I have a mental obsession for classic vehicles. I do paint and body, I modify suspensions, build axles, swap axles and metal fabrication. I'm just here to share and show my work.

My good buddy E-body Evan found this shit box with no motor and a cut wiring harness and we couldn't let it go to scrap. This girl needed a home.

I almost bought one like it, back in 1986

Awesome truck! Thanks for sharing.

@coronapack I'll take that as a compliment.
@danachick6898 Please do. Minimum. I had one but will a Hella light bar in '84. Miss it.
@coronapack i definitely see the prices on these trucks going up, get them now while they are affordable.
Love this Truck 🙌🏻🙌🏻
That truck is awesome...great job
@@robertommodt2174 I really appreciate it.

@kennethwalker3487 thank you!
Whoever edited this did great
Thanks, My son did all the editing.
What springs and Bilsteins did you use?
@skookum696 the springs are 3in rough country the shocks are also rough country i painted color matched to bilsteins and ordered decals for the shock, my shocks are fake as hell. No budget for the real bilsteins and who are we kidding it's an all leaf spring suspension them shocks aren't worth the money. Im going to post a walk around of the truck today. It's been long over do.
She’s looking good! ❤
cool car👍 "restoring" a 68 sport satellite atm I will porbably get hate as well from the purist who cares, painted it with LADA light green color, trim delete, diy console to swap to floor shifter instead column, 4wheel disc, "wrong" rear axle for the year, 69 grille, random aftermarket front seats and audio systems.. prolly gonna sticker up the hood and fender too, fk the haters rat rod look is cool too even tho i prefer the shiny paint 😁 oh and btw its not like you can actualy go and buy this stuff with money either it seems the 68 rear bumpers have been in backorder for years already... so if you find 69 bumper beter take it lol
@maxfolio940 thanks, I gave the 68 bumper away for free, but I get it what ever you do it can be undone, if your driving it it's better than it sitting outside with the owner saying I'm gonna restore it some day. Fact is it's better to do this with a satellite than an actual RR or GTX. BTW if you want nice paint and your close to costal North Carolina let me know.
@@danachick6898 Yeah exactly, these cars were made to be seen and heard. For sure you might want to keep hemi/440 gtx stuff as original as possible those are realy cool as is! But mine for example was just factory 318 without the original numbers drivetrain anyways so I didnt feel too bad to modify things... And the thing is lots of it came with the car and building with budget I had to kinda cheap out on some big buck original mopar parts, like the seats and consoles go for several thousands, crazy.. I painted the car already turned out prety nice after cut and buff in my makeshift booth, oh and Im from finland so quite a far away across atlantic. found the car from california, it was qq1 electric blue car originally from oregon so abit of crustier than typical california car😁 Still looking ro get 68 rear bumper myself too actually, think the car was towed from a ditch yanking by the bumper sometime in its life because its pretty banged up, ohwell😅
@maxfolio940 look at the build pics from mine, that back bumper is sitting in my buddy's shed out in Cali it's straight but painted and not nice painted, so worst case if don't find a rear bumper I could have him send it too you with cost on shipping. You described my car no original parts left someone already started the GTX clone. Another recommendation is check out b-bodies only for certain parts. I'll say this even on a budget Mopars are top shelf money.
Oh isee thats why the gtx emblem on the grille. And getting those already expensive parts to finland is even more fun with shipping costs on top of taxes and customs.. Its getting abit out of hand, there is one good old mopar parts specialized speed shop in germany that I have used abit but now their shipping costs have doubled last time i checked with them... Luckily rockauto stocks quite alot of usable stuff. I checked the video/pics about the build isee you had as nice paint booth 😁 the bumper seems straight indeed it might be salvageable, hard to say for sure.. i guess it depends if it was scuffed before or just painted over. Atleast it should be good for rechrome, I think there is one or two shops here in finland too that still do plating. Its quite expensive but at this point it might be only option and have to bite the bullet, your offer sounds more than fair..
@maxfolio940 just let me know, dana.chick@yahoo.com, Still setting up shop in NC and will have a legit paint booth, I still have two trucks in Cali and going to school so it's a tad busy.
glad to see people keepin em old toyotas runnin
@Jawahardware thank you, I believe they have a following, collectors will be after them fairly soon if not already.
Nice work nice color I have the same truck
@emmettdodge2613 would love to see pictures of it.
Hi I'm in Nigeria I what to buy this truck, how can I get the felly used
@emmanuelomale589 what's felly used
Nice truck. Worth keeping. One of those vehicles you will regret selling if you ever do.
@illegalgovernment that's a true statement. The vehicle I want the most is always the one I sold!
Wrong seats totally needs a correct restorations. Shameful.
