Hiya, great vid, am trying to help a friend fix this on his but wanted to know, can this fuel line be disconnected with fuel in the tank or will it shoot out everywhere? Do I need to drain the tank first? Thanks!
Line is a quick disconnect so it should not spray out and you do not need to drain tank.
I have watched your video multiple times to check what made yours work and mine have a backlit black screen and uncontrollable HVAC controls. Still cant get mine to work unfortunately.
Man, it has been a while. I know with the metra install kit i did have to install an update to the little black box. I believe i either emailed or called support and they were able to guide me through. It may even mention that on the instructions? Also, I did go back and see I did. Pt 1 video as well that goes mentions the update needed. -after you have power to the little black box, there is an update required.
Which o ring do you think was causing the issue?
The quick connect is $70
how's it sound????
It sounded better than stock. But i did not replace any speakers so improvement was limited in that area.
High five, looks like some others have used the drain plug rings with success, saves me any further delay since i have a sack lmao. Great info, thx
Oil plug oring didn't work, it's a bit too big in diameter, had to get the corrects oring and it worked
The Harley Davidson store sold me both hoses for $400 Dollars .😢
Saved me a hell of a lot of time. I'm ordering as I comment. Thank you for your help👍🏻
I have a 2005 Road King and I have researched this leaky check valve problem quite extensively, as it happened to me a couple years ago. Back then I too was appalled at the prices so sought out a more reasonable solution. I ended up doing the same thing, and bought those same Fuel tool o rings to very carefully replace the lower o ring (there is an upper one in there, too). Good luck trying to rebuild the whole thing without the Fuel Tool tool, which costs $100! Anyway, here I am 2 years on and it is leaking again. Not regularly, and not much. It is very slight. But it is leaking and it will no doubt just get worse with time. I have a big trip coming up so I am fixing this once and for all. Turns out you can replace the whole check valve AND the inside the tank pex fuel hose connected to it for only about $30, including shipping. Its a Drag specialties part on Revzilla. In my research I have learned that the 2 pex lines inside the tank, as well as the Fuel pressure regulator housing, can get brittle (ethanol fuel effects on plastics and rubber) and fail and cause lots of problems and even leave you hopelessly stranded. So that's it. Im taking the whole unit out and I am replacing everything inside the tank (except the fuel pump) up to and including the leaky check valve. SO, two hoses, the regulator, housing, check valve and fuel filter. Also replacing the gasket and special screws that seal and hold the top plate down. I Already bought the parts. If you have an older fuel injected Harley and havent thought about whats inside that tank you may wanna get in there and replace that stuff as preventative maintenance.
So the answer is to empty the tank?
Nice video exactly what I needed to know. Mine just started leaking yesterday. Thank you very much.
Glad it helped.
Hey brother, thanks for the part numbers. This seems to be a common problem and you saved me the leg work of looking everything up. Ordering everything as we speak. Again bro, I appreciate the vid.
Ride safe.
You did not show how to change out the O rings. All you did is talk about the kits
Ciao volevo chiederti se devo svuotare il serbatoio per sostituire le oring? Grazie mille Fulvio
Yes
Upper oring: 8mm ID, 13mm OD, 2.5mm W lower oring: 10mm ID, 14mm OD, 2mm W
Hey late reply, will this fit a Rocker c. Mines just starting to leak fuel
WHAT WIRES HAD TO PLUG IN TO THE TOP SCREEN??????
Can you send me pictures on how you plugged in all the harness
Hi Great video and description and I have the same problem with my Harley,,,,how does you get the O ring out of the quick release unit on the tank,,,,I have changed the small O ring on the fuel line but still it’s leaking
I used an o-ring tool, or pic and a mirror to see up into the fitting. It takes a little patience for sure
I know this is old but what wires did you connect to the old screen to get it to come on
have you considered becoming a preacher?
Why do you say that?
Thanks for the tips...
I went to my dealer and they gave me a o-ring
Hello, how are you? I have a 2010 pathfinder and I want to change the radio, could you give me the modules of the things you used to buy them, thank you and your pathinder looks very good
Super late response. Everything was purchased on amazon. If you still would like links let me know and i will provide.
This vid show's nothing....FFS
Did you have to drain the fuel out of tank to take that hose off??
no
I want to see you replacing the O ring in the check valve without the tool
got it in there with a screw driver and used a socket to push it up.. once it was in the recess groove.. I used a smaller socket that fit inside oring to seat it in the groove nice and tight.. the hardest part was getting all the old oring out.. whole job took 5 minutes
Just found this, and that looks SO much better than other installs I've seen! Questions... did you ever get the passenger side temp to work, and can you hook your backup camera to the new deck?
