I had psychosis twice. After a suicide attempt I was in a coma for 15 days. When I woke up I thought I was in Boots and I was the owner of Boots. It was really awful because I only got insight after my psychosis began to abate. The other time was drug and alcohol induced which caused Delirium Tremens. I was all alone at home, to scared to use a phone or leave my house to get help. I hope I never feel like that again.

While very different in content, your experiences all sounds so, so, so similar to the ones that I’ve had. In hindsight, scariest part of one of mine was that I thought I was stuck in a hallucination and that I had to face my fears in order to wake up. This culminated in me jumping off a 12-15 foot bridge into a shallow creek, then walking towards oncoming traffic on a highway at night, and telling a cop to shoot me. All done completely naked. Wild adventure that was.

Love you accent. I recently went through this with my wife. At 43 years old, she slipped into psychosis. I actually lost her to the state for about 16 hours due to the emergency room staff. Luckily, I was able to talk to the judge residing over her case and was able to get her back. The next month was pure hell for her and a true test for me. Everything you said resembled her broken mind. The false memories, the lack of sleep and the loops she would go into. A simple conversation would last for hours and hours. She never got violent or suicidal, but she believed in so many things that were not true. So, for anyone who has a loved one going through this, remember the following. 1. Time. It will take some time for the brain to heal. 2. Their reality it true to them. Try not to argue. It may not make sense to you, but it is their reality. 3. Sleep. Super important. Try your best to convince your loved one to sleep. 4. Meditation helps tremendously. See a professional as soon as possible to get the right medication. DO NOT TRY TO SELF MEDICATE. 5. They will get better. Do not lose hope. Psychosis is so horrible. She made a full recovery, but it was the hardest struggle I have ever been through. Kudos to you Shan for being open. So many people go through this yet hardly anyone ever talks about it. Psychosis is a medical condition not a mental disorder.
