It seems double speak is most insidious when the listener does not know the details of what is being spoken about . To use one of your examples " Enhanced interrogation" would be quite deceptive if the listener was not involved in the interrogation or a witness to it . Many of the others such as "Economical with the truth" is easy to figure out what is going on . Double speak often means one thing to the target group and another to the insiders' , these are often not so easy to decipher , hence the danger and the deception .
