Sorry for the false start and deck change! Also, I totally missed Famine's trigger first turn, I noticed it a bit later. Missed the boost-minion's attack, when I was down at 3 HP...so, Winter Soldier wasn't able to be played then, which would've been a pretty big shift. I forgot I drew the double off of Maria Hill, so it couldn't have paid for her! I would have missed using Jubilee then, and ended up winning in the following villain phase instead. Magik vs Four Horsemen is my favorite matchup from the box! The double Defensive Energy play at 35:30 was killer!
Thanks! That thought came from all the conversations around your protection deck, letting me feel confident about the timings.
👍
Little disrespectful to my boys Hawkeye and war machine but you get the thumbs up for Rogue, she’s become a top 3 for me in both power and fun
For Ms Marvel, with Honed Technique, some multi thwart cards and multi attack cards, and how fast she can set up sometimes, I say she is better than Ironman. She is upper mid tier for me at least.
I am very curious how you build Cyclops. Even if you limit to 6 allies you can take any X-Men ally you want so just take the 6 best with staying power(Wolverine, Psylocke, Iceman, etc.) and then profit from his highly efficient multitasking capabilities.
My point was that I don't take advantage of his ability to include "better" X-Men allies in any meaningful way, not *just* because of the 6 ally limit, although that plays a role I'm sure. It's more the same mindset that pushed me to a 6 ally limit has pushed me away from any kind of optimization on this metric of ally inclusion. So, I don't take the 6 "best" allies...because it's just not how I approach the question of which allies to include in a deck. I think the power level of my Cyclops decks are effectively equivalent to if he did not have the ability at all, and just had the normal aspect limitation on allies. I think he's a good hero apart from his ally inclusion ability, that based on discussions gets to be crazy OP when you lean into the ally stuff. My experience is that without any ally focus, he's good, but not crazy...admittedly, it's not like I've played him a ton. He's fun, but pretty middle-of-the-pack for me...being fairly new and in the 20's in terms of preference and not being chosen for a campaign run-through at any point, I think I've probably played like 5-6 games with him at most.
little oopsie: bomb counter would not have done anything because boom boom was not in play
Boom Boom's ability sets up a delayed effect which will deal the damage regardless of whether boom boom is in play or not.
Great playthrough, keep on going 😊
Hawkeyes arrows are more efficient than most other hero/aspect cards imo. 1 cost event for 3 damage AoE is well above the curve as long as 1 minion is in play. 2 for 6 and piercing is slightly above the curve because of piercing. The status effect ones are always efficient as long as the villain isn’t steady/stalwart. Not as efficient as miles or strange or spider women, but more efficient than the heroes in the tier above her
That's fair. What I was trying to communicate was that his events are not on a level where they are worth exhausting the unique bow resource, IMO. It feels to me like if that were not required Hawkeye would be a decently strong hero on his event-value, but still only matching the upper tier heroes, not exceeding them.
@@Theorel_CardText I agree, the bow could do something else entirely and he would be stronger, and this would probably be a better design choice (although less thematic). However, personally I think that he is still not as low as you rank him, as he normally has frequent access to either stun or confuse which helps his low survivability, and he has a low cost curve especially if you get resource generators out.
The High Evolutionary is pictured on the nemesis side scheme of Scarlet Witch
Ohhh, of course! I knew that!
I could watch X-23 gameplay all day! Love her so much. Hall of Nastrond should deal an encounter card!
doh! that's 2 missed encounter cards...man I played this on super-easy mode. :)
How do you draw to your hand limit so quick and how do you shuffle without wiggling the mouse?
"R" shuffles the deck (also rolls dice), number keys draw that many cards (also change states, for the damage and counter tokens) (not numpad)
@@Theorel_CardTextawesome it's a struggle to learn! I think I'll watch your earlier vids
Oh look, a normal distribution lol
Nice one! This is a cool way to play Adam, though I can see how the extra set up it adds on top of what Adam already needs might make it struggle in harder scenarios. FYI you missed a sentence on Cornered! When it's revealed you also reveal the next card of the show deck.
