It sounds like you have a version of the smaller die chip on the top of George Washington’s hat. Known as a tricon. There are many small die chips around the tricon but the largest chip measuring over 4 x 2 mm is the holy grail. The ones I have found here in Michigan also have a smaller die chip in the gap between cracks and the ice flow of the design just above the letter T in the word quarter. If I could ask, what country are you from?

So far, As much as I Coin Roll Hunt Quarters. I have only found one of these quarters in the wild. It would be ironic if the only one i have found so far has a die chip on the lip. I have heard that there has been die chips or cracks on some of the text in her coat.

Yes Alabama had a pretty big die chip on the WCTD coming out of the Atlanta shipment .

Yes the dies were breakin and cracking around George’s Tricon (hat) so the different sizes can be early to late stages of the progression of the die chipping up and crumbling. Also the mint has several machines churning out coins, so the different chips could also be from completely different sets of dies. Thanks for commenting and sharing and contributing your finds.

The reject tray on a Coin star is right in front of the machine. It’s a Coin return just like a vending machine.

I weighed them to see if they were heavy. I wrote the numbers. The one with the silver weighed 227.39 Grams. it ended up having (1) 90% silver and (2) 40% silver coins in it. it's kind of like shaking your Christmas gift before you open it. a regular roll with no silver in it should Weigh between 225 - 226.0 Grams. 90% halves weigh 12.5 g 40% halves weigh 11.5 g 1971 - to today weigh 11.3 g a current roll of 20 half dollars should weigh 226.0 g

I got a digital coin microscope and been searching pocket change for errors, keys and silver but I don't have a bank account I can get boxes from, but a friend in the numismatic community sent me an unsearched roll with the weight written on it. Didn't know what the number on it meant. Appreciate your help.

For the record, I’ve been coin roll hunting for over 20 years. I use the scale to weigh each of the roles before I open them. So when I find a roll that weighs over 226. I’m pretty sure there’s silver in that roll or I might’ve got an extra half dollar and that can happen. Usually I’m shorted a half. I have no reason to fake it in the posted to you.