I got my gas to stop leaking with a new o ring i can heat my fuel pump when my harley is on, like the same sound as when the pump primes before turning it on. Is that normal? The motor and bike sound fine, no sputtering or anything like that.
I jumped the gun and ripped out the small o ring from the fuel line attachment first. When I noticed the leak, I popped the fitting off, it was in bad shape. I replaced it, thought I was good to go and still have a leak. Now I need to deal with quick connect o ring.
I wonder if you could install one of those big screen Android radios with this
Can you put the image you want as the wallpaper?
Is there anyway to upgrade a 2010 nissan armada titanium with no navigation to have navigation
Did you drain gas??
No I did not. It is a quick connect fitting so very little has should come out. You will get a little bit when connecting/disconnecting.
Why has the price gone up on these? Supposedly they were $200-$300 but now all I can find is $400-$500 for them
No idea. I just checked and I paid under 300. I would say for 4-500 bucks there is probably better on the market. I would not have paid that much for this unit.
Would have been nicer if you had shown how to do it man haha 😅
It was meant more to explain that there are o rings out there that work and you don’t have to buy the entire part from Harley.
So the instructions for the Maestro RR don't work with this Metra Kit. IAny help is appreciated, thanks!!
You didn't show how to do it!??
Any problem with factory screen not working with this kit? My radio is fine but screen doesn’t turn on unless plugged to factory
There isnt any tutorial step by step u should make one
Does this have backup camera??
Yes, you can add a back up camera to the stereo. If you are installing in the pathfinder you can keep the factory back up camera in use and add one to the stereo if you would like.
Which factory connectors on the vehicle side were not used in the installation? Just spent 6 hours trying to install this in my buddy's 2011 Nissan Pathfinder with factory navigation and the Bose system. We were able to get the aftermarket double din radio to work, but not the factory screen and we tried both harnesses included with the kit and everything. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
I just finished installing in my 2012 pathfinder with bose and navi. Its 3 connectors from the factory plugs that plug into the axxess box. Did you make sure the ring terminal is grounded properly? All the connections to the back of the oem screen is plugged?
My screen+control panel won't work. There are 2-16 pin harnesses in the vehicle.Could this be a problem?
@@pmad56 good morning I know it's been a while I also have a 2012 Nissan Pathfinder with navigation I'm trying to figure this out, it's very confusing with the wire connections. Can you help me with it?
More Harley junk ! If Harley can't provide a better system , just give me a hose and clamp , like the old days. I'll try the small o-ring first but I removed the check valve from the tank but it looks good . Blew in the check valve hose and it holds air then I pushed in on the valve and air escaped so it seems good . My Road King has two check valves at the bottom of the tank . One is high pressure ( check valve near outside of tank ) and one a return. The return hose is smaller than the pressure hose. If you buy the short hose it won't work for the pressure ( to short) so knowing that will save you money. The pressure hose with check valve is 22" long, return is shorter.
I totally agree a hose and a clamp never failed me yet!!!
Did you notice losing any other factory settings on the factory screen?
Thanks for the video! The drain plug o ring fit and fixed the issue. Not surprised Harley won't tell you this or sell the o ring to fix the problem.
It is insane that something this simple is a mystery to them. They probably would not make a big enough profit from just an o ring. Haha
Thanks for your video, I believe its just what I needed to see. I knew it was risky buying a 10 year old bike with 474 miles (2010 Street Bob), one owner and as soon as I touched the fuel check valve, it started leaking. I can see clearly the one on the fuel line is dry rotted, I'll start there. If I have to replace the check valve, lower, I know what to buy for that too now! Thanks for the video and ALL the time you saved me finding the right part! Sincerely!
The interface is so laggy... Too laggy for a Pioneer car stereo.
Is That Rain☔⛈️ Or Fuel Taps Leaking!!!!
Ive had a Springer for 30years..NO O Rings Problems There.. What the F is Up with this System!!!? 2015 Harley.. ⛽Leaks fuel on Hot Cylinders 🔥🔥🔥WTF!
I hope this is not a dumb question just learning as I go but do you have to empty the gas on the gas tank to do this?
No you do not.
Robert Mccully thanks man I appreciate it.
@@martinnajera417 lol i was looking through the comments just for this question, i was just about to ask the same thing bout to do mine.
I tried. This today but my factory screen won’t come on did I miss a step ?
U ever figure it out?
Thank you for the tip on using an oil/transmission/primary drain plug o-ring on the fuel quick disconnect. It worked great.