Oh, yeah...I think I read that once, then promptly forgot about it...that's nice actually, it means I can count on the show changing. I mean it might not have been ideal in this game as it happens, but I've definitely had it work against me that what I really wanted was to change shows, but then I get Cornered instead :)
Oh that was really unlucky to mulligan into all those PSS but no thwarting, and then Stryfe came out swinging. Good job on recovering from there! BTW it's possible to hide individual UI elements from the interface settings menu. That way you can still right click to access search. It's a shame the keyboard toggle disables all that.
Yeah, unfortunate start for the deck, although I did perhaps overcut the thwarts to really hope to draw into them. Thanks for the UI tip, I'll check into that.
Great video😊 keep on going
Amazing video, Adam Warlock is one of my favorite Marvel Champions heroes to play and does not get enough credit. Keep up the great work.
Wow this was amazing! I only know Adam from Marvel Champions and the latest Guardians film so it was really interesting to find out about his backstory and abilities, and especially then to have you relate those directly to the theme and mechanics of his actual cards. I'm definitely going to appreciate his design more when I next play him. I liked how you had the cards all laid out. That made it easier to follow the relationships and interactions he's had with various characters, plus it looked really nice. Maybe you could hide the TTS UI as well for these kinds of videos, just for an extra bit of polish? I'd be most interested to see you play the Symbiote Suit deck. Leaning all the way into stat buffing and readies seems like a unique and fun way to play Adam. This video must have taken a lot of preparation, so thanks for your efforts! I hope you will continue the series, and I'll especially look forward to learning about some of the other more obscure heroes and allies in the game.
Thanks for the feedback! It was pretty fun looking more into the character, as I only really knew him from his Guardian days and the original Infinity Gauntlet story. Good idea to hide the TTS UI, one of those things that didn't even really occur to me as possible, but looks like it's easy to do. I'll actually probably do that in all of my videos going forward, as it's not like I use any of the menus in-game. :)
First!
That was interesting to hear about the Pryde of the X-Men cartoon. I looked it up here on YT and I have to agree with you, it does feel like it had a big influence on Mutant Genesis, despite just being a brief one-off thing. Now I finally know who Lockheed is - he's the tiny dragon Magneto unnecessarily kicks at every possible opportunity, lol. I'm a bit late since it seems a normal part of your videos now, but including your deckbuilding process gets a thumbs up from me.
It's funny, when I started making videos again with Rogue, I built the deck ahead of time and something felt off, then I remembered "Oh yeah, I'm supposed to do that during the recording".
I love Honed Technique with Psylocke since she can pretty much always play it with the 2 free mental resources from her weapons which helps make her psy-bow attack and psychic assault cards way more efficient. I typically run 3 of each of the psy-bow attack and psychic assault and drop the 3 normal double resources for other stuff since she doesn't really need them.
Nice gameplay 😄I just have a rules query about when you decked out with Track by Scent (around 25:00). Should the discard pile be reshuffled before the event is discarded? Thanks!
Yes, I'm pretty sure it should've been left out of the reshuffle. I played that sloppily.
@@Theorel_CardText It's cool, I only asked out of curiosity. Cheers!
Drawing Cerebro first turn with Psylocke is almost an instant win. Just recur Professor every other turn for a block, confuse, & 3 thwart.
Yeah, I forgot a few times that I could get him back again by going alter-ego. I didn't really want to do the professor-loop, but I certainly could have used it a bit :)
Wow, never seen anyone think ms marvel is lower mid tier. She can be one of the strongest heroes in the game.
I mean, she can be strong sure. I dunno about strongest, that's some really stiff competition, and I don't think a late-game Ms Marvel is really in that competition, she might mix it up with the upper-mid/high tiers when she's firing on all cylinders. The main issue with Ms Marvel is that she's not always firing on all cylinders. Her early game can struggle, she needs to get her build cards when she can afford them (or get her friends and family out first), and then finally, if she doesn't draw the events she needs then, well, she can't do the things she can't do. I like Ms Marvel, she's a very fun hero, I've played her a lot, but she just has bad games at a frequency that those higher tier heroes don't. And her good games are not competing with Miles or Scarlet Witch, they're more competing with Iron Man or Gamora.
