    Hello, I was wondering if the stock pool rusts or needs to be replaced can it be removed and replaced? Do you need a permit for this? I live in HOA is this considered permanent?

    • @ditchingnormal1344
      @ditchingnormal1344 Рік тому

      Hi! The only rust spots we had in our pool were due to chlorine tablets being dropped directly in the pool, on accident, and not in the floaty it's supposed to be in. Direct contact with chlorine caused the spots. Other than that, we haven't had any rust. As far as the permit and HOA question goes, I don't know. Hopefully your HOA managers can help answer that. If they do say it's considered permanent, you could maybe do an above ground version. We have one above ground now at a new house and love it just as much. Best of luck!

    When you drain the water out where is the water going? Do you just remove your pump and it drains out in the same area ur pump was?

    • @ditchingnormal1344
      @ditchingnormal1344 Рік тому

      We use the pump connected to our heater to drain the pool. We simply disconnect it from the heater and set that side of the hose where we want to drain. You could also use your main pool pump to drain it. Just disconnect the hoses from the pool connections, put one hose inside the pool and the other outside. We definitely never let it flood the pump box. Best of luck!

    Hey y’all we are planning on making a similar pool. We are just wondering how long it takes for the hot water heater to actually get your pool to a hot tub and how much propane it uses.

    • @ditchingnormal1344
      @ditchingnormal1344 Рік тому

      Hi! It obviously depends on the starting temperature of the water. If I'm remembering right it heats it up about 10 degrees per hour. Best of luck with your setup!

      @@ditchingnormal1344 Thank you for responding. Did you have to dip your tank housing hole deeper than the stock tank itself? Our pump will not pull water from the tank into the pump so it never comes to pressure.

    Love this! What did you use as backfill? I’m debating on using 2b limestone for extra drainage (clay rich soil here), but worry about the limestone corroding the galvanized steel.

    • @ditchingnormal1344
      @ditchingnormal1344 Рік тому

      Hi! We have really dry soil here and very little moisture in the summer so we just backfilled with dirt. You definitely have the right idea to backfill with something to help with drainage though if you have moist soil/clay. If you are putting your pump underground as well you may want to consider a sump pump to make sure it doesn't flood. Obviously all depends on how much water you get. Best of luck!

    I got my pool painted, in the ground and pump all set up! problem - pump is on the ground with pool lower by one foot (1/2 in and 1/2 out, as I mentioned below). My pump will not draw the water through it! Do I have to have the pump at the same level as the bottom of the pool? do you know? I see yours is but I was wondering if this is my problem. Thanks for your time!!

    • @ditchingnormal1344

      Hi! I don't know for sure, but I have read that these pumps may not have enough power to pull water uphill. Again, just guessing, but if that is the case you would obviously need either a stronger pump, or would need to lower the pump to the input level on your pool. Best of luck!

    This was helpful as mine just got cloudy for the first time in a year. But I will say that the first shock you put in did its job because it killed the algae blooms and they sank to the bottom. If you watch those trendy pool cleaning videos, that's what happens...and then they vacuum it out. Harder in a smaller pool as it will just get swirled around again. I just drained mine and started over. If you're getting rust though...that I am now an expert on...I just had to sand and epoxy my whole pool. Trial and error with these things.

    • @christinadestefano6448
      @christinadestefano6448 Рік тому

      Yep, yep. I did a thorough cleaning of my stock tank this way without draining. I have the same filter and used the same vacuum as the ones in the video. Adding a flocculant, cleaning my filters, and upgrading my pool vacuum seemed to do the trick to removing the cloudiness. The point of the flocculant is for particles to clump together and sink to the bottom. It took a ton of vacuuming but I eventually got a clearer pool.

    Hey man, just checking in on how your pool is holding up. My wife has been locked in on pinterest looking at stock tank pools and I don't think I'm getting out of this build. Appreciate all the tips here and your inground design came out awesome so I was looking to do something similar but worried a little about drainage and rust. I see people painting theirs with pond paint and wondering if its worth the extra effort. Side note, pretty good editing on the pool uploads, programs have made it easier but you still have to put the time in and they came out great.

    • @ditchingnormal1344
      @ditchingnormal1344 2 роки тому

      Hi Dave! We just recently sold that home but the pool was in good shape when we left it. The only rust spot we had was due to renters dropping chlorine tablets directly in the pool instead of using the floating dispenser. Direct contact with the chlorine tablets can cause rust pretty immediately. Outside of that, we didn't have any issues or signs of rust for 3 years of using the pool. If I were to build this again, I would likely add the epoxy 'pond paint' just to add an extra layer of protection to extend the life of the pool as eventually it would get some rust. Whether that would happen in 5 years or 10, I am not sure but it would likely happen. Good luck with your project!

    • @ditchingnormal1344
      @ditchingnormal1344 2 роки тому

      Hi Pam! If it is in-ground like ours, you would need to use a pump to get the water out. You can just used the pool pump you already have but just unplug the output connection from the pool and point it wherever you want it to drain. Good luck!
