My mom told that when I was little, all I did was scream because I couldn't talk at all until I was 5. They said that I was mentally retarded, that I would NEVER talk, and would end up being institutionalized before I turned 3. I now am an upper advanced level jazz saxophonist, artist who has sold quite a bit of artwork for some good money, attended junior college, have driven a car before, and am currently trying to get out of the house and live on my own.

Damn, I had attachment to objects as a kid, and I still do to this day.

I wish they knew more about autism back when I was growing up. Autism was like a death sentence back in those days. My parents were once told that I was severely retarded, would never be independent, would never talk, and end up institutionalized some day. I now am a professional artist and jazz musician and perform in public outings.

My baby will be 2 in March he was just diagnosed a couple weeks ago. I was so scared & still am!!

Mine only would use nuby bottles AND nuby binkies:( so far not having much of a problem with sippy cups. He however is pivky on toys now and mostly plays with red things. He just now started sleeping with a blabket but its red and hes 2. He hasnt been diagnosed yet but he did get recommended to a developmental pediatrician who he see in may and starts speech therapy in oct.

I wasn't diagnosed til I was fifteen but i was diagnosed with PTSD and DID before that so I can see how my doctor didn't see it.

I was diagnosed at fifteen with ASD and later DID which the therapist said is why it took so long to get a spectrum diagnosis,

i suspected my childhood i might having autism condition according to your signs listed a few matched in my early childhoods. No wonder i having trouble in social connect in school. Couldnt' understand the situation around me at times.

I can't believe people would even think twice about a 2.5 year old in a stroller. Where I live, I see kids as old as 4 in strollers regularly. My daughter is 8 and still uses a stroller for all the reasons you mentioned plus physical limitations. People do make rude comments to us but we are in the process of getting a special needs stroller from insurance so hopefully she'll fit better, be easier to push, and nasty people would shut up. :)

Hey we have been doing the play project it has been amazing. if you r open to it preschool is great too. we also do ocupational therapy and speech.

when my son gets excited he likes to make noises. I have become immune to them. my son seems to to roll with change pretty well. he loves going out but when he hits his limit he is done. we actually stopped naps about 1yr ago so now he goes to bed at 8:30-9 and sleeps like a baby. he has always been an excellent sleeper but when he got naps he would fall asleep for like 2 hrs so it would be 6 by the time he would sleep then he wouldn't go to sleep at night until 12.

Hi I too am a mother of an autistic child. James is 4 he is high functioning on mild side. I can't say enough how much of a blessing ur videos are thankyou. omg I baught my son a hoberman sphere, fidget toys, a Melissa and Doug fine motor skills board, also tunnels and tents are wonderful. my son too def tends to play w parts of a toy, but he is obsessed w tractors and cars.
