This video will give you a starting point of understanding what ILS is and how you can spot an ILS fixture in the wild. If you are not into videos, here's a quick recap. Wait what?
Can you control the speed of auto programs. I can’t figure that out. Slow them down of speed them up.
Noticed that other videos you’ve uploaded have been uploaded onto ‘UA-cam kids’. This will do no good for the videos in question and limit people who actually want your content aka not kids
I have 2 chauvet intimidator moving heads. They’re 7-8 years old. Can I add something to make them receive ILS commands?
nope
ILS means Integrated Lighting System. NOT instant light show. When you make a video you should mYbe know wtf you're talking about
can u use dmx cable instead of d-fi usb sticks?
Great video.. quick question.. if using the command for the colorband lights are these considered par on the controller? Thanks for the help.
nope
ILS actually stands for integrated lighting system.
On the ILS controller, can you hook up DMX cables to it to run different lights
If they are ILS compatible
Do I need to upload each one or can I upload the new update only
theres no section in chauvet to update the firmware
can i use my Gigbar move with an ILS command? How?
Hi DJIdeaSharing. Thanks for vid. I feel like I might be trippin - i go to Chauvet's site (link you provided), but can't find the firmware download anywhere 😵💫
me too only owner manual and quick reference
Apparently, Chauvet have taken all the updates off its Website, and put them onto a new location
Same problem, found direct links from users to Gigbar firmware on Reddit, no Command yet
@futursoup9007 - So when I posted this video, two days later Chauvet moved those items to a different site. I will be posting a new video and link to those here soon.
@@djRockalot Here is the direct link- github.com/Chauvet-DJ/ILSCOMMAND
But how does the command know what type of fixture you are adding with XLR DFI? Wash, mover, derby?
The command just knows based on the coding.
what if i want to control various lights from other companies using the DMX out?
It will NOT work. ILS is a proprietary protocol that only works with Chauvet DJ fixtures. The "DMX" out on the back of the ILS command is labeled as "ILS Signal out"
what if i want to control various lights from other companies using the DMX out?
As of today, Chauvet no longer uses their website for the software file. Everything is on GitHub instead.
Applause!!!! You are the only person to talk about ILS De Fi XLR Dongle! Thank you!!!!
Does the wash fx work with ILS with a D-Fi xlr dongle??
No. The wash FX is not compatible with ILS.
What about a d-Fi xlr dongle? No one talks about this
What about the DFi XLR dongle? It's a wireless dmx transmitter/receiver.
Omg please, please, please make bumper and road case stickers that say “girls love nerdy djs” I need that in my life!!
with this control older fixtures. I have an original gig bar, a set of slim pars 64, and a set of 4bar usb and a set of 4plays?
ils controller only controlls ILS fixtures.
thanks
Unfortunately no. This is a newer piece of tech and would need to have ILS enabled fixtures for the ILS command to control.
BUT CAN YOU ADD A DE FI XLR DONGLE?
The question is… will a De Fi xlr dongle work… on a non Chauvet fixtures….no one seems to talk about this? I have been asking everyone
Does the controller only work with Chauvet fixtures??
Yes. This is a proprietary protocol that is only in Chauvet DJ ILS enabled fixtures.
If the fixture is not a Chauvet product… can a DeFi xlr dongle work?
@@Madness915eptx Please expand on what you are looking to do. The DFi XLR devices will work with other fixtures/brands but you have to have both DFi XLR transmitter and receivers for it to work. The ILS ecosystem is a proprietary protocol for Chauvet DJ
@@DJIdeaSharing I’m getting the gig bar move + ils. Just wanted to know if D FI XLR dongle Rx would work with other brands.
@@Madness915eptx Yes, the DFi XLR dongles will work with other fixtures as it's a DMX protocol. Make sure you are using the transmitter and receivers together.
There is NO DMX out (or inside). U can use XLR cables, but it has nothing to do with dmx! It's ils protocol out. (02:10 minute)
Apologies on that!
Can you share your settings at the 260, Dfi XLR, and at ILS Command? Thanks !
