I am in the beginning stages of converting my 2016 Ford Transit passenger van into a campervan.
Where did you buy them?
Can we get an umm counter lol
Also, do you have a FB page where I can IM you?
Hey man! Video on taking it off??
Where you at bro?
Collision sensors should be bolted . I made that mistake and front seat bag went off over bad pot hole.
That must have been a freighting experience. For others reading this, Paul is correct. These sensors must not be left dangling or loose somewhere.
hey bro where did you get the two seater crew seat?
Here’s a video of how I did it; but don’t do it how I did it 😂
Buen vídeo, enhorabuena gracias.
Could you please describe What is the screw like at 3:58, it is missing in my van
Thank you for posting this video. It was wondering how to remove the headliner. How did you insulate the headliner? Is there enough space for 1" insulation?
could you share where you got them from and what they are called with a part no ?
Where's the update bro? :(
Hey man thanks for the vids. Any updates? considering this build would like to see the finished van
I have the same van. Is the passenger also not insulated like the cargo? I was hoping buying the passenger that Ford has already stuffed the walls and has the floor pretty flat and insulated. No?
Looks great, man... nicely done!
I like the aluminum cut out section, that is a pretty good idea. How thick is the vinyl floor, or to avoid shaving down the trims how thick of the vinyl should one get?
Dude what happen are you alive...?
Sorry! I literally lost my password and hadn't thought about it until a few weeks ago then saw all the questions...will be posting a new video soon!

thank you for the info on the simulators. The other sensors you are talking about are the collision sensors.
did you die??

Those sensor on the side walls are the collision impact sensors.
looks like you took out the curtain air bags? What was that like?
Also please tell me what you did with the rear heat/ac and the speakers! Did you leave them in or take out?
What did you do with the air bags in the rear?
great video! On that step did you just pull it up/off or did you have to remove/loosen any factory plastic caps/tops for bolts. Thank you in advance!
Hi I was wondering if you had to disconnect the battery before you disconnected the airbags so that the airbags wouldn’t deploy ? I haven’t found any answers if they will deploy when doing this thanks!
I disconnected mine and had no problems.
@@meandzogo How many sensors did you need? Did you do just the top ones or the collision ones below too? Do you have a link to the sensors you bought?
Is it harder because of the windows?
Curious about the legalities of airbag removal. Did you research that? I’m having difficulty finding solid info. But my insurance says if it’s illegal that there’s risk of low payout if it’s in an accident and also major liabilities if a passenger is hurt in a vehicle that has had the airbags removed. I’m converting a transit connect passenger and this has been a major roadblock. Any legal info you’ve found would be appreciated! Thanks so much.
Hi Kristy. A little late to your post here but if you own your van, and you're removing your rear seats and building out cabinets or anything near where your side curtain or side impact airbags are located, you'll want to remove them. There's no legality involved because there won't be passengers sitting back there. I removed my rear side curtain air bags. I still have my front driver and passenger airbags as well as the side airbags which are actually located in the driver and front passenger seats. Yes, you do get a discount on your insurance premium if you have a passenger van with side curtain airbags. Those airbags typically protect the occupants from the flying glass of the windows breaking. But if you're covering the windows or building cabinets over them, there will be something there to protect you from the flying glass too. You're not going to go to jail for removing your airbags on a car you own if you no longer need them.
@@dano7369 how did you leave the front cabin ones and remove the cargo ones? I'd like to keep the cabin ones too. Since they're a loop, I'm not sure where to cut the loop.
@@meandzogo They're not on a loop as in one won't work without the other. Your airbag light will be on after you remove the cargo ones but the others will still deploy when needed so far as I've read and heard from others. You can get an 'Airbag disconnector kit' from a company called Airbag Systems in Allen, Texas that will simulate the airbag being attached and will negate the dash light... it costs $130/each. For that I can live with the light. You literally just disconnect the wire from the pyro and remove the bolts holding it in place. Obviously you need to remove the headliner and also be sure to detach the negative lead on your starter battery before attempting to disconnect the pyro device so it doesn't accidently discharge! It's easier than it sounds. The hardest part was using the flathead screw driver to disconnect the harness from the pyro device (awkward angle). Hope that helps!
@@dano7369 I have removed mine and my airbags are a loop. In order to leave the airbags in the cabin, I have to cut the bag material at some point. I need to know where to cut it so that the cabin ones still work but are no.lonhef attached to the cargo ones so I can remove those because right now they're in a still connected pile on each side of my van.
@@meandzogo You don't have to cut the bag material. The side curtain airbags run from the back window up to the front pillar opposite the front door. There is one air bag on each side. If you're cutting it, you're doing something wrong. If you cut it, you also ruin it. Which is a $500/per airbag mistake. (the going price for a pre-owned side curtain airbag on eBay).
Thinking of getting this exact van for a conversion - would be great to see an update!
How many airbag simulators did you buy?
How is it going?
Anymore updates on the van?

