I had a similar issue with my radian talon and triggertech single stage. I lightly sanded the safety plunger with 3000 grit sanding sponge and added some wd40 white lithium grease. It's super smooth now, on and off.

For the money it’s hard to beat that slx 1-8x. Like you said obviously there are better scopes. But for your average to above average ar15 shooter the primary arms slx line is the perfect balance of price to perform. I’ve been using the primary arms slx scopes and prisms for a decade now and they just plane work. I have several higher end optics like an acog ta31, vortex razor, and a couple of the pa glx scopes so it’s not because I just don’t know what I’m missing l. I’ve used some of the best and I just don’t feel like the added cost is worth the moderate performance gains to be had with a higher end optic
