We are excited to offer Omega-3 Index blood tests that are available now in our office! The Omega-3 Index test checks your Omega-3 levels in your blood, as well as trans fats and Omega ratios.
Omega-3 fatty acids are the good fats that benefit your heart/cardiovascular health, brain health and cognitive function, inflammation levels, and more. In multiple worldwide studies, it has shown that levels of Omega-3 are a much better predictor of risk for fatal heart disease than cholesterol levels. Risk for heart disease was 35% lower in people with adequate Omega-3 levels!
Based on research, 9 out of 10 individuals are deficient in Omega-3 and therefore needs to supplement with *quality* fish oils, and not just any over the counter fish oils. We carry a variety of Standard Process fish oils and can recommend which combination of supplements you need based on your Omega-3 Index test results. Once you begin your fish oil supplement regimen, you take another Omega-3 test after 4 months to track progress.
It’s a simple prick blood test that comes in a little kit that then gets mailed to the lab, and results get emailed to us in about 1-2 weeks. If you are a patient, you can purchase the kit and do the test yourself in our office, and we will register your test for you. For chiropractic patients, this is an easy way to incorporate fish oil supplements to help lower pain and inflammation. For nutrition patients, we can work fish oils into your already existing nutrition regimen depending on your results.
