My dad, Samuel Stover (1927-2024) designed this sign in the 1950s.

Yes I really do love neon....I have been watching a lot of videos recently of artists showing the crafting of beautiful neon signs - and I wish I had learned to do it!! Also I found a video where a man in London was putting on NEON CLASSES!!! HOW COOL IS THAT!!! I would totally be first in line to take a class!! Anyway, love the neons!! :)

Hey there!!! I live in the Portland area and was thinking about riding around getting all the neon one night here soon! I used to live in Vegas as a middle school aged kid in the late 70s to 1980, and I just LOVE the neon there! Well, that was still "old" vegas before they started killing the old original hotels! My favorites were the Stardust and the Flamingo!! I have a pinterest board where I collect pics of old and cool neon - I am pinning this there too!! Xo

Well, I’m not sure if you read these posts anymore but I have to tell you this is the BEST Route 66 video I’ve seen. I made the drive this past summer but it was all during the day and with the exception of the Boots Court Motel and the Wagon Wheel where I stayed at night, I wasn’t able to see any neon signs. Your video was perfect and I love the vintage music. Thank you!

Man, music is a brilliant accomplimemt to the wonderful neon artistry. Wish I could go back 60 years and see one of those neon beauties becoming from the distance. The "future" (today) is way over-rated :-(

I remember one of those signs in Lexington Park, MD. That was over 60 years ago, and I just remembered it.

Looks like the Buckaroo had it's name changed, since the sockets did not line up with the lettering.

Thank you so much for posting this video. We grew up near that intersection and that sign was a part of the everyday landscape of our lives for decades. Just yesterday there was a serious car accident at 85th & Pulaski, and Rosario's can be seen in some of the news footage from the crash. But I believe the pigs & sausages sign may be gone. It was a real piece of Chicago history. Thanks again!! Steve & Janet

The Catalina Motel in Lexington, Kentucky has a similar sign on top of the building. it stopped working decades ago, and they never fixed it.