@@Theorel_CardText have you played the justice Ms Marvel? Using turning the tide? In solo and in two player it’s so good. Have won almost every campaign on expert with her justice build. The only villain it’s struggled against was Ronan and I don’t 100% blame me marvel for that.
My latest Ms Marvel deck was Justice, yeah. It's good, I prefer her in Aggression personally, just because I think the deck is more interesting. But, anyways, she can win games, for sure, most heroes can. I think if I were to put in some demarcations on the tiers, I'd say that the characters above mid-tier can win a game in spite of the characters below mid tier, even when they have a rough game. The character below mid-tier will drop games if something doesn't line up. The characters in mid-tier anywhere can usually pull off a win even if their deck is struggling. What they can't do is consistently carry a second struggling deck, for one reason or another. Just in terms of mechanically what Ms Marvel needs is: Build Time, Alter-Ego Access, and Appropriate Events. I've felt each of those things bring her down in games I've played, whether solo or multiplayer, with a frequency that has pushed her to that lower-mid tier. If she can go to alter-ego with impunity, and take the time to build then she can "keep up" with heroes above her, but if she can't she can't bring *up* a hero below her. As for her being in the *lower* mid-tier, I just feel like those struggles are more prevalent than for heroes above her also in mid tier.
She's better than all the other heroes you put in that tier. I'm not sure she's so much better mid or upper mid on a good day, but not lower. That said I don't think there's anyone more than one row away from where I would put them.
I mean, I certainly debated it...but I don't think she's necessarily better than all the other heroes in that tier. I think there's potentially a division there between Thor, Drax, and She-Hulk vs Ms Marvel, Wasp, and Colossus. Ultimately, it's more of a gut feeling, and a looking at it and saying "yep, that feels right", with an attempt at explaining why I think I feel that way.
dude ive been thinking about some variants.. i only have the base game! but for example.. adding the nemesis cards of other heroes in the enemy deck.. or the responsability card of the heroes for example the black panther one inside rhino and use spiderman.. if the black panther deck comes out u can pull killmonger as henchman but also black panther as ally! thats the básic idea!
That's an interesting idea. So, I'm assuming you're meaning putting nemesis minion/side scheme into play, but getting the ally at the same time?
@@Theorel_CardText yes! i can get the names wrong because i have the spanish version! but basically.. speaking the basic game with spiderman vs rhino for example.. u get to play the spideys nemesis the vulture when u pull the basic bad guy card that says something from the past.. what i mean is.. you could also use the hero cards that are yellow on the back.. from the other heroes like black panther.. put that card in the rhino deck and if u pull it.. then u could pull out killmonger as a minion AND black panther as an ally! something like that!
Tense ending. Well played.
Thanks, yeah, it was a little tight there :)
Keep on the great work😊😊 great video
Thanks! I hope to keep them going :)
Nice one😊 keep on going😊
Glad to see you are back posting videos. One critique is your mic is very low compared to the game sound fx.
Yeah, I sadly didn't notice until I'd already recorded my first two videos. The balance will be better for the Gambit video on Thursday (although still maybe a little low altogether. I think it'll be better by the next video.)
What TTS mod are you using?
I was using Hitch's mod. It's been a bit since I played last, but I believe it is still kept up to date.
@@Theorel_CardText I actually found Hitch’s mod a couple hours ago and it is much better than what I was using. Thank you!
Nice video! I’m working my way through your library.😊 I play Strange with tons of super low cost allies to stack tough cards on. Maria, White Tiger, Iron-heart, Blade, Ant-man, Stinger, Kaluu… They are great tough blockers & Strength in Numbers/Band Together fodder w/ Triskelion. Then stack Cosmo with Honorary Avenger, Sky Cycle, Sidearm, Inspire, Laser Blaster, Power Gloves. 3 Get Readies, 3 Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. He’ll attack for 5 damage 3-4 times on some turns. All the while cycling your invocation deck to find exactly what you need. Such a fun deck to play.
