2 Maersk Ships Sink!!
The video shows the sinking of the Maersk Searcher and the Maersk Shipper in 2016 after the two ships were being towed side by side across the english channel to be de-comissioned.

Artificial reef?
They beat against each other until one sank pulling the other with it
Smashing themselves to death in a sea… who would have thought that would have happened being rafted up side by side!!!
It almost looks like they did this because they hoped the would sink. Save on the de-comissioning costs.
Some had to look for a new job.....
Omg how stuit can you be to tow alongside, and with the damage done ceep the towline atacht....
How did they arrive at the conclusion to tow them side by side?
I've been a sea farer, I'm not saying I was involved with vessel operations but dear god what made them think towing two vessels alongside each other as a good idea?
Fue hecho con toda la intención de que se perdieran en el mar. Ni navegando en una fuente de un parque amarrados de esa forma hubiesen sobrevivido. No es necesario tener muchos conocimientos nauticos para darse cuenta de que es imposible esa tarea.
"During the passage of the English Channel, the fenders between the ships on tow failed."
Thanks for the upload. Sheds a whole news light on this matter. I am flabbergasted, at least why where there no attempts to cut the cable and save the Maersk Shipper? To risky? And then again: why double towing along side, The Upper deck structures were already badly damaged.......nobody noticed? They just kept on towing? Very strange !
Insurance job
😔😔
Я так понимаю задача изначально была утопить.
They should have gone to the scrap yard under their own power, it would have been much cheaper and faster...
Read the report issued by the Maritime Accident Investigation bureau. It was a comedy of errors and mistakes.
From which country?
What a screw up that was. Where did to his happen? We're the ships salvaged?
the ships where never slavaged as they where deemed "too deep to salvage" back in 2020
Last anyone heard, the Captain was working at a Popeyes Chicken in St Louis. Sweeping.
the sisters died together
Yeah
Absolutely incompetence, no other terminology for their actions. They should be sued. From the Captain up over.
40 years Ocean towing and Never , Never seen any tow boats tow along side , The boats sinking like this show a lack of understanding and /or Insurance job ,
I never thought this could even be a possibility with Maersk... a double tow alongside? With vessels with such dimensions? Only if they were already half scrapped, without superstructure! And how could ANY surveyour accept this? Bad call from everybody...
Yes, my thoughts exactly. This was a joke unbecoming to the Company. Had the old man been alive, heads would have rolled. Superstructures knocking against each other. No Yokohama fendering or similar to keep the vessel separate, the chains used to secure the fendering seemed to be lashing chain. Only one towline. Perfect cocktail for an accident.
Nice job, Big Captain, success and professional
Le Capitaine ayant accepte un tel remorquage n'est pas professionnel et grandement responsable de ce desastre
this is stupid. to think how high their standards are when you try to apply for a job from them ..lol.. how did the warranty surveyor approve this towing arrangement???
This is stupid towing
Well open case neglected operation
stupid idea.
Insurance
This was a planned sinking nobody is STUPID enough to tie them together and attempt to tow them long distance. It was a planned sinking
Mr Maersk wasn't to pleased about this ...
I cant understand how they had this brilliant idea to tow two vessels alongside.....
They even did that without even tying them together
@@cadenthecadburyengine8198 Oh they were tied alright, it's why the second vessel capazised so quickly since the first one essentially dragged the other underwater, so had they not be tied together the second vessel might have either lasted longer or maybe survived.
Did this sinking/s go as planned?
No because the ships were being towed to get scrapped but this happened along the way!!
@@FPVsean So waht was the root cause of the sinkings please?
@@eddieseymour9948 quite simply they kept bashing into one another that's all
@@FPVsean Ok thanks. So was that the standard practice of towing vessels in that form? Or should it have been in a line behind each other?
Yea it went as planned, dump em on the oceanfloor and get a 15k euro fine for it. Cheapest way to get rid of them.
