Talgo trainset moves through Madison, Wis.
Переглядів 2,9 тис.12 років тому
Wisconsin & Southern Railroad forwards a Talgo trainset to Prairie du Chien and interchange with the BNSF. Seen here at various locations between Madison and Mazomanie on the Prairie Subdivision. Pardon the crappy camera positioning. My tripod head broke at the last second and I resorted to putting the thing on fence posts, curbs and tree branches. This is the closest high speed rail will proba...

Canadian Pacific #2816 meets Amtrak #7
That's some nice raw footage.
Amtrak number 7 the Empire Builder.
Is that Amtrak train in the video Empire Builder
Pretty sick shots dude!!! The real city of new Orleans.
The last Raider died on April 9 2019. "Retired Lt. Col. Richard “Dick” Cole, the last of the 80 Doolittle Tokyo Raiders who carried out the daring U.S. attack on Japan during World War II, died Tuesday at a military hospital in Texas. He was 103." AP
Thank you for sharing this.
Amazing I was in Afghanistan that year on my second tour doing route clearance. Rest easy raiders you did a amazing job with big shoes to fill. A proud OEF vet
Pretty sick shots dude!!! the REAL City of New Orleans.
The two train sets Wisconsin didn't want would've been perfect for the new Chicago-Rockford-Dubuque service in Illinois. The rail line in and out of Galena is full of twists and turns and these trains would've handled the curvy track the best without having to slow down too much. It would've been nice if Illinois could have gotten their hands on these Talgo sets for the new Black Hawk service.
wttw did a great 1 hr special on Midways History, worth looking for
Very nice!!
Incredible! Seeing such a thing today is a huge treat, and my hat is way, way off to Iowa Pacific and all who have revived the classic IC streamliner. I hope this brave venture pays off well of them. Thanks for sharing these superb scenes!
What a beauty! I was just talking about the streamliner. I've been walking the Interurban Trail lately, right along the railroad tracks. That was the impetus for my conversation and a nostalgic moment. I love the sounds of the trains that run up and down as I walk, especially the air brakes. :-)
Garnis Armbruster You said it, dearie! Maybe we could charter this baby for your ____th birthday coming up.
That would be incredible! Could you just imagine how expensive that would be, Hahaha...
What's the top speed across that line now?
No, Walker campaigned on transferring the money to highway projects. Same amount of money would of been spent - no reduction in the federal deficit. However, the feds told him the money was non-transferrable.
T Thanks for this cool footage, I lived 2 blocks from the airport in 1954
Talgo has sued the state of Wisconsin for breach of contract...and the state has nothing in its case. Talgo has them over a barrel. As for the Amtrak Cascades: those things are pretty swell-looking! Wish we could have something like that in Wisconsin...
Uh-huh. Nope! He only campaigned on the premise that he would refuse in excess of 800 Million Dollars in Federal Funding...
there should be talgo trains through out wisconsin up to Michigan and all across the usa no wonder why the wisconsin govonor killed the hiawatha talgo's the route between Milaukee and Chicago is too short, maybe other reasons
This is one of two Oregon trainsets. The two trainsets for Wisconsin are still up in the air on what will happen. Hoping they will join the Cascades trainsets here!
BudmanPackfan: what Koolaid did you drink? Walker ran on his pledge to turn down the federal money for high speed rail in Wi. After returning it, he found out he wouldn't get this train - he tried to get that part back, but the Feds already gave it to other states
The trainset is painted in the Cascade scheme used in Oregon through Washington state to Vancouver. I believe Oregon bought at least one set.
it is on it's way to Pueblo, CO for testing. this was going to be the highspeed trainset on the Chicago-Milwaukee run, but Talgo was late and over budget so the State of WI cancelled the contract due to failure to meet the performance measures.
What is the exact route for this train? How fast does it move? Is it supposed to be an expansion of public transportation?
Very Interesting, Pat. Keep up the great work!
Nice job on the chase!
Landing at Poplar Grove (2:54) the shimmy damper on the nose wheel goes out.
As a kid ,my brother-in-law would take us to the South-West corner of Midway,1947-49 ? There was a flight school there if I'm not mistaken. We would watch the take-offs from just beyond the fence. You could almost touch the planes as they cleared the fence. We just loved it. My sister Delores was 20 yrs older an my brother-in-law few in B25s during the war, an had 35 missions over Germany.George Kubes passed away last year in Tempie AZ, at age 92.You can see his OBIT,in the Tribune archives.
Wow - in the midst of the jet age...it's nice to get a view of what flying was like back in the day.
nice
Nice runby - someone forgot to order the sunshine.
Excellent footage ! Love watching Lockheed "Constellation" ;)
North Central merged with Hughes Air West and Southern and changed their name to Republic, which was bought by North West Airlines, which was recently bought by Delta airlines.
Neat--Seemed like I saw a "Capitol Airlines" there--I do remember them. I think North Central merged with Ozark Airlines? Of course then there's Braniff. These names were easy to spot at O'Hare, as well, in the 1960s. All gone now since the deregs started in the late 1970s. The three tail planes are "Connies"--one was shown in the Godfather movies. I wonder when they last were used in commercial work.
amtrak 7 is saying hello to CP #2816 lol
INCREDIBLE FOOTAGE! Thanks for posting.
north central DC-3 captain and stewardess are my parents. They are going to be celebrating their 50th anniversary this year.
Simply beautiful, thanks for sharing.
I work as a PSA at midway now, they treat workers like slaves.
Wow! Even the baggage cart driver wore a tie!
Old meets older ;) just kidding
WOW.. beautiful:)
Wonderful. Thank you. I loved the "Connie" of course.
OUTSTANDING!!! :-)
this clips are priceless
There's an American Airlines DC-6B in the film. American is still very much with us.
Did i get that right: 4500mh maintenance per 10k hours of service? And where did the Woodrow Calls and Augustus McCreas all go?
cool. It would be cooler if you dubbed some 50s music or radial sounds, but still, very cool to see those old ramp ops.
I know the Lamantia's.
Great video - I love stuff like this!
I agree with BoxcarFrank, Canadian Pacfic 2816 met its future counterpart!
