My all time favorite musician and my fav song from the newer album. I'm a singer/songwriter in Thailand and get asked occasionally to teach guitar, which I say no because I don't actually know the instrument I play by ear. I had this conversation with one guy after a show and after saying sorry I can't give lessons he said, you remind me of a guy I saw in a hotel in San Francisco, Marty O'Reilly... That was the magic word. I've been teaching him for 3 years now, the only student I ever took on. I got to play one of my songs for Jeffrey Martin once and he compared the sound to him, I've been on cloud 9 since. I've been building this dirty folk sound in my head for decades and when I finally heard Marty I had that moment of oh my god this guy has the same vision and he absolutely fucking crushes it. Felt like a spiritual moment first hearing him. Don't ever stop Marty.

I think all it's going to take is an opening gig for someone like Gregory Alan Isakov or Jason Isbell and Marty's career is going to take off.