@JamesJuberian So you would restore back to an original 318 satellite? Keeping in mind the seats were already done and it was already previously GTX cloned. I do see where your coming from and understand nothing on this car can't easily be undone. I would like to here your thoughts on B-bodies with racing seats and 20" rims, not my style but that's how some like to build them. Me personally I like a ratty mopar with a 70s muscle car look. If this was a real GTX I would not have built it this way, however being a satellite previously cloned I feel it gives the freedom to build it how I want without shame. If you would like to purchase it from me and do a concourse restoration you are more than welcome.
Es 20r
Why didn’t you Buy the Satellite ….because I Don’t have the Money…🤣….Welcome to My world😞
I actually really like how the paint scheme came out if I went to a car show and seen your car next to a fully restored and painted one I would probably sit and admire yours more than the painted one lol great job on it 👍✊
@veror29 thank you, I feel like it accents the body well.
Beautiful pickup with an excellent stance and proper amount of lift in my humble opinion. Excellent choice on the axles. I've driven a million miles on those TTB axles and never had a problem with any of them. Would I replace them with a solid in a new build? 100% I would, LOL. I'm a steel wheel guy myself for the past 52 years. The '79 F26 I finished last year has 10" x 16" black steels and my '71 F26 (frame off resto) I'm finishing up will have them in white. I like how you kept 1/2 ton springs in front, hopefully you did in the rear as well, much better ride. Now, if we could just add two more pistons.....
@barrynelson634 thanks for the comments, I have to say I'm not a fan of the TTB, cutting edge for it's time but I prefer the strait axle, which is why I swapped it. I know, there is a large group that loves the TTB. The rear springs are 3/4 ton, 5-6 lift, front are half ton not much needed to hold my 300 straight 6. I do want to use this truck to haul and tow so I wanted heavier springs in the rear. Also I love the 300 straight 6. Steel wheels are something I've started to appreciate more and more the last few years.
Ford guy here, to get rid of the tinny sound when closing the doors and a much quieter ride, put Dynamat in the lid, doors, behind the seat/and/or tank, floors, etc...I realize you said you were on a budget and Dynamat is fairly expensive, but it's worth it. I restored a '79 F26 last year, finishing up a '71 F26 currently and I'm going to be putting it in my '72 F25 and a '76 as well. The difference is amazing. You've got a really nice Slickside there. Good job on it. I had a '61 F11 and a '64 F10. Absolutely loved both of them.
I agree dynomat does wonders, when I have door panels off I try to ensure every tiny little thing is tight, samething as for the whole truck any little thing can cause a squeaky rattle. Door clips, mirror bolts, window cranks, glass slides, the list goes on. Also just wanted to say the best aligned and closing doors to ever roll off the assembly were the bump side ford trucks!
Beautiful car and work if your ever wanting to part with it I'd be more than happy to take you up on it❤!!!
@imeldajodibrucki8700 thank you, it's very tempting at this point, I could definitely use the cash after spending money on my shop and pole barn.
👍Ahhhhh…..music to my ears sir! I watched your back story video of your car earlier today; and I must say I like her just the way she is!
@robertmcintyre5946 thanks, it's definitely taken some time, I forgot to mention in the video how after I painted the green I almost didn't want to sand it to bring the ratty patina, it was one of those things projects that I wasn't sure how it was gonna come out. I figured worst case I'd have to paint it again.
good truck my frend exitos the Ecuador 💪🛻🛻
@yubertoledo30 thanks, I see your photo on your icon, looks good
Beautiful truck love the color as far as wheels and tires they look great on the truck I have steelies on my 70 gmc I found my tires from interco correct a/t tires
@brendaberrones2504 thanks, I really started liking more plain steel rims the last couple of years. It's challenging finding a classic 4x4 tire, specifically in a 36. I would really like an old set of ground hawgs, I see they brought them back under a different name, but there are not many options on size.
Nice car. I like the fact that you made it yours and with a flair that is quite different. I am in the process of restoring my 70 GTX. I have owned it since 79. It was previously owned by two brothers. Engine is finished. Rebuilt front end. I have all the necessary body pieces and interior to put it back together. New bumpers. Total interior just waiting to install. The color is Deep Burnt Orange. If I had welding skills I would be painting it now. Drive it and enjoy it. That is where the real enthusiasts finds the magic of ownership.
@randylear8264 I tend to paint just about every vehicle I get, I learned everything from doing it, it's gotten me pretty far. I'm planning on starting school for auto body so I can get better and hopefully help other people with classic cars, it's a real delima with body shops now a days they focus on insurance jobs and for good reason it's much faster and more profitable.
