What an incredible career in music. So nice to have this interview as a coda . "Don't Hold Your Beath". Gary's solo album. Some very nice music on it.
"I never made money on records." Nuff' said. Go learn how to scam with cryptos. Playing the trumpet is for fools these days.
There are also trumpeters who can hit high notes but don't. Bobby Hackett was one of them.
There are people who can't really play but can high notes. I was one of those people. 😊
Really enjoyed the interview! Such a great player and guy.. my uncle was a studio player and knew Gary back in the day! Thanks for sharing this interview….. Joe Triscari
GARY WAS MY #1 BUDDY.....WE MADE MANY RECORDINGS TOGETHER!
Trent’s funny. He offered me $500 for a conn constellation in really good shape about five years ago.😂😂
Tine and her marvelous talent have stole my heart. I simply can't hear enough of her wonderful music.
Great Interview! I did meet Mr. Baptist a few times at Cambrass Corp. in Valencia, CA, several years ago. A fine player and a fine gentleman as well.
Bruce is a powerhouse of brilliance. Wonderful interview!❤
Maestro…! It’s Rolf when he’s alone, Rolfs when he’s with family.😊 (We met at Vince’s service)
Just wanted to let Jeff Curnow know that Rolf and I went through school together - he was one year behing me, and his Dad was our JH band director. When I was in 7th grade, Rolf would come over after school once a week and we started a brass quartet that stayed together through high school. Rolf and I also played the Vivaldi with the Seattle Youth Symphony. I played co- or principal trumpet in the SYS for 6 years. When Rold got in, he graciously split the book with me, although we both knew he was the better player. However, I felt maybe I had something to bring to it as on orchestral player which he didn't. I've heard most of the greats, including 4 summers in Chicago studying and listening at Ravinia. I don't think I'm overstating it to say he is one of the greatest trumpet players the world has ever seen. I went on to play 2nd trumpet with the Seattle Symphony. And, listening to Gilbert Johnson was one of the primary things that made me want to pursue an orchestral career. I wish the sound of this video could be cleaned up - I can't hear most of what you are saying. Congratulations on such a stellar career! Jeff Cole
Keep at it my man. Fine work!
Awesome video!

Great interview 👍
Great trumpet player, too bad she's a flaming leftist.
Assisto quase todos os solos de trompete com a Tine, muito bom !!!! ♥️
Sou fã da thyne , se eu tivesse condições, gostaria de assistir um show dela pessoalmente!!!! 🙏🙏
Great lesson. Your patience and guidance is amazing.
Nice conversation.... hello from Perú....and welcome some day Tini....I love your music.....
Thanks so much for posting these! I particularly enjoyed his notes on efficiency and embouchure at the end. There aren't many interviews with Mr. Höfs in English online so this is much appreciated. 👍🎺😃
Where can I get the Marietta Lied sheet music?
I love listening to you playing the Hummel and Hayden concertos.
Tine is a fine trumpeter and a wonderful human being. I wish more musicians were like that.
It just ended. Why? It wasn't over!
Scott Hartman is a FIRST CLASS Act. I've learned so much from him just from listening as well as my time around him at Tanglewood.
I really like her presentation last march 2013 Libertango. Im from Tagum, Davao Philippines.
Fantastic interview!! Thank you so much for all of your interviews!
Cool interview!!
You are correct, Liesl. The shame of it is, that there are a lot of great trumpet players who don't have high chops and if they did, they would do a great job of playing lead, they've got a great feel for lead tpt playing, they know how to swing and be the voice of the band, but they just don't have the chops to do it. And then on the other hand, there are too many people who have the high chops, but they just don't have the sense of phrasing, can't swing, and don't know how to drive the band with it. They play like robots. Some have the musical talent, but not the physical talent, others have the physical talent, but not the musical talent.
I have become such a fan. Just wonderful. My favorite is Libertango at Kilden Theatre and Concert Hall in Kristiansand on March 8, 2013. Magnificent.
This is really Great!!!!!! I just saw Gabriel play last week with the Greenville Choral Society!!!!!
Suggestion: Stop cutting to the interviewer so damn much. I'm not here to see him, and it's extremely distracting. Let us see the subject for more than a nanosecond at a time. I don't care about the interviewer. Thank you.
Randy, I appreciate that you visited my channel for Jeff’s interview. I didn’t expect that this format would incite such anger. Zoom is quirky about who it highlights, so I had no real control over this. You are always welcome to listen to the audio only podcast versions of these interview. Thank you for checking out studioHFL.
Gene is such a generous and amazing person. Thanks for all you do, Gene!
Yay David & Erika! Beautiful work!!
I watched this in full during the live broadcast. Bravo to the Romm Family for their dedication, honesty, great stories, and discussions of teaching, performing, artistry, beauty and the joy of music. Thanks to Larry and to ChopSaver for making this possible!
What a great interview! Proud to be part of it!
wow, what a sweetheart!! oh and smart. I'm in love!!
I remember Bria at the ITG Conference at Hershey. Both her concert and master class (we were there together) were awesome! Great presenter and very informative.
Love her latest recording! Such a beautiful piccolo trumpet sound!!
Tine, I have watched so many of your videos. You and Maurice Andre are my favorite trumpet players. I have really excelled at piccolo, and have learned so much from you. I am a direct relative of Johann Sebastian Bach. I love your pic playing. I began playing at 1st grade trumpet, then 3 Rose Parades in Pasadena.. now working for an airline and only on Instagram. Anyway, all the best. Dave
One of the great mouthpiece makers of all time.
