Fighting beasts on the parched plains is a trifling matter compared to battling one's own demons. "Ruined World" / "2300 A.D.", by contrast, imparts the impression that the world is oppressive, but it is *impersonal* in its oppression. Whether _you_ live another day, perish due to famine, are eviscerated by a monster's claws or succumb to a simple infection is of no concern to this dismal future. Meaning is not a luxury no one can afford: it doesn't exist.

The most depressing part in my opinion is the hollow bell noises. Like... it's Leene's/Nadia's bell ringing out over the landscape, with no kingdom left. no king, no cities... just an old, empty bell, swinging in the wind.
