 Kasing Lung created Labubu as part of his The Monsters series, which features a variety of quirky and imaginative characters. The inspiration for Labubu came from Lung's love for fairy tales, fables, and fantasy worlds.

 They maybe inspired from Norse Mythology but they are not directly connected to the Bible. Although they have similar concepts in some stories, folklores are hard to prove if there’s any truth from it. Norse mythology and Christian beliefs coexisted between the 8th and 12th centuries, Scandinavia underwent a process of Christianization, during which Norse societies were gradually converted to Christianity. The common, pop culture portrayal of Satan as a red, scary-looking, goat-like beast with horns is not found in the Bible. In fact, it might be the opposite according to Apostle Paul, In 2 Corinthians 11:14 Satan deceives people into thinking he is an angel of light. Even for demons, it is described as "unclean spirits" or "evil spirits" (Mark 5:2, Luke 8:29) that possesses causing illness, self destructive behavior, etc. (Mark 5:1-20, Matthew 17:14-18) demons are fallen angels who followed Satan in his rebellion (Revelation 12:7-9) These terms highlight their impure nature rather than a specific physical form.

 So for me, what is the basis of Labubu’s appearance to be a direct depiction of a demon or Satan if it’s not described in the Bible in the first place? 

 Not because they have large eyes, sharp teeth, pointed ears, does it mean they are ‘ugly’, ‘not cute’ or ‘evil.’ It’s still art, nothing more. ‘Not cute’ for you maybe ‘cute’ for others. It’s an Art toy and art can be subjective. 

 If you are not comfortable in buying and owning one, then sell it, don’t buy it.
