    WHAT!! Ta didnt but out rhe 76 truck stops, 76 could keep yp with the change in the trucking industry, and filed for Chapter 11, and closed, and razed all the buildings, you may find one or two around still but that's it. TA in Willcox AZ has a restaurant that serves good food. We as truckers need to SPEAK THE F*** UP. If the bathroom is dirty, quite bitching on someone's channel and ket the front desk know, the person cleaning is trying to keep the trashcan empty out in the parking lot. I cant believe the change in the guys who drive today. If you want to do is bitch about something the truckstop has done or not done, call customer service and I can tell you right now, they will take care of it. Quite being a bunch of pussies and say something. TTT Tucson Arizona, worse truckstop

    Glad to see that you have your hood back on. Hope you don't have another incident for awhile. But, it could always be worse. I made a comment earlier on your first video about this, back in the early 90's i was at the TA in Dexter Mi. and saw a rookie driver backing in next to a brand new Pete 379, the owner was walking back to his truck saw what was happening and started screaming at the driver to stop, well he didn't and took out the entire driver side of the Pete. The owner said that he just put the truck on the road that week, guess It doesn't pay to put a new truck on the road anymore unless it's a day cab and you don't have to park in truck stops.

      It's just one of those weird things that's going to happen. I wish I had gotten the guy that did this but chances are he probably didn't have insurance. I used to stay at Dexter quite a bit when I was running out of Wolverine packing in detroit. I deliver there and then run up to River Rouge and pick up USG and head back to Iowa with it.

      I think it's a lot of these young rookies getting talent and skill mixed up. I also think there's a general attitude problem of people who just don't care anymore. A lot of these guys will screw up and then blame you for being in their way despite the fact you had nothing to do with it. I've dealt with that a couple of times

    Two weeks and I’ll be in orientation. 4 weeks otr with Co trainer. I’ve driven class C for years with P endorsement. The pivot is still very unfamiliar, I’m thinking a pallet Jack would be a good devise to help rookies back up. Just a hint. I like your belief there is no shortage of drivers problem. It’s a retention problem. I believe you are right. Trust can be a problem now. Risking makes them nervous. I think it’s because the younger ones are in a society with no shame, no honor. Or at least these aspects of humanity are minimized instead of emphasized. Why listen to experience, if you don’t trust? Good talk!

    Are those 4 or 5 ft antennas on your truck? Did you have to run ground straps from the antenna mounting plate on the mirror to where the mirror arm bolts to the truck?

    • @truckerdaveandred6731
      @truckerdaveandred6731 11 днів тому

      That's a complete factory setup. It's awful. I usually run a single coax and a 4 foot antenna but the Kenworth makes it very difficult to run anything other than factory. Traditionally on my old trucks that had West Coast mirrors, I would run the antenna how to passenger side and reroute the driver's side antenna to be used as the radio for the AM FM. I had the best luck with 4 foot antennas

    • @Bluedreamflying
      @Bluedreamflying 11 днів тому

      @@truckerdaveandred6731 Thanks for the reply. I’m driving a company truck and I’m debating using the mirror mounts, or using the little bars on the cab above the doors, but I don’t like having the coax getting pinched running out through the door seals. I watched a video that got good results with the factory mirror mounts as long as you add the ground straps.

    • @truckerdaveandred6731
      @truckerdaveandred6731 11 днів тому

      On a company truck, I would do it the least intrusive way possible that way when you can take it out they don't try to get you for damaging things. I don't like running the coax through the door seal either but on a company truck you might not have a choice. If you have to do that, make sure you take it down below the dash and loop it back up that way if water drips in it doesn't go down your dash it follows the loop to the floor. I learned that the hard way @MichaelShipley-u7t

    • @Bluedreamflying
      @Bluedreamflying 10 днів тому

      @@truckerdaveandred6731 I’ve been with the company 20 years, they don’t have a problem with it. No damage anyway, just a little more work to put them on the mirrors. I’m local p&d and having them up high on the sides of the cab is more susceptible to damage from trees. Thanks again for the replies.

      Remove the three screws in the outer cover and lift up the outer door panel.. Remove the plastic sheeting over the hole in the door and disconnect the electrical connector going to the motor. Remove the three screws that hold the motor to the regulator. Assembly with the new motor is opposite of disassembly. That's really quite all there is to it. If you have your replacement motor up ready, it is quite literally an 8 minute job if you take 3 minutes for a cigarette and a Coke

It could be the people that have homes there close to the Petro land got it stopped not wanting all those trucks close to their homes. And you can't blame them for that if it is with all the trashy truckers out there today. Not saying all are but there is a lot of scumbags on the road today. It's a hell of a lot different than when I was on the road for over 50+ years.

    This video shows the importance of trip planning when under the gun. If you started in 2001, you were doing it like I was. Pouring over my laminated carrier's atlas, calculating miles while looking at city grid maps to find my way into the place, writing down the directions and clipping it to my FLD's dash. Under the old rules. With today's technology there is no excuse for poor trip planning. (You mentioned US 36. I used it a LOT and never had a bad trip across it. I actually live just off US 36 in eastern Ohio.)
