Hi. That strange low beating noise you’ve been hearing is a ruffed grouse or spruce grouse. The behaviour is called “drumming” and I believe it’s related to mating.

Amazing documentary - just AMAZING! Especially loved watching the VA section - I hiked from Damascus to HF in ‘22 - it was fun to revisit through someone else’s eyes. I am also a “senior” hiker! my fiance and her family have been going almost 40 years her first wheaty was in like 1985 and last year for the anny was my first. as a metal head hard rock and 80s fan..... this fest was shocking in alll the right ways <3 happy wheatland 2024

Im thinking the sound you were hearing was a partidge (ruffed grouse). They beat their wings and it sounds like a tractor starting very slowly and ends with a fast drumming.

Hey Larry! We spoke a little yesterday at the South Haven lighthouse. Cool time lapse! It’s crazy seeing the layers of clouds moving different directions. I need to give time lapse a try soon.

The clouds made it interesting - almost too many. It was like a cliff hanger - would the clouds clear enough to see the sunset?

Well done, Larry. Looks like '69 was a real Cinderella year for that city up north! There were a lotta goodies in the video, not the least being the breathtaking recreation of the baton hand off. I laughed out loud when I saw the school colors were purple and white because those are my high school colors as well. Congrats and attaboys to all involved in the making of those records as well as those involved in the creation of this video.