Could you sale me your air bags?
if you haven't found any I have some for sale
Hi there! I hope you are doing well. Would really love to know how your conversion turned out. I am considering getting a 15 passenger van similar to yours and would like to know if you are pleased with yours. Thanks

@@fordtransit6428 soon pleeeeeease!
Is that foam board going to provide enough insulation? How about using wool insulation?
I was kinda hoping to see you removed the soft panels. Can the panel above behind front seats be taking out without removing the backs panels first?
Hey, Great video! Thanks! I used your video a few months ago to remove the headliner to hammer out a ding. I put everything back but I must have done something wrong cause the key less entry or key FOB isn't working. (Note: I did plug that recepticle that is connected to the fabric headliner see 6:30 but it still didn't work) My question is, when you put it all back together, were there any wires or multi wire receptacle plugs that stayed loose (not connected to anything) or did everything have a plug? One more thing, the wires that were connected to the plastic shelf (see 4:50), what were those and were they connected to anything? Anything helps. Thanks!
Awesome videos! I’m doing the same build now, so this is very helpful!
have you completed this yet?.. if so please share the video (s)
Two things will make it 1,000 times easier. 1. Remove the Lucky Charms box first. That's the box which contains the dome light and climate controls (if you have that option). Access it's barbs by removing the two pockets above it. The pockets are held in by barbs immediately behind the outer lip on the pockets. Use plastic pry tools to gently work around the perimeter of the pockets until all barbs release. The pocket will pop loose when they do. With the pockets removed you can see the two barbs holding the Lucky Charms box in. Use a shorty flat blade screwdriver to fold the barb hook in so it can pass through the hole. The box will rotate down on two pivots in the rear, but don't take it off. All the access you need to wires and the hidden screw is right there. 2. Remove the 4 plastic covers from the outside with an awl not from the inside with a screwdriver. Just push the awl in between the plastic cover and the shelf it is recessed in. This will press in one of the barbed legs and pop it out. If it doesn't come loose on the first poke you did not enter where there is a barb. Simply move the awl over a bit and poke again. There are 3 or 4 wide barbs. They are easy to hit within two or three pokes. An awl is pointy enough to get between the cover and shelf without leaving marks. The covers are not all the same so number them with masking tape. Great video. Thanks!
How long is the headliner space without the headliner
I’m working on my passenger transit and was wondering what it was gonna be like pulling all the interior, not many people showing this on UA-cam. Thanks for sharing, this was just what I needed to know.. new sub by the way 👍🏻🚐
hi. great video. im trying to remove the cover for the light to replace the bulbs. how do you get the plastic cover off or pop the light unit out of the headliner? i dont want to damage it. thanks
aluminum rails are a great idea
Thank you...Can you share the link where did you buy them from.
Ford Tranit I live in Massachusetts too May I ask how much you were able to get your Ford Transit for? That's the same van I want Does the insulation do well as far as vaper/moisture barrier? I'm currently doing research for my own camper van
I have subscribed to you because I wanted to do the same thing. I am in the process of looking for a 15 passenger van because we have six children and I wanted a class B that had safe seats. How were you able to take out the walls and do insulation without damaging the curtain airbags? Wow! I don't ever plan on doing any cold weather camping, do you think insulation is necessary? I know it would help also with air conditioning. Did you buy the van new or used? I am so excited to see how this turns out! Enjoy your journey!
Hello!!! I completely removed the side curtains airbags...they may be a nice safety feature but are not required. I brought mine slightly used, it had about 22,000 miles on it. In terms of the insulation i have seen different opinions online when it comes to the passanger van since it has so many windows...i think the most important is the ceiling but i do plan on making insulated curtains so not sure how much insulating the walls will help but i figure it cant hurt!!
Subbed and looking forward to seeing the progress, we are also doing the same and are half way through now :-) Atb, Jay & Laura
I am eager to see how this will turn out. I have 6 children and we want an RV but a lot of them are not safe. I wanted to use a passenger van for the seats and seatbelts. What is the length of this van bumper to bumper and the height? You are doing great so far! Enjoy your journey!