Gg wp enjoyed this gameplay. You forgot the double boost cards for the first attack on stage 3 venom.
Really enjoy playing this deck!
How can i find this mod on TT please?
I'm using "Hitch's Tabletop", if you go to TTS Workshop and search "Hitch" it'll probably be the first result.
@@Theorel_CardText Thank You.
I've always thought Loki is on Ronan tier in terms of an unfair challenge.
I wish I had more time to sit and watch your content! Keep it up!
I always enjoy watching deck building in real time, hope you consider doing it more often in the future.
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad to include it as long as people are enjoying it, it basically just means starting the recording ~10 minutes earlier.
Well played. Enjoyed the deck building.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Quiksilver is one of my faves! Love the OTK deck builds. Really enjoy your content keep it up.
I think, in all honesty, one of the reasons I like Mutagen Formula so much is because it pushes the value of OTK.
Some early thoughts playing these solo: - Drang was a villain I've always enjoyed and I didn't think he needed changing, but I understand it was necessary in order to disentangle him from Ship Command. Currently he feels a little too swingy when he absolutely floods the board with minions, though it is thematic. At one point I had six minions engage me in one villain turn. Overall I still enjoy him and he's especially fun with heroes like Valkyrie & Thor. - Collector feels a little rough around the edges at the moment, though the main scheme structure is solid and very unique. He could probably do with one less modular set in his deck. I think I mentioned this before but it's not quite clear when the Collection should be shuffled. Inconspicuous Box is a fun card. Even in this state he's a huge improvement over the original. - My absolute favorite changes are the Ship Command and Power Stone modular sets. Even if I never play another GMW scenario, I'll always be reaching for these reworked sets. I also love that Ship Command lets you choose which ship the villain gets, really ups the replayability. I think including a recommended ship(Transport for Drang, Patrol for Collector etc) would be a good idea when the set-up the main scheme recommends using Ship Command. My only negative on Ship Command is the second Forced Response on Starship Operations feels like it punishes you too harshly for flipping down to alter-ego, although I'm not positive as I spent as little time in alter-ego as possible. Overall great stuff, thanks again as always!
Is the swinginess from Stage 2 of the Main Scheme, or Troop Transport+Grunts, or something else? Ideally for the difficulty side I traded threat for minions, but I definitely may have missed the mark there. I'll need to try to get some more plays in of all these modified scenarios and see how they play out non-solo and over a few more games.
Yeah, I should see if I can get the recommended ships onto the 1A's. I'm conceiving of these with a modified rulebook in my mind that has some of these details, but good to put whatever I can on the cards...especially given that I have trouble imagining myself actually making a modified "insert" in any sense. Might want to make some little rules-cards that have the stuff that would be in the rulebook. The starship operations second response is to keep it Drang-like, because he seems to be the best ship user, but it could certainly be too much in some cases, I should play some more flip-heavy heroes and see how it goes.
@@Theorel_CardText I think every time the board got flooded with minions it involved Drang's Stage 3 When Revealed ability and I was just extremely unlucky. Definitely need to play it more. I did recently notice a weird situation in Infiltrate the Museum where it's possible to get the Power Stone during 1B through a lucky Inconspicuous Box draw. Don't think this behavior is intended and could be easily solved by adding a 'Cards can't leave the Collection' effect on 1B.
Quick question - Is the Collection meant to be shuffled every time a card is added to it? I'd also recommend adding an 'if able' clause to the When Completed effect on stage 2B, as I think it's possible for the power stone to be a facedown encounter card at that moment.
Yes, whenever a card is added shuffle. I'll have to see whether "if able" fits, it's technically not necessary since it'd just fail and be fine.
@@Theorel_CardText Thanks for the clarification! I've got this and Drang printed out and ready to go this weekend, looking forward to it.
Is the Ship Command modular set meant to have two copies of Ship's Engineer? It's not quite clear from this video. Also a really minor typo I caught - the set name on Starship Operations is Starship Command.
Yes 2 engineers, thanks for the catch!
