This week I'm doing a Jazz number frim New Orleans. It dates back at least 100 years, although the origins are lost in time. It has been covered by many artists and there are lots of versions out there. I've chosen to keep it simple, but with a nod to that mournful, New Orleans sound. Enjoy .........

This is a classic by The Old Crow Medicine Show that sounds like a train song (based on the old trains that slowly made their way along a scenic route in Virginia, which is now a cycle path), but there may be more here than first meets the ear!

We all remember the TV series from our childhood, but I didn't realise that the theme tune was based on a song written by Wallace Saunders, which in turn was based on a true story. It was made famous by Johnny Cash, but this is a mash up of the original and the TV theme - enjoy those memories!

It is a year since my Father passed away and this song seemed very fitting to honour his passing. It was written by Eric Clapton after his son died in tragic circumstances at just 4 years of age. This goes out to anyone who has lost a loved one - sorry if there are one or two mistakes, but I was in bits after this and couldn't record another one! Love to you all ......

We have moved west from the sunshine coast for this week's song by Journey. I first sang this at an RGS during a Charity Week performance, but for some reason have never played it since. It has a great sentiment and acts as a bit of a foil to last week's release - enjoy.......

About time for another Ed Sheeran number, this one comes from one of the Hobbit movies (we know Ed is a big fantasy fan after seeing him in Game of Thrones). However, I think Ed is privy to some higher knowledge, as the words to this could equally apply to a comet/meteorite impact upon the Earth (just like that which caused the Younger Dryas). To celebrate going to A Night in Nashville last night, I thought we'd do a good old country song, This is from the early 70s by Jessi Colter, best known for her duets with Waylon Jennings. I'd never come across her, but recently heard this song covered at the Magpies Folk Festival and wanted to do a version right there and then. Enjoy .....

We always love doing tracks by Bob Dylan - he is such a super-talented artist who makes you feel good by just singing his songs. I was reminded of this tune at the Magpies Festival we attended recently, where The Often Herd did a bluegrass version - wonderful.

Wolfie! Fun interpretation of this Young classic. Nice vocal. So, please explain the cigar box four string: uke or guitar? How is it tuned? You make it look easy and it sounds great. Cheers, Bill
@@btlocher Hi Bill, glad you liked my version. The Cigar Box Guitar is a 3 string, tuned GDg with the thinnest string tuned an octave above the thickest. It was a 4 string tuned DGBd, but I struggled to use 1 finger to press down all the strings, so took a string off and can now press down all strings evenly. I can highly recommend a 3 string guitar over a ukukele - easier to learn to play and a more bluesy sound. 👍
