Приєднався 11 кві 2021
Welcome to our channel!! You are probably wondering who and what we are?? Well Covert's is a automotive shop in northwest Ohio that specializes in metal fab, paint, body work ,performance and general odd ball projects. To sum all that up we like to fix stuff and make it better. What's the idea behind this channel you may ask? We want to keep you up to date with shop happenings all while entertaining and educating you with a heavy dose of sarcasm thrown in just for fun. So if this something you're into, find a seat, grab a soda and some tatter chips and be prepared to be amazed either in a good way or a horrible way that is up for you to decide. But seriously we hope you enjoy our content.
Thanks Jason

We show you how to replace a 76 Cutlass floor pan the right way!
Those of you that live in the rust belt know how crusty and rusty these old cars and trucks can be after years of winter road salt taking it toll on the underside, fender wells, and pretty much anywhere else salt and road grime get trapped. It can and will destroy everything. Chaz's 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass is no exception. After spending its life in Michigan the floorboards looked more like the night sky than actual solid metal. That was until now. Rather than just repair the bad spot, we have elected to install a complete one piece floor pan and trunk floor. Yes this is more expensive than just patching the existing problems, but when done nobody will be none the wiser that is a replacement pan. So follow along as we take you through the process of removing and installing a complete floor assembly.

2012 Ford Expedition Electric Running Board Replacement
i'm a broken record moaning on every car youtube channel about why nobody in American seems to be able to fit a safety guard to a grinder, no wonder you call them "death wheels" without the guard the wheel can shatter into you face, you hand can slip into the back of the wheel and the sparks flyback in your face. its just crazy! the guards don't even get in the way. You can only cut with the front half of the wheel anyway. I wish every youtube channel in American would stop setting such a terrible safety example. (hopefully reading this will make at least one person safer. )
I feel your concern and I do appreciate it. But the guards are cumbersome.
new stuff will too. might more lickly too
Do I have to reset it before installing the tool?
Yes you do
"Elder Brock"
wow you can actually knock one off in the back seat of that
Haha! Yeah you can get real wild in that one. It’s huge
why do you ruin a good video withg annoying loud music. I have to constantly turn my speakers down between you talking and the music. loud music does not make it better.
That’s a problem we have noticed with UA-cam as well. We also find it annoying.
What are you doing with the bare metal spots after your filler work is done I have the same issue right now before high build. Blend in some epoxy? What are you using for high build VP 2050 or 5300 from TAMCO dtm?
You have a couple of options. You could epoxy the car again. Or if you have a dtm primer that will too. I’ve done both ways successfully. We are currently using Tamco 5310 primer
@CovertsShop I use 5310 as well. Not sure if I should sandwich the epoxy over the existing filler or not or just go right to 5310. I know they just use vp2050 over it all. I guess i will give tamco a shout. Person I feel it's a waste of material to go back to epoxy.maybe just the bare spots let it cure for 2 weeks 150 overall then start 5310.
OMG all that dust getting in and on them other pickups. 😮
Great video. I’m in southern Ohio. Love the truck! I have an 83’ that I’m thinking about back saying the front end also. I heard you have to modify the wiper mounts and use the 73-80 wiper arm assembly. Is that true?
Thank you! Yes the you will need to install 73-80 wiper transmission assembly. The 81-87 assembly hits the hood. That will involve drilling a few holes
I watched the full video. Very interesting…..both the car and the hairstyle at the start of the video 😂😂😂
I was trying to look professional! 😂 Thanks for watching!
By the way, great lighting, great use of the camera and thorough explanations
Thank you!
Ok so another question, I’m having trouble installing my rear swaybar because of the two radius where it turns towards the front of the truck is too narrow to mount it to the axle since the center section is huge
I haven’t ran a rear sway bar yet so I don’t have a good answer for that just yet
I sure hope Santa brings you a brush or comb for Christmas Jason
Hahah! I am too 😂
Can I purchase a custom intake from you that thing is SWEET ! I built a Dart block 572 with a Serpentine belt system so it should be very similar ?
Likewise
I dont think so
Why no heater or am I missin somethin
We ditched the big heater for a small under dash unit.
Bondo can do wonders when it come to makin that CHINA shit fit
Sure can. Grinding, welding,& filler can make anything fit haha!
I think my vacuum gauge is broken, it doesnt wanna turn on or something. I cant get it to start sucking. What am i doing wrong??