Been playing this scenario a lot lately and he feels pretty good now as a second scenario in a campaign box. My only negatives would be that his two attachments (Ball and Chain/Monstrous Size) are a little too easy to deal with. That said, I really enjoy this scenario - thanks again!
That's great, I'm glad you're having a good time with it! I'll have to think on the attachments, maybe an extra resource each would be appropriate.
I'm a big fan of your modified scenarios! Definitely excited to print and play your changes to any and all scenarios in the GMW box.
Thanks!, I'm so glad you like them! I've definitely had fun brainstorming these things, and playing them when I can. I wish I had more time to playtest and tweak them, to really nail down the best experience. For this one, I've done a few of these changes before, but not all together before this video, and I'm trying still to nail down exactly how to make the Milano work best. One thing I forgot to mention that I would really like to incorporate is some way of having the Milano be more than just a resource. (Like giving it a random (or selected) Mod which would be akin to the Milano Mods that we actually got, except having the cost of exhausting the Milano itself to get their benefit, and attaching to it. I may not revisit this until I start looking at the campaign stuff though.) Anyways, just to note that there is still a work in progress aspect to them, feel free to offer feedback if anything seems off. But I'm really happy to be able to share them in their current state, and am thrilled that you're able to enjoy them as well :)
@@Theorel_CardText One thing I would like to see in your scenario sets is a stage 1 villain card, even if it's not really play tested. I think most people play standard difficulty, especially when trying a scenario for the first time or even when testing new decks.
That's totally fair. I'll have those for the next scenario, and try to go back and get something together for the ones I've posted already. Thanks for the feedback!
A few mistakes but well played overall!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Ronan is so dependent on RNG. Sometimes I feel like I beat him on standard and its not too bad and others he just steam rolls you. Haven't even tried him on expert.
Fanatacism is a very swingy card, depending on if it's a boost or an encounter card. The built-in treachery cancel and high-threat side schemes also make for a very different game depending on which type of encounter you see.
Excited for Drax he is one of my favorites.
Hopefully it goes better than fighting Thanos!
GG very well played Loki is just one tough cookie.
He can present a challenge at times...I think I forgot to apply the glove this game even. It's funny because I've often found him to be not too hard, but I often wonder whether I just forgot some of his triggers.
Great playthrough, would it be possible if you could add your decks you play to the notes of the video?
Sure, I could do that. Added (hopefully that works). I will note that I normally just build the deck in TTS right before I play it, so set expectations accordingly :)
GG well played! Ant-man is a beast!
Yeah, he does some work. Avengers Assemble can be really tough to make work with the 6-ally limit, but it worked great to push this game to a rapid close once I was set up.
I've been playtesting your Hulk changes and I love how your changes compliment with the original concept of discarding cards. I'd suggest you limit how many resources can be placed on Growing Anger per phase (maybe 2 or 3) as this can quickly get out of control with villains that force you to discard a lot of cards from your hand (Mysterio). The stronger effect on Unstoppable Force feels a tad too powerful as well. Fantastic job overall, thanks!
Fair point, I did not consider any "discard/redraw your hand" type effects (tbf, they didn't exist when I initially came up with the design :P). I was definitely feeling the Unstoppable Force being too powerful in this game as well. It initially came out of the "powerful cards" change I mentioned, to allow you to play Unstoppable force and a 3-cost card (which is to my mind a piece of the Hulk "problem" when he faces a lot of exhaust/stunning effects). With the available resources from Growing Anger though, I think it's less necessary for the card to be "free" when paid for with 100% fists. In short, Unstoppable Force can just be draw 2 discard 1 when paid with all fists, and likely still be a great card. I think Growing Anger could just be 1 counter regardless of number discarded, I think that'd still work okay with Mysterio, even if it still amplifies Hulk a bit. Getting just 1 counter from Doppelganger and Fearmonger should bring things back to sanity. My only qualm is Hulk's ability. It would be more interesting that way for sure, but I'm not sure if it would be improved. If it weakens him too much, Hulk could be made to discard 1-at-a-time, though it'd probably sound weird.
