So I want to add a different opinion then the ones I've seen here. The sound from this is irregular and varied wailst carrying a white noise. The brain can tune this out as its expected. In addition because its irregular, you expect irregular sounds. That: bump in the night, old wood settling and creaking, pitter patter of feet in the hallway, or noisy up-stars neighbor; it gets drowned out by the sounds of whatever you've chosen. in this case distant war. its the same with why u listen to a movie, music, the t.v., or a video when falling asleep. it distracts you from more prescient stresses, like your depression. one like this allows for less talking and musical cues to interfere with sleep, like maybe you jam to Eminem every night and its hard to sleep when your rapping with him, and listening to this lets you just quite down more. maybe you want to listen to the sounds of war when playing 40k table top and 10 hours of war sounds helps immersion.