@@danachick6898 I agree. I am retired and have been working on cars since I was 15. I can rebuild engines and put clutches in. Tune them and rebuild carbs. But body work is new to me. I have a paint booth and I have been painting a lot of the body parts. So far they have been under the trunk lid. Under the fenders and inner door. Also painted the engine bay. Two stage base and clear. I hope to be proficient by the time I lay down paint on the outside of the body. I like your can do attitude. If you want it done right. Do it yourself. I just might take a course in welding. Paint and body would be a good idea too. I sure have the time😂
@randylear8264 My good friend I call E body Evan filled the mechanic gap I was lacking when doing projects. Alot of car building works well when you have two people that bring something to the table, it also makes a better product all around. Thankfully my Gi Bill can be put to use on something useful. I have no doubt you will paint your car and have a nice product.
Do what you want not anyone else fine job my friend
You did great just owning one I have one I've had since I was 14 I'm 52 I love them
Nice car 69 rear bumper
@user-tp8wx1gb9h It is dented and kinda rough but better than the 68 bumper that was on the car.
You have done a great job on this car,I would not change a thing. What size wheels on the back. lm restoring a 68 gtx but I am going to leave the original paint . I have some videos of it on UA-cam also thanks.
@heritagefarms552 255/60 15 on the front, 275/60 15 on the rear, 15x7 and 15x10s. The 15x10s are a -32 offset that comes out to 4.25 backspacing. I'll definitely check out your build! Thanks
Thanks
Think it’s looks great, I would rather have a 68 383 sport satellite then a 68 383 RR, satellites had more options and there cheaper. In my book the only mistake people do on mopars in my opinion is paint the engine compartment black, not much for clones or recreation though. Probably badge it as a satellite but GTX looks fine, I would think if it still had its satellite badges you would get people freaking that it has a 440 lol. There was suppose to be some rare hemi satellites out there never seen one……at least 68 to 70 ones. Anyway great car love it.
@carebear2272 thanks man, I guess I hadn't thought about putting the satellite badging on it, it would be cool. I think the hood would throw some people off. Some of these guys freak out if one detal is off. Thanks for the comments much appreciated.
Yes but you can say it’s just a Satellite, it came with the badging when I got it. Most of the time it’s just interesting to find out what it was born with from the factory, and I’m a 68 nut. My brother had a light blue 68 satellite in high school then he went to a 69 Camaro, that’s why I thought the badges put back on your car would look cool because it would remind me of a high school car. I had a 74 duster in high school. I have a 68 charger now in restoration, it’s getting its vinyl top and head liner put on this next week. Knowing what time and money I have into my car, if I had to do it over I would find a car like yours or a plane 68 coronet with at least a 318 and do what you did or if the paint and body not rusted though leave it. My car was real solid except the front and rear window channels, when it rained it came threw under thaw dash on to the flow like a stream, I was surprised I badly had any rust on the floor besides on drain plug had a little
@carebear2272 would love to get my hands on a 68 or 69 charger, but I'm at the point now where I ask myself when is it enough, I have 7 vehicles and still want more haha. There is something about making a car your own fun, if this was a real GTX I would be making it close to factory resto. It's like my buddy's challenger I did, way better off doing an r/t clone and making the car what you want vs chasing every oem part. I guess now a days calling it a "tribute" is better than a "clone". Just kinda funny, if I put rubicon on my jeep I'm a poser if I do it 30 years from now it's a tribute.
I was given a '69 Swinger 340, it's solid. Parked in '82, the car suffered a lot of "Hillbilly engineering" in the late-'70's. '68 RR 383 powertrain, rear end replaced the A-body version (shackles, air shocks, springs tweaked-), T-bird buckets cobbled in...the most expensive thing has been getting the small pieces straightened up & all. The wheels look like Mopar vintage cop wheels- I like the brown color you used on them & the hood call outs. The car is cool
@olikat8 That swinger sounds nice! Thanks for noticing the details. I wanted to paint the rims something besides black, the metallic brownish copper does it for me!
@@danachick6898 have a '76 Valiant V8 sedan. Original owner gave it to me 8 years ago, she bought it around Christmas '76- V8, HD cooling & suspension, low-trim line, but has odd options. It's got a bunch of upgrades, use it for TDS vintage stuff and daily it when I want to. It's fun, reliable and over built- PNW car originally (I brought it to the SE when I moved about 4 years ago).
@olikat8 I'm not a big fan of a 76 but it sounds like a good daily, and who knows with the prices going up on 3rd gen chargers and A bodies I could see that going up in value. Definitely hold on to it.
@@danachick6898 completely understand. I, too, would not pay decent money for a clean malaise sedan. Once I got here to NC, I started working on it as a solid driver & performer. Funny thing? It gets a ton or attention- people want to talk about their experiences with the A-bodies, smiles, thumbs up, & waves; even have been video'd driving it twice on the highway. If you see footage of the 2024 Southern Classic, the beige-ish Valiant? Me.

