    Great recipe! Easy workable dough! Appreciated the layout of the measurements upfront! Resulted in nice airy puffy bubbles. Yielded a good 14-15. First one came out too oily, the thermometer is essential to get the oil temp right! If you don’t have an electric deep fryer. But you get the hang of it after the first couple ons. Happy Canada long Weekend!

    Thanks for sharing the video of your own cooking. How do you make the plastic mold stand up since there is nothing support on any side of the mold?

    • @yokeinnchan8401
      @yokeinnchan8401 Рік тому

      You might try balancing the mold in a loaf tin such that the fish part sits in the loaf tin and the edges of the tin holds the fish up by its fins and tail. However, I believe that most plastic molds (at least the one I have) are for setting agar agar or jellies (i.e cold desserts) and not for steaming nian gaos, as the heat might affect the plastic.

    Those look perfect, reminds me of my childhood! Do you need a deep fryer or can I just cook them in a pot with oil? Also which oil do I use to cook them in?

    • @MagicianInTheKitchen
      @MagicianInTheKitchen 2 роки тому

      You can use a regular pot with vegetable oil, peanut oil is a bit more expensive but gives it a crispier taste. I use both of these oils for my deep frying.