On the ILS command, DFi channel is 16. The USB sticks are set to receive channel 16. The 260 spots are set to ILS1 mode on the fixture.
This guy is so full of it. Everything he said is bullshit. Absolutely hilarious
We’ve sold all our Chauvet lights and have moved over to LightSky and SilverStar. Yes they cost more, but customer service and after sales is the best. I’d recommend buying a “sample” light you’d think you would use and do your own testing etc…. See if it’s what you’re after. That’s what I do when I’m about to invest big $$ into lights
What’s your website
Right back at you would have been nice if companies could have kept their manufacturing here in America. Oh we can't be paid competitively enough? You can't price competitively enough why would I buy a $1000 light from you when I can buy the same light for $200 directly from China. But you soldered on a nicer powerport, yep not worth a $1000 I can solder too. You go enjoy choking down your own medicine while I enjoy my $200 beams.
Hmm maybe sending your designs to China and having them built there is biting you in the ass.
You guys are all talk, taking all that money, and then when a customer needs help with the DJ line of products, y’all are no help, the DJ line is a throw away product. Spend hundreds, on throw away items. Ya all talk
Is FALSE!!! I HAVE ONE NIMBUS
I'm a professional lighting designer and tech. I have multiple years of experience in the industry. I also repair fixtures for a living. This video is complete rubbish. So I thought I'd cover the points made in this video. 1. Bringing up the patent Phillips own for RGB is, in my opinion, irrelevant. Purely because I as a consumer, don't care. This tech is basically common knowledge now. Also, you might be buying discharge fixtures. Also, Phillips will not be knocking on your door for patent money. That's just scaremongering and is just silly. I think they would only vaguely care if a large national or international installation was made up of these, but even then ..🤦♂️. 2. We know they are not the same but depending on application and price point, I don't care. As he said, they don't all come out of one factory in China. Some, I agree are dodgy, but this is just down to a little research. There a few tiny stage lighting companies out there the happily cover the fixtures with there own unique branding (e.g. DAGE and FineArt lighting). These kind of companies are popping up everywhere and are actually very helpful. In addition, most of these companies recognise that safety is a big concern to the Western world and declare the safety Certificates for you personally to check and cross-reference. 3. He is right. A good majority of these companies offer free parts which you might not feel comfortable fitting. But no, this does not mean "your done". Contrary to popular belief, there are other humans on this planet. Just take it to someone who IS tech-savvy. Besides, if you're watching this video, you probably are or at least have some experience repairing an ML. 4. If you are opening up your light to replace an LI-ON cell, you know what you're doing anyway. Also what's the big problem with soldering irons, besides, most china lights are designed to be modular as its cheaper, so will have a connector. Might I also point out that Chuavet etc.. tend to use the trick of defining their product as "no user-serviceable parts inside" meaning if I was to try and repair it, I would have no warranty. True most china companies have no warrant at all, but they are cheap, who cares. Also (in my experience with some of the companies) the customer service is BETTER. 5. UL certification is NOT a legal requirement. Yes, it is a law recognised company but its kinda pointless bringing that up as it is not a legal requirement concerning safety to my knowledge. Besides, most of the components are ultra-low voltage stuff which holds little risk. And again, yes LI-ON battery are volatile (Samsung phones exploding etc..) but they have to age, get damaged or suffer a major electrical fault to actually fail. When was the last time you heard a battery-operated par explode??? anyone...no?? Besides, some of them leave the fixtures to run for a while for quality inspection and testing. If you are concerned about LI-ON battery, I understand your perspective and for this reason... just don't buy them then. 6. He is not a good person to talk to about this. He does not work in the industry to my understanding, he wants you to buy Chauvet gear, which in my opinion is ok stuff, it's no claypaky or vl I understand but the build quality of Chauvet is well.... meh. ( although ADJ is worse). 7. "who is there to talk to" and ask for help?? Try the internet or even your local professional theatre. or just contact someone on the Facebook stage lighting group. Real-life events are not going anywhere btw. let alone PLASA. 8. If your just a DJ, then seriously it doesn't matter all that much, just do a bit of research and find a china company with a good track record. What it might be worth doing is getting a PAT test done on them, but you should be doing that anyway. Also, at the end of any light life please recycle them. Yours, Charlie. A slightly angry Theatre/concert lighting designer. 😊
One thing: ADJ’s quality is much much better than Chauvet’s quality. It’s pretty obvious, especially when it comes to their par can fixtures.
