I am starting as a withdrawal management counsellor and was thinking of mixing this approach with the stages of change model for motivational interviewing. Any thoughts on the limitation due to first days of detoxing and maybe a low amount of information that can be taken in during the first couple of days?
excuse the grammar lol
Thank you to all therapists out there.
Cool video! Yet, if i may add, there are SIX nescessary and sufficient conditions, not just three....

Why don't you do videos....please make videos...your explanation is easy to understand. I watched this video once the content never goes away from my memory. Thank you for that but I really want your videos 🥺
very informative, thanks a lot.
this was an awesome video great job
Can I suggest a rethink of your presentation of Rogers' overlapping circles (Client-Centered Therapy pages 526-527)? I'm fine with the circle names being changed from his original but the shaded area that you term 'incongruence' at 1:09 is, and remains, congruence. The non-overlapping areas of the circles might be labelled incongruence I guess, although he termed the non overlapping part of your 'Ideal Self' circle (a circle he labelled 'Experience') as experience denied to awareness. Changing this would also mean that the overlapping area doesn't suddenly have to switch from incongruence to congruence (1:54). I hope that makes sense. One other, less important point is that the person centred therapist will, amongst other things, 'ask lots of questions' (5:20). This, I think, is a standard misconception. Many helpful theraputic relationships and certainly many of Rogers' own filmed encounters have very few questions with most being for clarification, to check the therapists understanding of the client. I hope you find this helpful.
Such an awesome video. I'm taking an undergrad course on counseling, and this is a concise, clear video perfect for helping me study.
This video makes the theory so much more easy to understand. Thankyou!!
I don't know how to change my life around... I watch this video and what arises in me is overwhelm and stress. my dream life feels 999-trillion universes away from my reality: - I have minimal work (I live in poverty) - the place I rent is old-old and teeny-teeny tiny-tiny - I have passions and talents that could make me rich, but... - I'm single, have been my whole life, I die for true love - fat and diabetic - old now, no longer attractive - no friends - always a million-trillion stressful things to do...

Not a fan of the 'ideal self' being the same girl but thinner. The message that sends to me is that you can never be an ideal self unless you present a certain way. I know it was just a visualization example, but weight stigma has serious consequences and weight is not an indicator of health (not that someone else's health is something that you would be more aware of than them anyways)
if everyone followed their "authentic" needs... we wouldn't have anyone to do waste management, difficult labor jobs, etc ... work is work, everyone can't do what only pleases them or communal society falls apart. We need each other.
Loved graphics and explanation
Amazing work
Thank you for a clear explanation :)
I am a person-centered therapist, and I think this is awesome. it is extremely informative. I especially like, the example she gave of James.
My lecturer told us to watch this video as our class activity before a discussion with her. Bruh, this video makes me understand about this
could you give subtitled access to your video? Video is extremely useful)

The USA was and remains a major childbeating nation. Why is it that Rodgers never mentions this pathological behaviour of caning, whipping, strapping and paddling children? Why does he remain Silent on the issue? I know the answer to this question, but does anyone else?
