Pianist Julia Mortyakova maintains an active international performing career. She has performed in Bulgaria, Canada, Italy, Romania, Russia, Spain, Ukraine, and throughout the US. The 2023 concert season included solo, duo, and concerto soloist performances around the U.S. as well as in Romania and Italy. She is the recipient of the 2023 International Alliance of Women in Music Programming Award, 2023 W Excellence in Creative Activity Award, 2021 Mississippi Arts Commission Performing Arts Fellowship. She is the 2017 MS NMWA Honored Artist and 2023 Steinway Top Piano Teacher.
A laureate of the American Prize for performing Chaminade, she is the winner of the Sigma Alpha Iota Career Performance Grant. The Mortyakova/Bogdan piano duo are Second Prize winners of the Ellis Duo Piano Competition.
Dr. Mortyakova serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of Music at the Mississippi University for Women. She is also the Founder/Artistic Director of the Music by Women Festival.
