First time I heard this was after jumping down what I was convinced was a shortcut. It was a pit of death… the rats were an easy fight, I cut them up and then pulled out my torch. But right before my eyes half a dozen giant rat queens appeared and mauled me. There was nothing down there. No loot, no illusory wall.

that second last room with the two Ikurr'ilb in the dark was actual agony. No passive light, no ice weapons, just spamming attack until they died. 100% worth it though

coming down here for the first time, seeing the music title pop up, then seeing the enemies actually spiked my heartrate lol, first time a game has done that in quite a while

I still can't shake the feeling that wee were seeing Calamis' memories in this boss battle. Wielding the lucid blade, we also have 2 hands, the gauntlets are also similar to the ones Calamis wears. Was this maybe a memory from how he lulled the Great One to sleep? Edit: Thought about it for a bit and that's probably my personal canon ending, it feels the most rewarding in accordance to the player character. Ending A just has the world ending and you are a fleeting memory in the head of the Dreamer, ending B just has Abdul jebaiting you into unleashing Bayagototh into the real world, CD is just a nice message from Kira. Supplanting the Dreamer in Ending E feels like a rightful reward for the player character's suffering. Maybe they can build a better, less cruel world.

The contrast between the chill vibes and the silence that follows when you find that hidden corpse is extremely disturbing, exaggerated only by how pleasant these tunes are.

Huh. Had no idea this track was a little divisive. I personally love it for this location. The library is, relatively speaking, a very safe place in the dungeon. The music seemed to be a nod to the idea/meme of "lofi beats to study to". Because... It's a library, geddit? I love this area in general, it's bright, cool, fun. Most of the NPCs are just friend-os if you let them be. Just happy big ole snails and living books just chillin' in contrast to the deeper areas of the library where everything is once again dangerous, hostile, dark, cramped, and the music switches up on you to reflect this.
