car restarts straight away makes me think that could still be the fuel pump relay I've had them fail under load and then be fine for a few miles then fail again the only other thing that I have thought of is bad fuel I don't think it's very likely considering you have changed the filter good luck hopefully you find the cause

    • @martindoyle766
      @martindoyle766 28 днів тому

      @dobbyrepairs hi Dobby yes I thought it might be a 2 in one deal the oil level and oil temp sensor I might also change that sensor if all else falls! I see yes I will change the fuel pump relay I've not had problems with them myself they have failed or worked for me cheers for your advise on that it could be a possible cause then i would sooner change that than change the fuel pump only to find it's a bad behaving relay afterwards and only cheap to change nice one 👍i don't think there's any crap in the fuel as the car goes 20 odd miles then plays up unless it's crap recirculating but if all else falls I'll flush out the tank I'll change the relay tomorrow I think I'll also change that ignition switch also It must need changing after all those years switching on and off yeah thanks hopefully find out what it is with there being so many possibilities makes it hard to locate the problem pesky po300 code lol thanks again Dobby top man 👍🤔💯

    • @dobbyrepairs
      @dobbyrepairs 28 днів тому

      It's a hard code to find a reason for as it's so vague but I like the way you have worked though all of the possibilities keep me updated on the progress hopefully metal Mary will be back up to full operating capacity soon

    Hi Dobby remember I changed the gearbox rods on my Peugeot 206 1.1 well all was fine but now i just did 32 miles today and had trouble getting second gear 4 times in that distance 32 miles I don't think it's the gears Synchromesh as there would be grinding getting the gears and the clutch is only 6 mounts old what I think it could now be is the clutch cable stretched I had a look in my old heynes manual and it said that it's possible to reset the self adjuster on the cable therefore pulling more on the gearbox lever hopefully making getting the gear better I thought I would try this before the fitting a new clutch cable (the nightmarish job ) I have never tried this adjusting before and I was wondering if you have done this job resetting the clutch adjuster on the clutch cable and if it worked or if I would just be waste of time and just fit the new cable cheers mate any advise on this would be great 🤔💯👍

    • @dobbyrepairs
      @dobbyrepairs Місяць тому

      That's a bit of a pain it could well be the clutch cable I've only reset one cable on a rover 200 it lasted for about 1000 miles before I had to done it again so I just changed the cable the second time if I was you I'd bite the bullet and do the cable if you try the reset get some strong cable ties or cord it'll make it much easier

      @@dobbyrepairs yeah left hand drive versions only have a short cable and are so much easier to get your hand in on right hand models there's a plastic wiring trunking right in your way you have to disconnect lots of wires to get the trunking out of the way then try to squeeze you hand in past the remaining loom and try and see what your doing at the same time with your hand blocking your view where the pedal its great design well done Peugeot 👏 lol 😠 if Peugeot had thought about it they could have made an access panel in the bulkhead just above the cable so you could put your hand through the bulkhead and so simply clip the fitting clip on top of the clutch pedal it would be a simple job then that end i could do with a tiny hand easy then lol my hands are like shovels a very awkward job indeed think I will pre order a hospital bed for my neck and back lol 👍💯🤔

    Hey, thanks for video! However I encountered an issue - how did you get the old spark plugs out of it's socket? I unscrewed the spark plug but it seems like my socket doesn't have any magnet to pull it out. I have no idea how to safely get it out.

    • @dobbyrepairs
      @dobbyrepairs Місяць тому

      If you have a pair of needle nose pliers you can reach in and pull it with them once it's unscrewed or if you have a pickup tool or a magnet on a stick you could use that the other option is to put something like paper or blue tack in the socket and that should wedge the spark plug in the socket enough to get it out hope that helps with your problem if not let me know and I'll try to think of other ways to get them out

    Thank you for the video. Just to add a couple of points: The slight 'corkscrewing' of the rubber boot in 1:05 is caused by the bolt head and calliper pin both rotating together. In the picture, this appears to be when the 13mm bolt head was being tightened. To keep the pin stationary while the bolt head rotates, there are 'flats' on the pin head, (4:54 between thumb/finger) which allow mole grips or similar to anchor the pin while rotating the bolt head. Also, I found I could push the brake piston in using my thumbs - so try this first. Hope this helps and thanks again!

    • @dobbyrepairs
      @dobbyrepairs Місяць тому

      Yes I agree I should have used pliers or something similar to hold the caliper pin and you're also right about pushing the piston in I just used the tool because I had it to hand .
