Everything impeccable. I would just like to underline a small liturgical aspect; 8:52 This is to be learned, dear organists: how to introduce a psalm!
Interesting thank you fou post this!
An extraordinary musician who plays the instrument as an organic extension of himself. Certainly he has few peers.....
I find myself watching and listening to this video over and over and over again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very nice, but It sounds so much better in quarter comma meantone
Yes!!!
I love this piece, and this performance was fantastic to me. He needs to do this at Notre Dame when it reopens!
great. Hope you have suits that fit you now
Bravissimo! This piece is wonderful and also this performing!
Very good these organ and great.
Remarkable that it takes at least THREE people to drive this amazing instrument including 2 who support the player as well as adjusting the Stops. Bravo.
If you want to know Bach, study Buxtehude.
Perfectly performed: an amazing instrument, an equally outstanding performer. Perfect thoughtfully moderato tempo. And what a harmonic flute solo stop!
詩篇歌の伴奏と賛美の仕方がわかりました。ありがとうございます。
Absolutely mind blowing music & talent!
Excellent - and played from memory, not gazing at a piece of paper!
That isn't a deterrent to making music however.
This is how you play a "true "recital This very talented musician slide onto the organ bench with just the clothes on his back and what he let his fingers, fingers and his heart play this marvelous recital. Hats off to this man!
This is how you play a recital. No music, just the clothes on this man's back, and the music in his fingers and his heart. HATS OFF
Beautiful!
Wait... isn't he a theatre organist?
no.
The walton so FUN!!!!
BRAVO! BRAVISSIMO!!! EXCELLENT EXECUTION!!!
...perfect instrument for this piece. Always loved the music direction on the score when pedal theme comes in, "with energetic swing".
Beautifully paced, a wonderful performance!
wonderfull!!
i want his baby
Crazy organ go tell it on the mountain
How about providing the compositions being played ?
Bravo bravo bravo bravo grandiose genial fantastic music super
Magnificent ! and with out sheet music !
If only church congregations would sing like these OHS members! Getting people to sing these days is difficult. Great recital!
Having a decent instrument and an organist who really knows how to play hymns helps a lot. I’ve experienced it first hand when my former parish installed an amazing instrument and let the prior hack go in favor of a real organist and Lo and behold the congregation learned to sing just like on this video.
Magnifique interprétation.
Very beautiful!!
When I was a music student in London, I sat next to Herbert Howells on an Underground Train (though I did not know who he was at that time.) I picked up a packet which he had dropped and gave it back to him. (It was his sandwiches for lunch!). We chatted and I learned who he was. I had played all his Psalm Preludes from the age of 15 so was thrilled to meet him, speak to him - and of course save him from being hungry! What a day that was!
That is a great story!
That is so cool!
Very fine performer and excellent instrument!
Thanks, Tim. It was lovely hearing the organ and some of its history.
So far as the Quimby at Jackson is concerned, I was one of the team that buit it. Jan Kraybill is a wondetrful organist. What worries me is that it is not First Baptist, Jackson that are going over to "Praise Music", but even some churches of my own Episcopal Church are doing the same thing. What to do?
With regard to the Appleton, how much more wonderful hand blowing souns.
Love the Pasi organ!
What a grand rendition of Love Divine...
I like the discussion prior to the music.
Wonderful program! Thank you for making this program available. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire program and am looking forward to next week’s program.
thanks and welcome
Brilliant performance of a wonderful work by Howells!
How we miss James Weaver! He did so much in his life, ensuring the continuance of music preservation, restoration of instruments, and performance practice. A gem of a human being!
Nathan Laube is one of a small handful of organists for whom I would actually drive considerable distance just to hear live. Every micro-movement, every subtle registration change, every articulative nuance, and the over all "ethos" of every piece is revealed in his playing.
Performance starts with the Buxtehude piece at 3:50.
Wow! Simply Wow!
One of the very first selections I heard on "Pipe Dreams" back in the 80's.
Why he doesn’t use the very top keyboard,I ‘m waiting for 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Bad link
You can definitely hear how BWV 565 was heavily influenced by this work.
One could almost suggest plagiarism?
Although the relation is notable, this sounds quite different -- at least in this performance, it sounds much more low-key.
