The Colt "Peacemaker" (aka single action army) which mainly found using a .45 Colt round. They are both designed in 1872 and it definitely has enough power to kill anything that moves, and it leaves a crater behind

Every stage includes a "line" the shooter says to signal the timer operator they're ready. Get off my lawn would be a good one! ;-)

Reloads are very rare for pistols and infrequent for rifles. I'll run into a single rifle reload (load 10 rounds at the start but shoot 11 rounds) at about two matches each year. I've only shot at one match in 6 years that offered a single round pistol reload as a bonus round (shooter's choice to do or not do). That's not to say it doesn't happen elsewhere, but it's rare. Now, Wild Buch Cowboy Shooting which uses a 1911 postol (instead of single action pistols) requires the shooter to use multiple magazines in every stage. None of my videos are of a Wild Bunch match though.

Wicker is fun to watch. He's particularly adept at shooting the '87 pump, and I always enjoy watching him shoot his pistols.

Although Sleepy was edged out of the Club record by a few hundredths of a second, he still holds the Illinois State record with a time of 16.62 seconds on the State Record Stage. Start records can only be set during the State Championship which is coming up in August.

Foyster is fast. I think he shot this stage in just over 12 seconds. That's two 5-shot pistols, a rifle loaded w/ 10 rounds, and two shotguns, AND moving from position to position for each gun.

Yes, most shoot .38's and use smokeless powder. There in the sport for the fun and the competition. However, you'll see several people at matches shooting large-bore, black powder pistols, rifles, and shotguns. They'll never be as fast, but those that shoot that combination of calibers and powder love it. That's the beauty of Cowboy Action Shooting - you have a lot of options to shoot various styles and calibers.

I'm a little quicker with my 1873, but I can't shoot that rifle in B-Western category - I have to shoot a '94 Marlin. I don't get a chance to see myself very often. I look at it and see small areas where I can improve - mostly in my transitions from gun to gun. I also shouldn't lean forward to shoot my pistols. Little things like that can shave a second or so off my time.

There aren't many videos of me largely because I'm the one filming. Occasionally, I'll set a second camera out front on a tripod which I can start remotely. This makes it easier to capture one of my stages. However, I only set up the downrange camera once or twice a year just to add something a little different. It's a fair distraction to me to both participate in the match and film videos with a single camera, let alone two.