@@croissantproductions fair enough. Just based off personal experience it never lasts
@@chaz58 👍 everyone has their own opinion.
This is the good looking for machine how can I get it
From a store?
It's true that a lot of branded lights are made in china, but I'd still recommend buying branded. You get better support especially if you buy from a local DJ store. And if a branded product breaks, it's much easier to get spare parts for it than with any unbranded Chinese manufacturers (though there are some that may provide spares).
A ridiculous amount of branded lights are cheap Chinese ones with a brand label stuck on it. The adj stinger spot can be bought on eBay for $50 and it’s the same model. Even chauvet sells them
@@nickblyth166 I know about that. Even the likes of Martin and Elation have their stuff made in china, but all their lights are put through a more rigorous testing process to meet the demands of these manufacturers. Also there's tons of stinger spot/inno pocket spot knock offs.
@@andrewgrindley6773 The “stinger spot” is nowhere near as old as the Chinese versions, which have been around for several years. Most ADJ products are amazing high quality and long-lasting units but some of their lights, particularly the ones in the startec series, are definitely questionable.
@@croissantproductions yeah it isn't. ADJ also released a similar moving head called the Inno Pocket Spot before and Prolight concepts had the Fusion Spot. I think both were released around the same time.
@@andrewgrindley6773 That doesn’t mean that the stinger spot isn’t a cheap light from china. When you compare it to the older Chinese versions (which did come at the exact same time as the Inno Pocket Spot and Fusion Spot) it has the exact same design, same LED, same gobos, same colors, and more. The list could go on. Also, it isn’t compatible with the UC-IR remote, unlike the Inno Pocket Spot, which is another reason why it’s very likely that the Stinger Spot is a cheap Chinese import that has their brand name slapped on it. And yes, some lights from China definitely are great. A lot of companies get their lights from Chinese companies and put their brand name on it. I have seen this a ton, especially with Eurolite, Varytec, Showtec, and Stairville.
And Philips lights are built in Thailand. Lmao. Check out their page. Safety first!
And if chauvet was any better than Chinese lights, why aren't your warranties any better than any other Chinese lights. Lol
So rgb is patented. Lmao. Who do you think built those? I guess led is, and I guess all lights are patented. Lmao. Yeah, I'll stick to my "illegal" cheaper lights. Why aren't you saying chauvet and adj lights and components are built in china. You all just assemble them here. Lmao
The sky is falling!!!!!!
My cheap Lixada RGBW pars have lasted over four years, don't have batteries, and work as advertised. Sure, a couple lost a color, but at $30 each, I don't mind buying a couple every three or four years. And the ones that have lost a color (3 so far) I use for static lighting.
This dude can't talk. Chauvet makes their lights in China and have them shipped to the USA. They then mark them up 200 plus percent.
The Chauvet business model is no different than others. They develop the product and have it made in China, import and sell it through their distribution network and the retailer makes the final sale to the consumer. Each stop along this journey the product gets marked up to keep them in business. This is how our world works. Every purchase you make from Best Buy or similar retail establishments is exactly the same.

0:45 nice, i need that !!!
Thanks for sharing their expo booth with us!
Great service!!
its not illegal patents only apply to North America China has no responsibility to American companies.
awesome expo videos hope to get an interview with you at next years PBX
Contact Rob and he can arrange that. It would be my pleasure!
oooh, pretty!
If I spend 50$-100$ on a light and it lasts 2 years....I'm satisfied.
I’ve had 7r beams from Art Fox that are just as good if not better than clay oaky sharpies
that is great +Jacob Bartholomew
No Sharpy knockoff can be as good as a classic Clay Paky Sharpy.