Sometimes , a man's gotta do, what a man's gotta do.
Ain’t that the truth
If I was a dick I would say WHY THE HELL ARE YOU FIXING A 76 CUTLASS? But I’m not that guy. Each to there own.
You could try running a tig torch super cold and overlap tacks. It also may not be a weldable grade of aluminum
We tried that and all that it did was pull a ton of junk out of the aluminum and make a huge mess. We are guessing it’s not a weldable grade
There is a product called "alumni-weld" i came across it trying to weld anodized aluminum bulk head fittings to air conditioner lines.. you need a good tourch but its worth the try ... Good luck
Good to know thank you!
Wire feed might work
This is true. We have been kicking around the idea of buying a spool gun.
What grade of aluminum. Some grades aren't weldable
It does not state what grade it is. That should have been are first clue.
Good point . No just old cars any car have lines.
What about the front suspension
We installed that too. It’s in the last half of the video. It works really well.
So, my 65 had truck arm suspension. How much meat ya able to get under YOUR truck?
We run a 10 wide out back and that’s about the limit because of fender well width.
I see, Ohio
Oh maaaan you had a 454 in it???
Sure did. It was a borrowed engine from a buddy.
Where are you at
We are in the Tiffin area
I’m doing a 65 and I’m hoping for awesome steering and performance
Pretty work!!! 👊🤘
Thank you!
Yep....HOW it's DONE, fer REAL!....New subbed....On the road to be a real kewl Mopar! TRI-5 Chevy, Chevelle/El Camino guy here , and yeah! Burnt out ol school body/paint guy, as well..Lol..ROCK the funk ON
Hell yeah dude!
Great video
Thank you!
l use a whole can of aerosol carbuerator cleaner per job to really get my equipt. cleaned up..
l use a half gallon Harbor Freight paint pot for 44 bux!..l use enamel ,not fancy 250 dollar a gallon paint,,,FROM ORSHELNS or any farm store...he uses the same cheap farm paint l use,EXCEPT MINE IS SO THICK IN THE CAN ,MINE WILL GO TWICE AS FAR!...ALKYD is what hes talking about....l wouldnt spend that 200 bux and END UP WITH LESS MATERIAL!...what l use is SO THICK IN THE CAN you can feel how it doesnt hardly move when you shake the can..As for hardener, mine id 16 dollars for half a pint....hardens one gallon....
i hope thats not your ol man on the roof while your dicken around
Haha sure is. Can’t stop the old man. He just keeps on moving
Great video. Question how did you het the kit for a nine inch rear end? TY😊
What kinds of rims are those on your truck? Nice video!
he says in the video
Those tabs fold over the inner door seal lip
So you got your paint line, hardener line and reducer line. What’s the fourth column? I’m not a painter.
Normally not use. But sometimes you may use a fisheye eliminator or a flex additive.
The must be a professional painter with the types of pro tips
Super extra professional pro profession
Wow🎉 u explain this so well I don’t know how anyone else couldn’t figure that out we must all be idiots
You would be surprised
Thank you sir
You’re welcome. I hope it helps
What’s the ratio you mix the sher kem primer? I know you’ve said 33% but could you show us where you take it to on a cup? Thanks
Sure thing tune in tomorrow. I’ll make a video on that
@@CovertsShop thank you sir, really enjoyed the super c videos. Currently taking apart my Farmall 200 going to try that Sher Kem you used
@@Quigley248thank you! I think you’re going to like the Sher-kem
Not all files have a safe Edge it's actually rare to even find one with a safe Edge
It's a no cut side. You are filling incorrectly. You push then lift to push again. Pulling the file back rolls the edge back dulling the cutting side.
Someone on UA-cam tested that and the difference between lifting and not was extremely minimal, are you correct yes, does it matter for most people, no
Thanks dude! 😎
@@andrewlaclair9955 I served a Tool and Die apprenticeship. Working on 200 yr old Nottingham lace looms. As such it was all hand crafted machine parts. You keep your files sharp by chalking before use and never drag them backwards. A good file can last months with carding them.
The old know-it-all
Figured I should tell you that you're wrong just to prove you right
Haha! I appreciate that.
I thought roto-broaches were what cut square and hex holes in steel. Those look like carbide hole saws. You could also also try anular cutters if you have a mill or mag drill.
They might be. I was just reading the label on the box hahaha
When I get files without it, I grind one in there
