Dang it, I screwed up. This video was supposed to start with 4 jumps on the counter carried over from the Cherry Lake (Mini Paint Star 2/2) video, so the final jump counter at the end of the video should have been 13.

It is possible to leave the Water Vellumental shrine anytime so you could have just gotten a shiny hammer by either finding on the many blocks in the game or by going back to Toad Town. By having shiny hammers you can 1-shot the blue side steppers and with a normal hammer you can also 1-shot the red side-steppers, so that battle is possible damage less. The strategy I used was to solve the ring puzzle normally and then defeat the first wave with the hammer attacks. The Earyn Vellumental panel makes the last wave free. There is a toad that gives you a max HP heart if you fall down in the tall grass section earlier in the Chapter which would allow you to reach 80 HP in the Water Vellumental temple increasing the attack Mario would do.

It is possible to attack Earth's vellumental head in turn 2. When Earth Vellumental loses his head it does a weaker attack reducing the total damage taken. You just need to solve the puzzle incorrectly to attack the head early.