You bought a bumper for 40 bucks because the seller didn't know what he had, wow what a great guy you are
@tomwaytula90 it's a dented bumper, not a rare antique worth millions. I get what you're saying, but he named his price. I would expect sellers to do their research. I have given parts away worth more. I honestly would have kept the painted bumper but just happened to see this one by luck. Last note I gave the other bumper away for free.

@MrJaime4044 You don't know what gear ratio I'm running in that 9in or tire size in the rear, but I'll ask, do you think 4,000 rpms is too much for a 390 fe? Again I can't control the water pump going out, but I still took responsibility for the motor regardless. Thanks for the comment it does make an interesting discussion.
@@danachick6898 I blew up a water pump on my 68 LTD 390 4V with the gas pedal to the floor and hit near 55 in first gear. yes it would rip
@mikekokomomike thanks man, those FE's were good! Mine has roller rockers and other goodies so I'm definitely going to just find another block and pistons and build with my parts. I will definitely check forms for the best water pump on these.

@@TheFrameoff thank you for letting me know.
You pointed out all the flaws you found on it when you were negotiating with the seller. IT'S A 55 YEAR OLD TRUCK. What did you expect?
@user-vq7bv8kd7o Yes, I completely understand the age of the truck. If it's advertised and priced as better than it displays, you better believe I'm going to point out the obvious. Now, like I said, I was very respectful and willing to walk away as a buyer. Today I'm glad I purchased it as the price on these classic trucks have really gone up in value. So to answer your question I expected it to be what was advertised as. Key word negotiating, I wasn't negotiating I was walking away. I could understand how it could be perceived that I was out looking to lowball the guy, however that wasn't the case. Thanks
The buyer :" I started looking for all things" ( defects ). There are plenty of new trucks at the dealers with no irregularities. You know ! let me know if you want to sell it, as is.
@user-ez7hx4vr7e It is tempting to put a price on it, that concrete was a considerable set back. I just don't know if I'm ready to sell it. I feel like the crazy cat lady with vehicles sometimes. I will eat top roman while I drop 3k in car parts!

Well, I can't control the push rod breaking and destroying a roller rocker things happen. I don't drive my vehicles hard by no means, I've gotten alot of grief in the past how I baby my rigs. The truck just felt good that day I was just stretching her legs to say, the motor was definitely not screaming. The water pump went out and yet I still take responsibility for the motor, all reality, if I wasn't on the interstate, I probably could have stopped in time and again if I was going a tad slower in the slow lane. If anyone has never done anything stupid in the world of automotive by all means through the first stone!
