    Can you talk a bit about what you do for work? Did you have the jobs you do before you went out there or did you find them while travelling? My wife and I are heading out in Sept for hopefully a year and plan on trying to find some work to keep us going.

    • @HennaJakeTravel
      @HennaJakeTravel 5 місяців тому

      So I (Henna) teach English online and Jake is a Transformation and Behaviour Change Coach. Jake has had his business online for a few years now. I only just started working online last Christmas. It is definitely possible to get jobs out here, but alternatively there are websites such as 'Work Away' and 'Worldpackers' where you can volunteer a few hours of work per day in exchange for free accommodation, food, laundry, activities and alcohol. It depends on the employer to how much they offer you. They take couples too so you and your wife could work at the same place together. We haven't done it ourselves but our friends have and we have only heard good things! To be completely honest with you, balancing work and travel is very hard! It can become stressful very quickly however, working abroad has more perks than downsides. Hope this helps :)

      Hi! Thank you :) Unfortunately not. The three days booked out for diving was a full three days (from 7am-5pm). We did the RAID 20 course so the PADI might be different and you might get more time to explore. But we would recommend to definitely have at least a day or two free so you have time to explore the island 😄

    I need a venue in Thailand that has good dental, not overtly touristy, a place to stay for 2-3 weeks without boredom, water would be nice. Suggestions? I fly into Bangkok in 3 weeks. THanks for a great video!

    • @HennaJakeTravel
      @HennaJakeTravel 6 місяців тому

      We aren't sure about dental as we didn't have anything done there but if there are good dental practices on either Koh Samui, Koh Phangan or Koh Tao then staying around those islands would be great as you would have a lot to do. Book a week in Koh Tao and then decide where to go from there. You could either stay longer or go and visit the other two islands :)

    I wouldn't find Thailand "extremely expensive" by spending £2,000 for 6 weeks. You covered a lot of ground and activities. You both made the right decision to take the SCUBA course in Koh Tao as that is so worth it. The certification is a lot more efficient and much cheaper than a place like Los Angeles where I got mine certified. The process here involved multiple parts; online course, pool training, and open water dives (two separate boat days to Catalina and Anacapa Island). The cost for basic scuba certification in California now is about £580 ($740) vs £260 in Koh Tao. Besides the frigid water around islands off the California coast, I didn't see much under the water but tons of kelps and garibaldi (the Catalina goldfish). So you two did great. Thanks for the beautiful trip videos!

    • @HennaJakeTravel
      @HennaJakeTravel 7 місяців тому

      Wow that is quite expensive for your diving course compared to Koh Tao! It sounds like you still had a great time. Haha yes, £2000 isn't expensive in the grand scheme of things but as we are travelling on a £1000/month budget, it seems very expensive for us, and a lot more expensive than other places we have been to in Asia such as Bali!
