Turf Type Tall fescue project update: one month after seeding.
I’m about to have to do all this, IM FIRED UP NOW HELL YEA!!
ATF has been used for decades. It's one of the oldest mechanic tricks in the book.
I'll simply pull the bowl off to get the last bit of gas out of the carb. Never had a problem with any small engines that I've stored for many years (in my garage*). In somewhat climate controlled areas I don't feel it's necessary, but if it was something stored outside I would for sure fill it with ATF to prevent moisture and condensation which could lead to rust and such. Great video!
Thanks for posting
Been through this issue with bad gas, not fun. The next time I bought a generator I bought a dual fuel and only ran it on LP. Now I can let it sit for years and it will always start.
Thank you for the video. I was planning on doing it similar to how you mentioned in this video, but searched for it on UA-cam and the other guy was tearing apart the fan shroud, taking the fan off etc... etc... Saw yours and just removed the battery (I have an oversized battery, stock probably would have enough room to get by), the negative ground wire (again oversized; stock may be ok) and the radiator hose pipe clamp bolt that you did. Worked like a charm. Probably less than 30 minutes. Cool beans! Thank you! 😃
cool man,,,
I love old school stuff. So much of the old is getting lost! Thank you for the great vidio.
great. I also pull the plug, shoot some oil in and move the piston 1 pull. Then to be anal, I leave the piston UP with the valves closed to outside air. My addition.
I have hear 2 schools of thought on this namely if you use ethanol free fuel you will keep gaskets & seals lubed as opposed to fuel containing ethanol which dries th out. Your thought?
Or use synthetic alkylate gasoline before moving the stuff to storage?
Why not use 2 cycle engine oil.
It functions very well
Ok. Stop. Run the last use on normal "cheap gas" for cost reasons. Then run it on marine (rec fuel - no ethanal). You can add a shot glass of Sea Foam for good measure. This has been done for a decade long storage and trouble free restart with no problem. Aviation Gas will also work. This video proposes a lot of effort when all you need is better gas with NO STABLE ADDITIVES! That stuff only remains to gum things up as the gas evaporates. Been doing this for like 40 years. I have almost 30 generators in stock plus other engines (car, boat, airplane, motor cycle... bit of a machine horder). Has never failed.
I had to cut mine off with a torch...it sucked
We might be Brothers, LOL.
Have you ever built a Geet reactor?
I start my generator every month and keep adding new fuel with seafoam in it ,have never had a problem in 17 years
Good job man.
Stable makes a mess out of carburetors I have friends that swear by seafoam my dad always said a tablespoon of acetone in the last run tank of gas in a tablespoon of acetone when you wake it back up never had a dirty carburetor never had one that would not start
😡😡😡 ATF was/is used in engines to ❗️push❗️ WATER & other contaminates from between the rings and pistons, as well as 'freeing-up' the rings. STORAGE FOGGING OIL HELPS STOP CORROSION, of aluminum, AND RUST OF METAL. ANOTHER TICTOC CHANNEL. 🙄🙄
Cool idea thanks for sharing
I have a generater, I run it for 30 minutes every 4 to 6 months, shut off the gas valve and let it run out of gas in the fuel line. Then I store it and it start within two pulls every time, it s about 10 years old and it runs just fine.
how about my riding mower?
Great video instructions Thank You
Nice! Thank you
You already had me and then you do a mini burnout at the end. Freak'n Mint! Nice work!
2 or 4 stroke fuel without ethanol is best
What is the hub nut torque specification, 17 Outback, rear?
I started using airplane gas,
4x4
drain the fuel and run it dry. Pull the carb sediment bowl and empty it out. But it back together and your good to go the next time.
I let mine sit for 16 years, did nothing to it, still had the same fuel in it, decided I should test it, and it started right up.
cool
Honda Jennie’s are particularly sensitive to ethanol in gas. I can’t get ethanol free in NJ so I buy the engineered gas and use that for long term storage. I started doing this after replacing my 1 st $300+ carb since the mechanics say they are not repairable. Been doing this for 3 years now. I run it for 5 min every month.
I've been doing this with seafoam for years.. works great with 2- cycle engines... i use a chain saw like you use a generator!!
What about the need of changing the oil? How do you work that in your storage strategy?
Also use non-ethanol in carburetor engines.
Watch out. There is a rat in your video.
Thank you for this video I subscribed and cannot wait to watch you other frontier videos
That’s sort of like fogging and outboard
LOL bud lite , how times have changed in a cpl o years , i love your work bra , your right about the 2 strokes fouling too , i've killed three brush cutters by leavin that E crap in them, screwed a cpl a late 80's era cars fuel systems too, cheers big ears from down under
but your gutted knowing you were drinking tranny beer
I'll add a Quart of ATF to the fuel tank occasionally !! Good for a lot of things !!!
Mmo in empty tank does the same thing. Pull thru, no gas line removal.
Nice! Any advice on how to clean a carb on a generator that is all crusted up?
In Florida, homeowners buy a generator after the hurricane passes. Ten years later, new hurricane, but generator won't start. Yes, they started it every 30 days, but after a year they forgot about it and shoved it in a corner.
Ah…. Mine sits for over a year with 10% ethanol fuel and stabil marine and it always starts up on the first pull. Don’t even bother draining the carb. My method is much quicker.
I just put StaBil in my small engine gas and call it good. Have not had a carburetor problem in 14 years. I leave them full of fuel during winter storage and they start right up in spring. Easy.
Excellent
